Trust in Me by Jessica Linden(Review Post)

As the heir to a large pharmaceutical company, Marco Adamo had it all. But when a drunk Marco crashes his car, leaving him unharmed but his best friend in critical condition, Marco’s life is thrown off track. In an attempt to regain control over his life, Marco flees to the military and returns, ready to own up to his actions and his past.

Four years later and returned a changed man, Marco meets the beautiful Kat Delagrange. But before their relationship can blossom into something real, Kat learns that Marco was the man behind her brother’s severe injuries. Kat vows to keep Marco out of her life…until a shadowy man from her past threatens her, making her realize that she’ll need to trust Marco to protect her…and in the process, find a way to let him into her heart for good.

This the first book by this author that I’ve read and I was excited because the plot sounded good.
Marco is returning from the military after being away from home since an accident that left his best friend hurt and him feeling like he needed to straighten up! What he didn’t expect was to meet Kat on the side of the road. Kat is attracted to her shining knight that helps her when her car breaks down. What they both don’t know is that they have something in common…..Or rather Someone.
Kat works for Adamo company and Marco is an heir to the company, Marco really likes Kat but when secrets from the past come around and threats she didn’t know existed arise will she still see Marco as her shining knight? This book plot fell a little flat for my taste. It [the plot] felt a little forced and the out of know where ‘twist’ didn’t really go well, IMO with the story line. I could see where the author wanted the story to go, it just didn’t make it, at least for me, unfortunately.

Chasing Xander (The Collins Brothers) Review Post

Published October 16, 2017 by bookbesties

Kylie Quinn is positive nothing could be more embarrassing on her first day of college than having her unmentionables go sprawling across campus. She was wrong. Very wrong. Having a super-sexy co-ed twirl them around his finger like he’s privy to all of Victoria’s Secrets is so much worse.

Xander Collins has met his match with Kylie—she’s gorgeous, smart, sarcastic as hell, and doesn’t give a damn that he’s loaded. She’s also a virgin. And he doesn’t do virgins. Been there, done that, and he’s still paying for it. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be friends, despite the fact her flirty moves leave him with balls a shade of blue he never knew existed.

Kylie is special, and she deserves more than his typical “one and done” routine. But as his life implodes and his not-so-brilliant plan to take things slow blows up in his face, he’s at risk of losing everything—including Kylie. Now he must decide if everything he’s been fighting so hard for is worth it without her by his side.

Lexi Lawton is a new author to me so I’m always a little skeptical because I’m a creature of habit, but the cover is niiiiice, so I figure, sure.  Kylie’s moving to college and of course to start her first day off right her personals (granny panties and thongs) go all over the lawn. Enter sexy Xander. Kylie is a virgin but she’s ready for Xander to show her some moves. Because Xander had a past issue with a girl and now he wants to take things slow with Kylie, so he’s not really rushing to take her V card.  As life starts to blow up in his world Xander will have to try to figure out if he can make things work or will Kylie be left behind.   The sparks between these two fly right away with the banter being cute, fun and sexy.  I love the college romance! Xander is sexy sweet and Kylie is a great balance for him! This is a must read!

Game On (Hometown Players) by Victoria Denault (Review Post)

Published October 10, 2017 by bookbesties

When it comes to scoring in the pro hockey league, Alex Larue is crushing it-with the hot puck bunnies. He’s the life of the party, the guy with all the jokes . . . and the one whose Party Guy mask keeps the real him well hidden. The last thing he needs is anyone finding out about his troubled past, or the nightmares that haunt him still.

Brie Bennett is less than impressed by Alex from the moment she meets him. And even though he insists on volunteering at the charity she runs, she doesn’t trust him. He’s hiding something…but so is she. She’s not just the rich, privileged New York princess he thinks she is. The animosity between them is undeniably addictive and as their worlds keep colliding it becomes supercharged with something else – attraction. But if they stop playing games and let each other in, they both might lose.

One More Shot
Making a Play
The Final Move
Winning It All
On the Line

It’s always interesting when you read an author that you are not familiar with. You never know what to expect. But I am a cover whore and the first thing to intrigue me was the cover! The cover is appealing and clearly you can tell this is a sport romance and Ding, Ding, Ding! I am a sucker for a sports romance now add to that a hockey romance and I have to a least check it out.

This Story has all key components that I love in a sports romance. First, you have Alex who has just been traded to a new team . He is sexy, cocky and funny and everyone likes him especially the ladies!

” I don’t break hearts, i break headboards.”

