Heck yeah for a take no ish heroine!!!! This is my favorite book by Anne Gracie yet!
This heroine knows what she wants out of life and refuses to give up her dreams for anyone, no matter how hard they try to convince her otherwise. She is probably my favorite heroine of the year. Of course, Anne Gracie has given her an equally incredible story that is perfect for both leading characters. If you are looking for a book that will keep you on your toes and laughing out loud then look no further!
Lady Georgiana “George” Rutherford is new to having a family and to London society,
but that doesn’t mean she will let either force her into a life she doesn’t want. If only she could make her Aunt Agatha and the number of would be suitors who won’t take “no” for an answer understand. It’s nothing personal. She just never, EVER wants to get married! She wants to live a quiet life in the country with her dog, raising horses. Is that too much to ask for? Besides, even if she was interested in taking a husband the last man, she would consider would be the cold, hard Duke of Everingham, who’s very better-than-everyone existence irritates her to the bone. The only thing she wants and intends to do with the Duke of Everingham is give him the proper set down his over inflated ego desperately needs, or is it? After Redmond Jasper Hartley “Hart”, the fifth Duke of Everingham was jilted at the alter by Lady Rose Rutherford the last thing he was expecting was to be offered her niece as a consolation prize. Hart is tired of ambitious ladies, their families and the games they are all playing to try to trap him into marriage. This last offer by Lady Agatha Salter, was the worst play yet, trying to convince him that the niece she offered him has no interest in getting married thus making her his ideal match. All ladies want to get married. Who does she think she is fooling? He remembers Lady Georgiana from time spent with his former fiancé, and while she is attractive that and her supposed aversion to marriage isn’t enough to pique his interest. However, her magnificent horse and her sassy mouth just might be the keys to turning his head.

I LOVE THIS HEROINE!!!!!!!

I am sure you will love her and her book too!

When You Wish Upon a Rouge: A Debutante Diaries Novel by Anna Bennett

Published May 28, 2020 by bookbesties

51GeI8ZI66LOnce upon a time in Anna Bennett’s When You Wish Upon a Rogue, three young ladies vowed to record their first London seasons and to fill in the gaps of their educations.

She knows what she wants.

Miss Sophie Kendall is happiest arranging the secret meetings of the Debutante Underground, a group of women who come together to discuss the weekly advice column The Debutante’s Revenge. What makes Sophie most unhappy is her impending march down the aisle to a man she does not love. But her family’s finances are in increasingly dire straits.

Henry Reese, Earl of Warshire, hasn’t slept in weeks. Desperate to escape his manor house and its haunting memories, he heads for one of his abandoned London properties. There he meets a beautiful, intriguing woman—trespassing. Reese is far less interested in Sophie’s search for a secret meeting spot than he is in her surprising ability to soothe his demons. So he strikes a bargain with her: his shop in exchange for spending one night a week with him.

Is this love for real—or just a dream?

Sophie never expected this to happen. But she cannot deny the fire Reese sparks in her—and soon their shared desire burns bright. Sophie is irrevocably promised to another. But maybe these two ill-fated lovers can find a way to risk it all—all the way to happily ever after…

This is the first book by this author I have read and it was wonderful! I LOVE The
Debutante’s Revenge column and what it stands for and I can see myself being a faithful
member of The Debutante Underground, but shhhhh……the first rule of The Debutante
Underground is you don’t talk about The Debutante Underground. This book is everything I love about historical romance novels and more! It has a strong heroine and a strong hero to both see her worth and help her grow. It has the potential for scandal, total ruination, and desperation as well as hope, dedication, and a happy ending. I am impressed that this author used a soldier’s PTSD to build the foundation for a romantic relationship in a H.R. book. To that I say, “Bravo!”

I read this book in one sitting because I fell head over heels for the characters and couldn’t put it down, I hope you feel the same.
Miss Sophie Kendall created The Debutante Underground in response to the success of
The Debutante’s Revenge, a printed column she and her best friends, Fiona and Lily created. She decided readers of the article needed a place where they could secretly meet and discuss the article and anything else, they felt so inclined to bring up. The only problem is she needs to find a convenient location that can easily hold the growing meetings where no one would notice the members coming or going. A tip for a possible new meeting space from one of her members finds her looking into an abandoned tailor’s shop.

