Chicago’s Ferraro crime family will do anything to protect one of their own in this thrilling entry in the Shadow Riders series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Nicoletta Gomez was a terrified teenager when Taviano Ferraro and his brother saved her life. Ever since, she’s been trying to rise above what was done to her, molding herself into a survivor under the protective eyes of the Ferraro family. All the while, she’s been falling hopelessly in love with the man who knows her darkest secrets.…

With one look, Taviano knew that Nicoletta was his, just as he felt their shadows connect. But no matter how much he wanted to claim her, he knew she needed time to become her own woman. When Nicoletta once again finds herself in the sights of dangerous men, a split-second decision has Taviano breaking all of the Ferraro family’s rules to keep her safe. And as far as he’s concerned, the reward is more than worth the risk.

I have not been able to read a Shadow Riders book since Stefano and Franchesca, who brought me into this series.  Being introduced to the inner selves of Nicoletta and Taviano brought me many details I was missing when I finished the first book and a renewed love for the Ferraro family.

I am a huge supporter of what they do as their “family business” and the care and protection they offer everyone they are close to.  Just being involved in something as horrific as Nicoletta was, then to find a family bring her in and act as an actual family to her was extremely emotionally supportive.

Slight spoilers if you have not read the book yet…

But, the love and respect Tavino showers on Nicoletta as they grow close as well as trusting her with his deep, dark secret was very well emoted.

I have my own personal reader-issues with the repetitiveness in Ms Feehan’s books, along with the same personal trauma affecting all her characters.  Otherwise it was excellently written as always.  The characters had enough depth to where I was satisfied reading about them, but not overly bored trying to keep things straight from their past.

Vendetta Road (Torpedo Ink Book 3) Review Post

Published January 29, 2020 by bookbesties

51vysYOyQtL#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan pushes the limits in her next novel in the Torpedo Ink series.

Isaak “Ice” Koval is on a club mission when he sees a woman who stops him dead in his tracks. Soleil is a sweet, sexy, girl-next-door type. She’s an innocent who should be nowhere near the rough-and-ready world of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club. But Ice knows Soleil belongs with him—and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.

After a life of drifting from one thing to the next, Soleil Brodeur is determined to take control of her life. When her breakup with her manipulative fiancé turns ugly, Soleil searches out the stranger who offered her a lifeline and ends up in a Las Vegas biker bar where she meets a gorgeous, dangerous man straight out of her most secret fantasies.

High on adrenaline, she finds herself falling faster than she thought possible. But Soleil knows little about the territory she’s stumbled into, and even less about what it really means to be Ice’s woman.…

This is my second time reading CF and while I found the book enjoyable, I think it would have better enhanced my reading experience had I read the books before this.

I found this book to have such a broad range of emotions invoked during my read; distress and horror at what has been endured by the MC and elation at their calling and endeavor to change the world one child at a time. Essentially, the club Torpedo Ink, are hunters of human traffickers and pedophiles following their own nightmarish experience into the world.
When Ice see’s Soleil it stops him dead in his tracks, literally.

I love Ice. Absolutely adore him. He is one of my top male characters overall. He is Alpha male without being demanding in a negative way. He isn’t smothering and negligent of his woman’s needs and wants, but rather sets out to give her the world while making her his. I love his attentions, how he always needs to touch her or have her close, he is supportive of her sharing, and he is this bad ass biker with lethal skills and finesse.

Soleil Brodeur is not a brain dead-“I can’t do anything on my own” person. She reached out for help because she recognized her limitations, but dealt with things on her own terms. She is not allowing herself to be controlled and demeaned by anyone. Living the dream world as a millionaire, with this super hot biker with a proclivity for public sex; hot public sex too!

I did have to force myself through quite a bit of repetition of the characters, they had to keep saying the same things, mentioning the same problems, and voicing the same intentions over and over. If I didn’t like it so much, I may not have read through the book.

But love it, I did.
