Someone to Care
Once the Countess of Riverdale, Viola Kingsley throws all caution to the wind when adventure calls in the form of a handsome aristocrat. . . .
Two years after the death of the Earl of Riverdale, his family has overcome the shame of being stripped of their titles and fortune–except for his onetime countess, Viola. With her children grown and herself no longer part of the social whirl of the ton, she is uncertain where to look for happiness–until quite by accident her path crosses once again with that of the Marquess of Dorchester, Marcel Lamarr.
Marcel Lamarr has been a notorious womanizer since the death of his wife nearly twenty years earlier. Viola caught his eye when she herself was a young mother, but she evaded his seduction at the time. A prize that eluded him before, she is all the more irresistible to him now although he is surprised to discover that she is as eager now for the excitement he offers as he is himself.
When the two defy convention and run away together, they discover that the ties of respectability are not so easily severed, and pleasure can ensnare you when you least expect it. . . .

Once upon a time there were three young ladies who, despite their fortunes, had been on the marriage mart a bit too long. They were known as “the Spinster Heiresses” . . .
Miss Cassandra Holwell is too tall, too bookish, and too smart—but she does have money and a father who wants a grand title for her. Cassandra hasn’t felt a desire to marry until she meets the sinfully handsome Duke of Camberly, who captures her imagination . . . until Soren York, Earl of Dewsberry and her family’s sworn enemy, steps in the way.
The Holwells ruined Soren’s family, and he’s lived on the knife’s edge trying to resurrect their fortunes . . . until he considers marrying the Holwell Heiress. Not only would her dowry give him the funds he needs, he has secretly had an eye on the independent-minded bluestocking since they both first realized the differences between men and women.
She likes to read; he has no patience for books. She knows little of sex; he is a man of the world and willing to school her. Her family destroyed his; his offer of marriage may be her only salvation.
Now Cassandra and Soren must learn to love each other for who they are, not what they are—and the lessons are becoming an exercise in absolute pleasure.
Another hit from the Spinster Heiresses series. As with the first two books from this series I loved the story and the characters of this book. I loved seeing each member of this group of friends find their true loves.
I think Soren York is one of my male leads so far this year. I love his persistence with Cassandra and his determination to make his goals happen. While this book is about Cassandra Holwell it is Soren who won my heart and made this book memorable for me. The story was well rounded with its fair share of twists and turn and emotional roller-coasting that only made me love the characters more. I hope this author finds a way to add more books to this series, as I can’t wait to read them.
A shy heiress and a well-known rake face a scandal-forced marriage that might be true love in the latest irresistible romance from the national bestselling author of Marry in Haste.
Shy young heiress, Lady Lily Rutherford, is in no hurry to marry. She dreams of true love and a real courtship. But when disaster strikes, she finds herself facing a scandal-forced marriage to her rescuer, Edward Galbraith, a well known rake.
Despite his reputation Lily is drawn to the handsome Galbraith. In the gamble of her life, she agrees to marry him, hoping to turn a convenient marriage into a love match.
As heir to a title, Galbraith knows he must wed, so a convenient marriage suits him perfectly. But there is a darkness in his past, and secrets he refuses to share with his tender-hearted young bride. All Lily’s efforts to get close to him fall on stony ground, and in desperation she retreats to his childhood home–the place he’s avoided for nearly a decade.
Must Lily reconcile herself to a marriage without love? Or will Galbraith realize that this warm-hearted, loving girl is the key to healing the wounds of his past–and his heart?
This is the second book in this series and after reading the first two I am very excited and anxious to read the rest. I am so in love with this family and hope with all my heart that we get to find out what happens to George and Rose and to see if they find their true loves. Lily Rutherford is a character I found so endearing in the first book and I was super excited to find out she is the leading lady in this book. I love that she was able to blossom and become a truly strong character and young lady to be admired. I loved this book and these characters and can’t wait to see what happens next for this incredible family.
For a shameless libertine and a wily smuggler in the London Underground, marriage is more than convenience—it’s strategy
Christopher “Kit” Ellingsworth, war veteran and newly minted Earl of Blakemere, buries his demons under every sort of pleasure and vice. His scandalous ways have all but emptied his coffers… until a wealthy mentor leaves him a sizeable fortune. The only stipulation? He must marry within one month to inherit the money. Kit needs a bride and the bold, mysterious Miss Tamsyn Pearce seems perfect.
Husband hunting isn’t Tamsyn’s top priority—she’s in London to sell her new shipment of illicit goods—but she’s desperate for funds to keep her smuggling operation afloat. When a handsome earl offers to wed her and send her back to Cornwall with a hefty allowance, Tamsyn agrees. After all, her secrets could land her in prison and an attentive, love-struck spouse could destroy everything.
But when an unexpected proviso in the will grants Tamsyn control of the inheritance, their arrangement becomes anything but convenient. Now, Kit’s counting on his countess to make his wildest dreams a reality and he plans to convince her, one pleasurable seduction at a time.