That’s where she meets Mr.
Peabody, the shop owner. Who as they share a cup of valerian root tea and discuss the shop falls fast asleep. With no hope that he will rent the space to her, the last thing she expected was to meet him in the garden of a ball or the scandalous offer he makes her.
Henry Reese former Major in the 41 st Foot, hasn’t slept in weeks. As a matter of fact, he
hasn’t been able to sleep for more than a few hours since leaving the front lines, when his beloved brother Edmund died, to take his role as the new Earl of Warshire. One evening after being plagued with nightmares as he restlessly wanders through the old tailor’s shop he owns; he comes across a most unexpected intruder. A lady. Who after a cup of tea and in the middle of a conversation, miraculously helps him not only fall asleep but stay asleep, waking up more rested than he has been in months. He is certain she is the key to the return of his sleep and is desperate for more. Surely that is the only reason he would ask her to spend the night with him, right?
I love this book and am a fast becoming a fan of this author.

Nothing Compares to the Duke By Christy Carlyle (Review Post)

Published May 28, 2020 by bookbesties

51rEPQ3bRML

Christy Carlyle concludes her Duke’s Den series with this sparkling romance about two reluctant allies intent on following the rules and breaking every single one.

His Only Regret…

Rhys Forester, the new Duke of Claremont, lives his life by four words: Enjoy All, Regret Nothing. He’s devoted to the pleasure of his wild soirees, reckless behavior, and shocking the ton with his interests in trade. The debts that come with his title don’t fit the carefree lifestyle he’s created and when he’s forced to return to his family’s estate, he’s also forced to confront his one and only regret: the beautiful girl he left behind.

May Be Falling in Love…

Arabella Prescott has been the belle of more balls than she cares to remember. After three seasons and five rejected proposals, she’s done with the marriage mart. Bella’s hopes to live a comfortable life, alone, come crashing down when her parents demand she marry. But her salvation may come in the form of the man she hates the most.

Bella has never forgiven Rhys for what he did to her, but desperate times call for fake engagements. With a few dozen rules, their scheme begins, but it’s not long before the former enemies find themselves breaking every single rule, including the most important of them all: don’t fall in love

out-now-png-7

Welcome to the third book in Christy Carlyle’s The Duke’s Den Series! Finally, we get to
know the third and most carefree member of The Duke’s Den, Rhys and see him get his happy ending. This series has been so much fun to read and I have loved every page of it! This book simply adds to that love and enjoyment. I am so happy that this series is based on the leading male characters and their stories as opposed to many historical romance books/ series being based on female characters. Seeing these strong men fall in love and only get stronger through the love of their interests is a welcome change from the norm.

While Arabella “Bella” Prescott loves her life with her parents writing is her true passion
and she is close to having her first puzzle book published. She is completely content to spend the rest of her life as a spinster, living in the country with her family and writing her books. She thrives on structure, order, lists, and creating the riddles and puzzles that will fill her book. That is until her father is given an offer he should not refuse. Taking the professor job in Greece is not only her father’s dream job it would be good for his failing health too. She will never be able to publish her book from Greece and her parents are convinced that they cannot leave her
in England unless she is married or at the very least engaged. Too bad there is only one man who she would have ever considered marrying, and he carelessly broke her heart. Will fate find a way to make all her dreams come true or will she sacrifice it all for the love of her father? Rhys Forester, Duke of Claremont lives a life of scandal in fact it’s what he has become known for. Little do his friends know that his seemingly carefree life is really his attempt to
shirk the responsibilities of his dukedom. When a bank note he issued to help fund an
investment gets returned his best friends and co-investors of The Duke’s Den make him face reality and put him on a mission to find out where all his money has gone. His investigation leads him back to his childhood home at his country estate where he suspects he will find the person who has been mismanaging his money. Sadly, numbers have always been a struggle for Rhys, and he is going to need help going through the ledgers to figure out just where the money has gone.

There is only one person he trusts with the job, unfortunately he disappointed her deeply when they were younger, and he is sure she still hates him. He is determined to make amends with the one woman who has ever seen him as more than scandal and a title and who can truly help him? Will his determination pay off or will it end up in heart break? I really hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did!

