Let me introduce to you an author who is new to me and who I canāt wait to read more and share more of her work with you. This book is one heck of a way to start a series!!
Whew!!! In most H.R. books itās usually the hero who is dark and brooding or has a
heartbreaker reputation, but in this book itās the complete opposite! The hero in this book is the one whoās reputation is put in jeopardy by the heroine.
IT IS SO AWESOME!!!!!
She is such a bad girl and I fell in love with her from the moment I met her. I was moved by her courage, her drive, and her strength. I really appreciate how raw and exposed the author made her in order to really draw us into her world. This story isnāt about a woman scorned who is out for revenge. This is a story about a woman scorned who is out to create a revolution and it is
incredible! What do we want? Equality for women!!! Seraphina Arden is the voice of the Society of Sirens. As such she has an obligation to finish writing her memoirs so they can be used to further the cause. In order to meet her publishing deadline, she returns to her childhood home, the place that started it all, in the hope that it will remind her of the events, emotions, and injustices that set her on the warpath for change. Even though she may be away from the entertainments of London, that doesnāt mean she is ready to give up her hedonistic ways or the vices that help her keep her demons at bay. When she meets the handsome architect living next door, all she wants is a little no strings attached fun to distract her from the chore of being in this place and reliving these memories. Will her reputation precede her and ruin her plans to seduce him? Or will she finally see that āniceā isnāt so bad after all?
After the loss of his beloved wife, Adam Anderson is focused on making a name for his architecture firm and guaranteeing its success so he can give his children the best life possible. Thatās how he and his family found themselves in Cornwall for the summer, living right next door to a sultry author. He is here for business. This is just one more commission on his way to bigger and better things for his firm and his family. He cannot afford to let an improper proposition from The Rakess distract him from his goals, but that doesnāt mean he canāt be neighborly and be her friend, right?
While I enjoyed this book tremendously, I will give you all a little warning; as you all know I am a historical accuracy nut, and this book did really well in that realm except for one word, used in one dialogue: ābejesusā. The part of the story that the conversation takes place in is set in 1797 and the first known use of that word is not until 1861. I know it might seem like I am nit-picking since it was just one word and it was only used one time, but when I read it, it jarred me right out of the amazing world the author worked so hard to create, and I wanted all of you to be warned. That being said I like this book and these characters so much and I truly cannot wait for the next book in the series!
