People travel from afar to the small isle in the Aegean Sea hoping for a single glimpse of Princess Psyche. Their adoration for the mortal woman is so all-consuming that citizens begin to shower her with the very gifts and offerings they once left at the alter of Venus, goddess of love and beauty.

But gods are known for their jealousy.

Cupid, the god of love, takes pleasure in causing strife and mischief in the lives of humans. He uses love as a weapon, humoring in the weakness of people at the whims of their feelings. When his mother Venus approaches him about punishing the human girl who dares to steal her offerings and affections from the people, Cupid gladly accepts.

Psyche’s punishment is to be given to a mysterious creature who only comes to her in the dark of night under the pact that she will never lay eyes on him. She is terrified of this stranger, who the oracle described as a serpent. Her mate, however, is masterful in his dealings with his bride. He takes his time, morphing her fears into different sensations completely.

Based on the Roman/Greek mythology of Cupid and Psyche from Lucius Apuleius, New York Times bestseller Wendy Higgins brings the tale to life, weaving layers that show exactly how a sacrificial lamb can be enchanted by an unseen monster.

Where to start! This book was such r roller coaster and a fun one at that!

I knew going in it was a Greek Mythology story, but didn’t really know the main characters,(because I wanted it to be a surprise to me) So, I went in blind, but knew since it was Greek Mythology it would be interesting(because those Gods were cray).

We Meet Psyche, the most beautiful girl/woman on her small island and adored by all. Her small island of people adored her so much, they forgot about the adoring the Gods, with offerings. The gods, namely one is NOT HAPPY and sets out on a plan to teach the girl who dare set herself up as GOD to worshiped buy her people a lesson. But Psyche isn’t the girl whom the Gods think she is. She hates the attention and wants nothing more to marry off like her sisters and build a family, full of love and warmth.

The gods punish her by punishing her island and people and in order to fix it, she agrees to marry a ‘monster'(Cupid) that she cannot see or touch and live in his land away from everything and everyone that she knows and love. But her ‘Monster’ husband turns out to not be that big of a monster and just when she thinks its going to be okay and lets her guard down and starts to love her invisible husband, BAM craziness ensues.

Psyche is put to the test when the GODS decide this is unaccepted and the fight to prove herself and her love is on!

What a ride! first, you are drawn into this amazing and sweet, and warm love story told in a way that if you are like me, had no idea about, sucked you in to the point it made you smile when they smiled. And then you are taken for a ride along with Psyche on these impossible to win task! I loved this story and they way Wendy told it was in a way that is sucked you in so much you wind up looking at the clock and realizing it’s 3 in the morning and you have to get up and got to work in 4 hours, well at least it did for me!

This story was packed with sweetness, action, humor and

Her life is a catalogue of dances and evening gowns, and thanks to an eidetic memory, she can remember every blasted, boring second of it. A treasure hunt for the Cleopatra Emerald promises adventure, but Claire wants more. If she can convince Colin Smith to take her with him as he travels the world, then she’ll have the life she’s always dreamed of. There’s just one problem, he doesn’t seem to like her much.

But Lady Claire loves a good challenge and the intellectual beauty may be on her way to the grandest adventure of all.

Each book in the Wicked Secrets series is STANDALONE:
* Twice As Wicked
* Lady Gone Wicked
* Wicked With the Scoundrel

This book is so much fun!! I love the adventure in this story!!  I love the characters in this story!!! I love the unlikely romance in this story!!! Basically I love this story!!

Lady Claire Harrisonis the daughter of the Marquis of Chatwell, who is an avid collector of Egyptian artifacts.  On behalf of her father Claire attends an exhibition of the very artifacts her father hoards.  At the expedition she meets the explorer who uncovered the artifacts and it is love at first sight… at least on her side.

Colin Smith despises London and its’ high society is only good for the money they invest in his expeditions.  It’s in the interest of his next expedition that he makes a deal with the Marquis of Chatwell to help his adventurous daughter find a treasure.  Little does he know that by the end of this adventure he will have found a true treasure.

Again this book was so much fun to read and it had me laughing out loud quite a few times.  I can’t wait to read the next book from Elizabeth Bright to see what new adventure awaits.

Blackballed from my job.

Moved back to my hometown with my tail between my legs and family issues crushing my back.

Slinging drinks in a dive bar.

Yes, the past year has been hell. So when a man who’s temptation wrapped in golden skin and sin offers me one night of no-holds barred, dirty sex, I’m all in. I deserve it.