This story is a unique twist on the “traditional” historical romance plot line and it made for a very fun read. I love how both the hero and heroine have similar needs from their situation and how the author writes the story so in the end both end up getting just what they need even if it wasn’t exactly what they wanted. This story is a beautiful example of how a marriage should end up working. While I wouldn’t say there are plot twists there are absolutely personality twists in the main characters that make this book even more interesting. The story of this couple and their support for one another through times of disagreement has reminded me of how all couples should strive to be. I really enjoyed this book and think you will too.
The only thing hotter than the Miami sun is the sexual tension at Panic, the South Beach nightclub where love knows no boundaries.
Lola: I’ve seen the way women in line behind the velvet rope look at William Fox, like he’s an Armani-clad St. Peter at the pearly gates. Except Panic isn’t heaven, and this bouncer is no saint. He’s been tempting me to sin ever since I started working here, but Fox’s slick smile and bad-boy swagger tell me everything I need to know about him. Still, a girl has needs. And Fox looks ready to fulfill every last one—at least for a night. . . .
Fox: I’m not used to being ignored—especially by women—but Lola Daye is different. The pretty bartender with the red lips and icy blue eyes seems perfectly happy pretending I don’t exist. Too bad, because the more she ignores me, the harder I fall. So I’m floored when she answers my drunken, flirty text with a yes. Lola claims she only wants a fling, but after one kiss, our bodies are speaking the same language. And I’m ready to prove that what we have could be forever.
No cheating. No cliffhangers. And no dress code.
Don’t miss Sidney Halston’s Panic series:
PULL ME CLOSE | MAKE ME STAY | KISS ME BACK
And look for all of her hard-hitting MMA romances:
AGAINST THE CAGE | FULL CONTACT | BELOW THE BELT| LAID OUT | FIGHTING DIRTY | STACKED UP
I had a hard time getting into this book. We have Lola, who works at the ‘it’ spot in South Beach and Fox is the sexy bouncer with all the swagger that she is determined to stay away from. Fox has had his eyes on Lola for awhile because she is the one to resist his charm and hello challenge. Lola has no intention for getting involved with Fox, because Lola has a secret… a secret she wants no one to find out about so she keeps Fox at bay until he figures it out. Once he gets a taste he is hooked. For me the story dragged in places and was too fast in some. Will they have a forever love or will Fox lose his chance?
I think the book would have been great if the pacing was better and/or the plot was a little more fleshed out.
Jordan Chen is the man behind the screen. As part of the elite security team for Osbourne Corporation, he has an iron grip on protection, all without having to make close connections with people. Until he meets the beautiful Jay, and suddenly his quiet life doesn’t seem so perfect anymore. He needs more. He needs her.
A workaholic to her core, Jay Rose doesn’t have a lot of men in her life. Smiling in the face of her enemies gets her the results she wants at work, but doesn’t exactly project a warm, welcoming vibe. So she’s surprised when the enigmatic security expert strikes up a friendship with her—surprised but flattered, and maybe a little bit turned on.
A company as powerful as Osbourne Corporation has powerful enemies, and when Jay becomes a target, Jordan realizes there’s nothing he won’t do to bring her home safe.
This book is approximately 95,000 words
I have looong since been a fan of Alexa Riley and, like her others, this book is a winner! Jordan has been head over heels for Jay since the minute he saw her. Unfortunately for him, he has been friend zoned…. or so he thinks. Jay has feelings for Jordan but thinks he doesn’t see her in that way. Jordan is the best book boyfriend!
He is sweet, thoughtful and an alpha rolled into one! Jay is independent strong woman, but with Jordan she fits and they are a perfect match! Things are going great but then Jay starts to receive some threats and Jordan being the alpha he is wants to do nothing but protect her. Then Jay goes missing and que the drama and suspense! I loved watching the journey of this romance unfold and the chemistry? It is off the charts!
Loved this story! This is a must read!
I’m beyond help…
I threw a football before I could walk. Everything in my life revolved around football–and I loved every second. I was a star. Until, suddenly…I wasn’t. Now everyone thinks I’m the monster who killed his best friend. I’m an outcast on campus, silent and alone. Then Taylor Selmer walks back into my life. When will she learn–I’m beyond saving.
I need to save him…
Chase and I used to be friends. But after the accident, nothing was the same. We used to have something special–until we didn’t. But he doesn’t smile anymore. Doesn’t talk. Doesn’t play. It hurts me to see him this way, and I will do everything I can to get him back in the game. Whether he likes it or not.
I love reading books from authors I have not read before, you never know what you are gonna get!
Chase is in college and was used to being the man on the campus, but after an accident involving his best friend, which he blames himself for, all of that is behind him. Taylor grew up with Chase since her parents work for Chase’s dad. She is sent to watch over Chase and get him back on his feet. Only Taylor did not expect to have the connection to him like she does. Now they both have to navigate these feelings together but with his overwhelming guilt it seems like it wont happen. This was a great find, and I will totally be reading more by this author. The flow and pacing was great and the ending was predictable, but still good.