You have Brie who has it all; she is pretty, wealthy and a great job! Little does Alex know that the director of the charity that he is trying to volunteer for is Brie.  The plot makes you want to keep turning the pages so much I didn’t even want to go to sleep! The story that builds between these two is sweet. They both annoy each other but we all know what that means when the boy is mean or bothers you in school? Yep, there are feelings that are about to get involved. Alex has a past that slowly Brie is trying to unravel but Alex does not know if he can open up. Throw in a troubled teen off the streets and the story is heartwarming.  The chemistry right away is funny and sexy.  You really feel for the characters. This book is refreshing and it hit a jackpot with me! I’ve found a new author to love and I can’t wait to read the others in the series!

No surprise I give this

Make Me Yours (Men of Gold Mountain) & Giveaway

Published October 9, 2017 by bookbesties

Claire Collins has always been good—except when it comes to bad boys. Or one bad boy in particular: a tattooed musician as skilled with her body as he is with his guitar. But he wasn’t ready to be a father, so she left him to raise their daughter on her own. Only fate had other plans, and suddenly, Ryan is back in her life, disrupting everything. This time, though, she’s determined not to lose her heart…even if she still craves his touch.

Ryan Thomas never expects to see Claire again—especially not in a small mountain town in Washington on the last show of his comeback tour. But when the lights come on, there she is, more beautiful than ever. One incredible night with her won’t be enough… But he’ll have to prove he’s not the man he used to be, if he wants to keep her—and his family—for good.

Each book in the Men of Gold Mountain series is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.
Series Order:
Book #1 Make Me Stay
Book #2 Make Me Beg
Book #3 Make Me Want
Book #4 Make Me Yours

This is my first time reading from this author and the description at first glance called out to me because second-chance romance is my book jam! You have Claire who has made a new life for herself in a new town after leaving behind the love of her life five years prior. She sees A flyer for a band that will be playing at her friends bar and decided to give into her friends demands and ‘have fun’. Surprise to Claire that the eyes that she looks into on stage is no other than her ex whom she left a drunken mess, Ryan! Ryan can’t believe that he is now face to face with the one that got away due to his demons and has been haunted by her for 5 years. He is now on the mission to talk to her, to understand why she left and is totally caught off guard when he see’s a picture of Claire’s daughter!!??(Not a spoiler) HIS daughter!

Ryan isn’t sure he want’s to be a father and Claire, she isn’t sure she is over Ryan and now all the emotions are rushing back. The interaction started off timid and sweet, Claire isn’t the burned man hating women you’d think she be after what she thought went down with her and Ryan all those years ago, and Ryan, is a changed man. The chemistry they had took me a little while to believe, but when it happened it HAPPENED! The passion was off the charts and the interaction with them as a family was sweet and awkward and I loved it.
I am fairly certain this is an author I will read again!

RACER BY Katy Evans(ARC Post)

Racer by Katy Evans
Publication Date: September 28th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Racer, an all-new standalone in the Real Series from New York Times bestselling author Katy Evans is coming September 28th!!!

Racer Amazon.jpg

A bad boy with something to prove.

A woman with a mission.

The race of their lives.

The love of a lifetime.

I don’t think his parents expected him to live up to his name—Racer Tate—but once he felt the adrenaline rush behind the wheel, he was addicted.

He’s the fastest, fiercest driver around.

Scouting new talent brings me to his doorstep…

but his smile sends me to my knees.

The sexy, mysterious Racer Tate is not the kind of man a girl like me falls for. He’s secretive, reckless, elusive. But his proximity pushes me beyond reason, and his kiss….

This is our last chance to win, and he is our only hope. I’m supposed to watch him—make sure he doesn’t get into trouble. But it’s an impossible task. And now the one in heart wrenching, toe-curling, soul-crushing trouble is me. Because when your heart belongs to someone, their truths become your own, and their secrets become your salvation…or your curse.

He says he wants me. He says I’m the One. But he also thinks he’ll break my heart, one piece at a time until it’s gone.

I’m still reeling. While people approach him, he cuts a path straight to me, his gaze penetrating and target-like; making me want to bolt.

His lips do that little upward tilt they do that seems so sexy, and for a second, I feel like I’m lightheaded.

I gulp, and then feel mad at myself for acting like some idiot as fucking devil-Racer Tate reaches me, throws himself into a seat next to me, and turns to look at me expectantly with the most gorgeous grin on his face.

I don’t know what to say.

This guy has left me sort of speechless.

“So … ” I say, staring in the distance at his beat-up mustang, then at him.

“So … ” he says too, in his deep voice, his smile a little more wicked than it was two seconds ago. He glances at my mouth.

Oh god.

Why am I licking my lips?

It only made his eyes narrow and darken.

