Published August 25, 2020 by bookbesties

Today I am helping share the release of SPARKS by Wendy Higgins!  Scroll below to check out my review!

SPARKS is Wendy’s debut release in the Contemporary Romance genre! It is a Standalone HEA!

SPARKS WILL FLY

51cqAPR-HhL._SY346_

From New York Times bestseller, Wendy Higgins, comes her first contemporary adult romcom. Please sit back and keep your seatbelts fastened because this will be a bumpy ride.
Enjoy your flight.

At twenty-four, Harlow Robinson has run headfirst into a quarter-life crisis. Her high school girlfriends have dropped like flies, one wedding after another, forcing her into panic mode. It’s fight or flight time, and flight wins—literally. She breaks off a loveless engagement with her childhood sweetheart and abandons a teaching degree to become a flight attendant for Omega Skies.

Now Harlow is living her best glamorous, single life as a self-proclaimed sky muffin, at least that’s how it appears from the outside. But 3:00AM wakeup calls and nights alone in hotels make the days blend into a blur of loneliness. When her seven roommates sign her up for the dating app Sparks, Harlow finds herself navigating an entirely new lifestyle with more men than she can handle.

What’s a girl to do? Date them all, of course.

In this first ever Adult Contemporary romance from Bestselling author, Wendy Higgins brings us a funny, romantic, coming of age book.

When you mix a young, impressionable adult with being a flight attendant, having crazy roommates and a dating app, you get a perfect mix for a great setting to an amazing story.

Harlow Robinson is fresh out of college and on the heels of all her other friends seemingly getting their life together she decides to chuck it all, including her fiance/high-school sweetheart who she didn’t really love, and become a flight attendant.

Harlow, who believes in all things love is going along and enjoying her job and her seven, yes seven, roommates when they decided to sign her up for a dating app. Add in her male best friend, a handsome soldier she connects with on a flight and the ups’ and downs of online dating, what could go wrong right?

This story was so real in the pitfalls of online dating. I am here to say that Harlow’s experience was very, very accurate which made her that much more relatable to me. I also related to her as she is sweet and wants to see the good in everyone even when they are not deserving of that. The hope/excitement/heartbreak journey that Harlow takes, I FELT on a personal level. When the author can take you and your emotions along for the same ride as the character is huge for me.  When they laughed, I laughed out loud and when Harlow cried, I cried hard. That, I feel, Is the sign of a good book.

I am excited to see more of the Omega Skies flight attendants journey’s into love!

Collide by Amanda Shelley (Review Post)

Published July 20, 2020 by bookbesties

Release Date: June 30

Falling head over heels was the last thing I expected.

Literally.
Coffee is everywhere – and more than my ego is bruised.

When the handsome stranger I plowed into calls me by name, mortification sinks in.

He rushes off to class. I run home to change, hoping to forget the whole incident.

If only I could be so lucky.

I quickly find it’s a small world and Gavin Wallace is completely unavoidable.

Everywhere I turn he’s there. In my classes. Hanging with my friends.

I’ve got his full attention and I have to admit, I like it a lot more than I should.

Sweet romance that buds between Alex and Gavin. After they Collide, literally, they have a PG friends to lovers path that will hopefully lead to a HEA.  They both are hardworking and fun to be around. Alex (Alexis) was a bit flighty at times but the relationship that these two build up is perfect YA material. These two are cute together but i was hoping for a bit more angst. Alexis is trying to spread her wings from being at home with all her family. I did feel that their romance developed really quickly. Overall it was cute but fell a little short for me.

First Comes Scandal by Julia Quinn (Review Post)

Published April 22, 2020 by bookbesties

9780062956163_9570f

Continuing her delightful Bridgertons Prequel series, #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn presents the latest love story between the Bridgerton and Rokesby families.

She was given two choices…

Georgiana Bridgerton isn’t against the idea of marriage. She’d just thought she’d have some say in the matter. But with her reputation hanging by a thread after she’s abducted for her dowry, Georgie is given two options: live out her life as a spinster or marry the rogue who has ruined her life.

Enter Option #3

As the fourth son of an earl, Nicholas Rokesby is prepared to chart his own course. He has a life in Edinburgh, where he’s close to completing his medical studies, and he has no time—or interest—to find a wife. But when he discovers that Georgie Bridgerton—his literal girl-next-door—is facing ruin, he knows what he must do.