But now those few unforgettable hours have me facing blackmail from my own father: He’ll pay for my mom’s medical bills, but only if I never again touch the man who has quickly become my obsession.

Because the man? My obsession?

He’s my stepbrother.

Each book in the Sweetest Taboo series is STANDALONE:
* Sin and Ink by Naima Simone
* Passion and Ink by Naima Simone
* The Scandalous Diary of Lily Layton by Stacy Reid

The cover is hot I mean who doesn’t like a delicious body with art tattooed everywhere. The story itself is a bit taboo and shows you that life and love can be messy at times.

“Ro” first meets Jay at the dive bar that she works at and at first sight he leaves her speechless! Jay is having a rough week but is taken by her at first glance. One night is all they are giving in to until “Ro” has to go to her dad’s house who she has not spoken to in forever. Low and behold she runs into her stepbrother, and it’s her one night stand Jay! they find out that Jay is a nickname for Jude and Ro is short for Rowena her middle name.

The same man that gave her so much pleasure! They both feel the pull is there but they are ‘family’ now and it has to remain platonic. There were a lot of sexy scenes and great chemistry throughout and it was great to meet the crew from the Hard Knox tattoo shop! Great characters and really enjoyed the story.

If you’re a guy like me, and you find yourself having banged your sexy new boss—the school principal—in the back of your Jeep one drunken night, here’s a few takeaways based on my experience…

Lesson One: Always get her FULL name.

Lesson Two: Consider asking what she does for a living.

Lesson Three: Find out why she’s moved to town. Get details. Details are crucial.

Lesson Four: Don’t alter her bio in front of an auditorium of high school students unless you know she has a sense of humor for that sort of thing.

Lesson Five: If you ignore Lesson Four, apologize instead of flirt when you’re sent to the principal’s office.

Lesson Six: NEVER sleep with her again.

Lesson Seven: Pay attention to this one—it’s the most important of them all.
Don’t fall for your one-night stand.

Class dismissed.

Out NOW!!!

This author is well known to me and I was super excited of course!! This is a start to a new series and we are introduced to the clan called The Bailey’s! I always think to myself wow this was a great series cant wait for the next and it always amazes me how the next series just gets better and better!

You are introduced to a family that is real and relatable! Austin is the older brother who comes back to town after college because his parents died and him and his sister Savannah had to raise the rest of his siblings.  Now Austin has the last two siblings about to graduate and he is hoping he can get back to his dream about being a baseball coach for college, even though he currently teaches and coaches at the local high school. He gets the task of introducing the temporary principal who happens to be the one night stand he just had a couple days ago! Oops!

Holly is in Alaska temporarily but has a secret of her own. The emotions that Austin stirs up within her has her acting a little unlike herself. Austin is sexy, sweet, caring and responsible. The sparks between these two are magnetic! They try to keep a low profile but somehow the Lake Starlight buzzfeed has their relationship front and center. Holly knows she shouldn’t get in to deep with Austin but the more time they spend together it seems like a losing battle! What happens if Austin gets to follow his dream outside of Lake Starlight? What if Holly wants more? These are all the things you think while reading and more!

Piper Rayne has a great way of pulling you in and making you feel like you are a neighbor! Real characters and wonderful plots are always a win for me. After reading one book they know how to get you excited for the next one! Well done ladies this was a great start to the series!!!

Never trust a man who wears nothing more than a cowboy hat and ripped jeans who asks if you’d like to save a horse and ride a . . . well, you get the picture.

That should’ve been enough for me to walk away.

I’ve been warned on several occasions about southern men—with their sexy accents, charming manners, and the ability to easily get any woman in bed—which is something I’ll be avoiding.

Being a professional photographer has many perks—traveling around the world, calling all the shots, and working with subject matter that isn’t bad to look at—but Colton Langston with his washboard abs and baby blue eyes, could care less about my current project. He’s trouble, I know it, and he’s determined to make me work for every single photo. When I’m forced into riding lessons, I get way more than I ever bargained for, and by the time my trip is over, I’m in too deep.

Being with him was thrilling, but falling for him was unpredictable.
And ignoring him will be impossible.

This book made me want to go back to San Antonio and find me a cowboy!

where to start with all the goodness….! First the cover is sexy and flirty and gives you a good visual for the journey you will embark on. Second this book had all the great ingredients: great cover, well developed characters and a wonderful love story! Even the names Colton and Presley are cute!