I open my mouth to speak, failing to find words. He smells like sweat and soap and shampoo, and I feel my traitorous nipples push up to my top again. Why do they do that when he’s around?

“This is illegal,” I state.

His voice is husky from exertion, and his eyes glint with laughter. “That’s why it’s fun.”

I look away from his eyes, trying to focus and clear my head. He leans over and peers into my face, his face shadowed by the moonlight and his jaw now carrying a little scruff. “Are we in agreement?” he presses.

“No.” I glare and shake my head, meeting his cocky gaze. “You’re reckless, Racer.”

“So are you, Alana.”

“It’s just … Lana.”

His brows fly up in surprise. “And a bit of a liar too.”

I purse my lips, still glaring as my gaze goes back to his car. Girls are rubbing against it as if it were him, and I find it disgusting. Why are women always acting so slutty around race car drivers and bad boys?

“You crashed your car,” I say flippantly.

“You crashed my car,” he contradicts, amused.

I laugh, then scowl in his direction. “You crashed it more. I can’t believe you were making such a fuss about me crashing into you when it was just a little kiss—”

He leans in to peck my lips—fast but firmly. “That’s a kiss.”

I lose my breath.

My eyes wide.

He eases back, lips smiling as he comes to his feet and stretches his hand out to take me by the elbow and help me to my feet.

“Let’s get out of here.” He starts walking, leading the way.

“And go where?”

“Anywhere I can get my hands on you.”

I have long since been a huge fan of Katy Evans and it all started with one guy, one beast of a man..Remington Tate. Now, Remy has a son and WOW, he is every bit of his father’s son.

“I’m going to be your man, you better not play games with me.”

Like wow right?!

Talk about Uber confident, he is waaay more cocky than his father and I couldn’t love it more.

Lana, our chick, is trying very hard to get her families name back out there in racing Formula 1 cars and she is desperate for a driver that will help her do this, especially before her ailing father loses all hope. Enter Racer who upon seeing her knew that Lana was “The One.

“I’m Racer Tate and this girl is mine.”

Lana, however is not too sure, but she is drawn to Racer like she has never been drawn to anyone before, including her first love who died tragically.

I knew this story was going to cause me to have palpitations out the wazoo, because Duh, it’s Katy Evans and what does she do best? Cause palpitations with her very descriptive style of writing that pulls you in on bated breath. What I didn’t expect, and really that’s stupid on me is the emotion that left a lump in my throat on scenes with Racer and his father.

I mean, if you have read the first three books in the Real series and that were about Remy and Brooke, then you know that Remy is an emotional beast and the love and concern he has for his son was pouring off the page in those scenes.

Needless to say, Katy killed this story, like legit killed it and I have to say, it was so worth the wait! Great Job Katy, this series, this couple, this family has and will remain my greatest love.

Unforgivable Love: A Retelling of Dangerous Liaisons(Review Post)

Published September 26, 2017 by bookbesties

Amazon Us

“A dazzlingly dark and engaging tale full of heartbreak, treachery, and surprise.” – Kirkus

In this vivid reimagining of the French classic Les Liaisons Dangereuses, it’s the summer when Jackie Robinson breaks Major League Baseball’s color barrier and a sweltering stretch has Harlem’s elite fleeing the city for Westchester County’s breezier climes, two predators stalk amidst the manicured gardens and fine old homes.

Heiress Mae Malveaux rules society with an angel’s smile and a heart of stone. She made up her mind long ago that nobody would decide her fate. To have the pleasure she craves, control is paramount, especially control of the men Mae attracts like moths to a flame.

Valiant Jackson always gets what he wants—and he’s wanted Mae for years. The door finally opens for him when Mae strikes a bargain: seduce her virginal young cousin, Cecily, who is engaged to Frank Washington. Frank values her innocence above all else. If successful, Val’s reward will be a night with Mae.

But Val secretly seeks another prize. Elizabeth Townsend is fiercely loyal to her church and her civil rights attorney husband. Certain there is something redeemable in Mr. Jackson. Little does she know that her worst mistake will be Val’s greatest triumph.

I am not going to lie to you, I am struggling with how I feel about this book. First let me start by saying that this is a very well written book. I truly enjoyed reading it. The struggle comes from how the book left me feeling. Most of the books I read have happy endings that I can typically predict with in the first two chapters. This book is not like that at all. While yes it does end well it is nowhere near what I expected. This book has one of the “darkest” romance story lines I have ever read. I truly don’t know how I feel about this book. I loved the characters and again it was very well written, and it ends well, but I just can’t get past the plot twist. I hope you will read this book and enjoy it just as I did and that it will make you question what really makes a happy ending.