A Marriage of Convenience

It might not have been the most romantic of proposals, but Nicholas never thought she’d say no. Georgie doesn’t want to be anyone’s sacrifice, and besides, they could never think of each other as anything more than childhood friends… or could they?

But as they embark upon their unorthodox courtship they discover a new twist to the age-old rhyme. First comes scandal, then comes marriage. But after that comes love…

BuyNOWAMAZON

This is a classic story of lifelong friends who circumstance makes them see one another as more than the friend next door, and I was addicted to it from the first line! In a time where a woman could be easily manipulated by men and the expectations society sets for their reputations, into an unwanted marriage this heroine stands her ground and refuses to allow a scandal to force her to marry a man she does not love. I admire strong leading ladies who stand up for what is right and who have the courage not to settle for less than they deserve.

Julia Quinn has given us just such a character and she is wonderful. Of course, a heroine of this nature is going to need a hero in her life who sees her potential and is willing to take chances with her to help her find success. This author has delivered both of these characters as well as a truly endearing story for them to fall in love by. The only fault I found with this book was that once it was finished, I found myself wanting more. Once I read the last page of the epilogue, I was left thinking that this story went by way too fast. There should have been more. It should have taken them a little longer to discover their true feelings for each other, maybe then I wouldn’t have finished the book feeling like their story was rushed.

That being said, the story
we did get was sweet and I really enjoyed it.
Nicholas Rokesby has been mysteriously summoned away from medical school by his
father. Upon arriving home his parents guilt him to participate in a crazy scheme to save the reputation of one of his lifelong friends and neighbors. The last thing he needs right now is to delay his studies by missing school just because his parents are determined that he should marry her and save her from this disaster. She is one of his oldest friends, like a sister, he has never considered her as more. There have never been tender feelings between them, and he doesn’t know if she will even entertain the idea of marrying him but if offering will keep her reputation from being ruined then he will do his part.
Georgiana Bridgerton is done crying over the injustice of being a woman. She is done
crying over the situation she is now faced with and the impending ruin of her reputation. She was kidnapped by a financially destitute scoundrel and held against her will for just long enough for society to dictate that she must marry her kidnapper. Too bad for society and for Freddie Oaks that she has no intention of them force her hand into any life she doesn’t choose for herself. A sudden, surprise proposal from one of her oldest friends sends her reeling and forces her to see the desperation of her situation. Will she give in and marry Freddie? Will she face
social ruin, or will she find happiness in the most unlikely of places?
Yes, I think there should have been a longer timeline in the story, but that doesn’t take
away from the fact that I adore these characters and their story, and I hope all of you do too.

Bachelor Boss: The Bachelors Club book 2(Review Post)

Published April 10, 2020 by bookbesties
Release Date: April 7

What is The Bachelors Club?
It’s a gentleman’s club—like the dignified men of the past used to have. Except, we’re not gentleman, and we’re not dignified.
We’re ineligible bachelors, bored, jaded and not looking for relationships. Quite the opposite actually. So committed to being single, we’ve created a high stakes bet to see who can remain single the longest…

Four days co-habitating in a shared work space shouldn’t be a big deal. It shouldn’t be distracting. But Spencer Standish saw me puking in a company trash can, and won’t let me live it down. Cheerful, aggravating Spencer, who wants me to fetch her coffee.
As if she’s the boss of me.

And now I’m stuck sharing her office.
Let’s face facts: I can’t be in a relationship; not when there’s a bet to win—not with Spencer, who loves my uncontrollable basset hound, lazy Sundays, and grilled cheese as much as I do. I refuse to fall for her.

will be the last Bachelor standing.

This was book two in the Bachelor Club books of three friends who have created a secret society with a bet that we saw created in book one.  In this book I feel like my perception of Phillip was different than most. He seemed funny and lighthearted, class clown type and was not looking for a romance. But he  is set on winning this bet. On the other side Spencer (which i love her name) is funny in a quirky kind of way. She finds herself with a office mate for a couple of days and her attraction for Phillip is high even if he does aggravate her. The banter between these two is sweet and cute. On the outside you feel like these guys are corny for making this society but then you see their stories and its nice to see the tough guys fall in love. This is an office romance must read. I definitely laughed more with this book and cant wait to read the next one!

A Royal Mistake by Piper Rayne(Review Copy)

Published April 7, 2020 by bookbesties

He’s not your average Joe from the corner bar.

He’s the heir to the crown.