Presley is in town to photograph for her bookstagram and happens to be staying at the Bishop Ranch. Colton is one of the ranch hands and a native to Texas. Colton is not looking for a relationship after a nasty break 5 years ago and Presley travels a lot and does not see herself settling down. The guests are normally off limits to the ranch hands but the attraction that sparks when they meet equals to maybe twisting the rules! Whatever idea you thought you had about Colton, erase it because while he is slightly cocky he’s also sweet and warm and had me swooning!  How could Presley resist???? I love how the bishop boys and wives make appearances  and boy oh boy Braxton!!!!

This is another hit ladies!! I cant wait for more!!

Moonlight Scandals(Review Post)

Published January 28, 2019 by bookbesties

Even a ghost hunter like Rosie Herpin couldn’t have foreseen the fateful meeting between two mourners that has brought her so intimately close to the notorious and seductive Devlin de Vincent. Everyone in New Orleans knows he’s heir to a dark family curse that both frightens and enthralls. To the locals, Devlin is the devil. To Rosie, he’s a man who’s stoking her wildest fantasies. When a brutal attack on her friend is linked to the de Vincents, he becomes a mystery she may be risking her life to solve.

Devlin knows what he wants from this sexy and adventurous woman. But what does Rosie want from him? It’s a question that becomes more pressing—and more dangerous—when he suspects her of prying into the shadows of his past.

Now, the legends surrounding the de Vincents may not be myths at all. But if she’s to discover the truth, she must follow them straight into the arms of the man she can’t resist—the handsome devil himself.

I will be the first one to admit how much I hated Devlin…vehemently, but Jennifer has a way of making even the hated character a little bit likable(Ahem, Seth).  So going into his book I kept an open mind.

Devlin de Vincent is the mysterious older brother of the de Vincent’s and since the first book, Moonlight Sins, has also been the most hated one, with his snide comments and even more hated fiancé, Sabrina Delvin put the ‘DEV’ in Devil.  When his brother(Lucian) buys a house that may or may not be haunted Rosie enters the picture with her ghost hunting extraordinairedness. She is sassy and sexy and takes zero mess from Devlin who is used to everyone bending to his will.

Rosie thinks Devlin is hot, I mean hello, but she also knows that he is an butthead and gives back everything he dishes out and thus begins their hate/like relationship. The hateful flirtatious banter that they have literally make the whole book for me, and the chemistry is off the charts!

Can we say Hate Sex?!

Getting to know Devlin is actually not so bad. Learning why he is the way he is and will stop at nothing to protect his family warms Rosie’s hart even when she spends half her time disliking him, but when craziness starts happening and Rosie finds herself in the middle of it by chance, she  understand completely the type of man Devlin is and the mystery that has surrounded the de Vincent’s father’s death. The twist and turns this book took me on had me screaming at mu kindle at an ungodly hour but it was so worth it. Slow calp to Jennifer for this one, I felt she captured romantic suspense really well and Rosie and Dev are one of my fav book couple!

Summoned to Thirteenth Grave(Review Post)

Published January 15, 2019 by bookbesties

Grim Reaper Charley Davidson is back in the final installment of Darynda Jones’ New York Times bestselling paranormal series–Summoned to Thirteenth Grave.

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper extraordinaire, is pissed. She’s been kicked off the earthly plane for eternity –which is exactly the amount of time it takes to make a person stark, raving mad. But someone’s looking out for her, and she’s allowed to return after a mere hundred years in exile. Is it too much to hope for that not much has changed? Apparently it is. Bummer.

She’s missed her daughter. She’s missed Reyes. She’s missed Cookie and Garrett and Uncle Bob. But now that she’s back on earth, it’s time to put to rest burning questions that need answers. What happened to her mother? How did she really die? Who killed her? And are cupcakes or coffee the best medicine for a broken heart? It all comes to a head in an epic showdown between good and evil in this final smart and hilarious novel.

So, we are at the end of this amazing series and I just have to say that this blew me away.  I loved the ending, I loved the middle, I loved the beginning!  Where this book does not have a happy ever after ending, what book with Grave in the title would?

Charlie’s growth as a person, she has never lacked in self-esteem, she has grown into such an amazingly skilled person/God from her first step out of bed answering Ubie’s summons.  Confident in her powers, in what she has to do, and what is right.  I felt her and Reyes ended up right where they were destined to be from the beginning

I cannot give too much away, but I cried my way through the last half of the book, had intensely excited, emotional exclamations with every page turn and immediately started the series over again because I am not ready for it to be over.

Well done Darynda, this book is amazing and I refer it to everyone I know, 5 stars!