I should know, I’ve followed him for years.

Not in a stalkerish way.

Magazines and online gossip blogs are fair game when you’re royalty.

But I do know every detail about him, down to the brand of boxer briefs he wears.

All my studying of the man who plays a starring role in my dreams pays off when I win a dinner with him.

As if that wasn’t enough, he barters a deal with me that has him moving into my spare guest room.

I forgot that fairytales don’t exist though because just as I’m about to get everything I want, including the prince, I find out there’s someone in Prince Adrian Marx’s life I don’t know — his fiancee.

This is book two in the Rooftop Series and it involves a Prince, an outgoing friend group, and a sassy-strong minded heroine.  I was on the fence about Sierra after the first book, and how she handled things with her friend, so i was interested to see how she her story would play out. Sierra and Prince Adrian as “royal” opposites, it was interesting to see how they would mix together, developing their slow burn, and building their romance; the pressure of royal families and past hangups was the challenge for these two. I didn’t immediately fall in love with this book but in the end, they both won me over!  I enjoyed seeing the friend-group bring the story together and set the base for future characters.  I definitely am excited for the next book

My Bestie’s Ex by Piper Rayne(Review Post)

Published February 18, 2020 by bookbesties

I can’t borrow him.

He’s not a sweater or a skirt.

He’s not even her favorite dress—the lucky one she wears on first dates. The one she probably wore on her first date with him.

In my defense, I didn’t know who he was. To me, he was a cool, calm, confident stranger. He was perfection for the entire hour and a half train ride while the concrete jungle turned into a rolling green landscape.

To an outsider, we probably appeared more friends than hopeful lovers. But my blush came quickly, and his dimples indented with every smile. We definitely shared a spark of what could be.

Too bad I didn’t know who he was before I fell for him, because he can’t be mine.

Piper Rayne starts off a new series and of course it’s a win. This duo work well together and really know how to warm us up and really bring us in to feel like we are part of the clan. I love the side characters which of course gets you excited for the next books in the series.
I was a bit hesitant because of the title and thought okay this is different. One, I love The Mancini family so of course I enjoyed Blanca. Loyal and a breath of fresh air. Ethan is a bit hard to pin at first but he resists the attraction between himself and Blanca. Then when you think you are on cloud 9 the wrench is thrown into the mix and there are some decisions to be made and that HEA is in jeopardy. Overall I enjoyed meeting the rooftop crew the banter is funny and you can tell everyone has a great bond. I can’t wait to see more especially Rian book!

Ignite on Contact by Jaci Burton (Review Post)

Published February 4, 2020 by bookbesties

512a2QWMssLNew York Times bestselling author Jaci Burton is back with a friends-to-lovers romance sure to melt hearts as one smokin’-hot fireman turns up the heat on love.

Relationships. Firefighter Rafe Donovan avoids them whenever possible. He loves dating women, but he makes sure they know up front that he’s in it for fun, great sex and nothing more.

Fun. As an ER nurse and official caretaker of her disabled grandfather, Carmen Lewis doesn’t have time for fun. But Rafe has been there for Carmen–and her grandfather–time and again, and he’s clearly interested in her. She knows he’s a player, but she’s tempted by his charm and incredible body. And maybe a little fun isn’t a bad thing, as long as she keeps her heart away from this fiery game she’s enjoying with a very hot man.

Love. It doesn’t take Rafe long to realize that until now he’s only been playing at romance. With Carmen he feels searing passion and heart-tugging emotion for the first time. Now he has to convince Carmen that what they have together is the real deal.

Ignite on Contact (Brotherhood by Fire, #2)Ignite on Contact by Jaci Burton

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book 2 in the brotherhood by fire series and I was first introduced to Rafe in book 1 of the series.
Rafe is a sexy firefighter, who is not looking for anything serious and enjoys the life he lives. Carmen is his next door neighbor and also the nurse who is there when Rafe is brought in to the ER following an accident on the job.
With some time off after the accident Rafe is restless but starts to spend time with Carmen. They both have their own issues that they are dealing with, but are drawn top each other. Rafe is sweet and Carmen has feelings for her hot neighbor. As they spend time together you see the chemistry spark up. The question is can they both get past their issues to make things work? This romance is sweet and it builds. The way Rafe is with Carmen and her grandfather makes you fall for him. I have enjoyed the series so far. Another well written romance by Jaci Burton that will have you smoldering.