So Caroline does what any clever, resourceful lady of means would do to make sure Leo never again forgets: sees that scandalous morsels about his reputation are printed in a ladies’ gossip gazette…all while secretly setting her cap for the rakish royal.

Someone has been painting Leo as a blackguard, but who? Socially, it is ruining him. More important, it jeopardizes his investigation into a contemptible scheme that reaches the highest levels of British government. Leo needs Lady Caroline’s help to regain access to society. But this charming prince is about to discover that enlisting the deceptively sweet and sexy Lady Caroline might just cost him his heart, his soul and both their reputations…

This is the second book in the series but the first book by this author I have read and I am very impressed!  So much so that I made it a point to find and add the first book in the series to the top of my TBR list.   I read this book in one sitting and was completely captivated from the first page.  It has fashion, danger, scandal, romance, betrayal, and heroism from an unexpected source.   The author did such a great job building the characters that I felt like I knew them and I could see them vividly in my mind as their story played out.  I really appreciate that this author wasn’t afraid to include political corruption, human trafficking, and sexual slavery (all of which may be considered taboo topics) in this book to add an edge to this story that goes well beyond the typical historical romance scandal.  I find this change from the norm to be both exciting and refreshing, and honestly has made me a big fan.

The very fashionable Lady Caroline Hawke, has no short supply of potential suitors.  That is when she is at home in London, but she isn’t in London, in fact she isn’t even in England.  She is in Helenamar, Alucia with her brother Beck, to attend the grand wedding of her dearest friend Eliza Tricklebank to Prince Sebastian Chartier.  Who says she can’t do her best to catch the eye of the Prince’s younger brother while she is there?  Sadly Prince Leopold seems to be not only immune to her attention and flirting but to be completely put off by it.  Well just wait until she crosses paths with him again on her own turf!   She will see to it that he isn’t received in any home or invited to any society events!

Prince Leopold Chartier of Alucia, is a second son who relishes holding that place in the world.   His title opens all the doors of society both at home in Alucia and in London while his birth order allows him to live a life free of any real responsibility.   He fills his days in London with friends, fun, and little worry until his father decides to use him to form a political alliance by arranging for him to marry Lady Eulalie Gaspar, daughter of the Prime Minister of Wesloria, without consulting him first.  Add to that some disturbing information that was dropped in his lap at the same time and that life of luxury is over.  His return to London to tie up loose ends and investigate the validity of the accusations of human trafficking made against his future father in-law turns into a chaotic mess when all of his invitations dry up and he is no longer received in the homes of society after his name is associated with a scandal involving servants.   The last thing he needs is the distracting sister of his only remaining friend, Beck Hawke getting in the way.

I really enjoyed this book and love the heroine so much! I hope I get to share more books from this author with all of you in the future.

Say Yes to the Duke by Eloisa James(Review Post)

Published May 19, 2020 by bookbesties

A shy wallflower meets her dream man–or does she?–in the next book in New York Times bestselling author Eloisa James’ Wildes of Lindow series.

Miss Viola Astley is so painfully shy that she’s horrified by the mere idea of dancing with a stranger; her upcoming London debut feels like a nightmare.

So she’s overjoyed to meet handsome, quiet vicar with no interest in polite society — but just when she catches his attention, her reputation is compromised by a duke.

Devin Lucas Augustus Elstan, Duke of Wynter, will stop at nothing to marry Viola, including marrying a woman whom he believes to be in love with another man.

A vicar, no less.

Devin knows he’s no saint, but he’s used to conquest, and he’s determined to win Viola’s heart.

Viola has already said Yes to his proposal, but now he wants her unruly heart…and he won’t accept No for an answer.

out-now-png-7

This next installment of The Wlides of Lindow Castle series is everything we have come to expect from both this series and this author.  This family is so incredible and I love getting to know each unique personality.  Not all of its members are related by blood; some have been adopted due to acquaintance, some became part of the family as step-children, and some married into the family.  No matter the circumstances of their induction they are all loved and treated as if they were born a Wilde.  I know you all know this already, but I am making a point to bring it to your attention because this is Viola’s story and the family dynamic plays an important role in her life.  I adore these characters and thanks to the author’s awesome writing I was able to really relate to Viola and her struggle with finding her place in the family.  I am getting so much joy and excitement from this series that I don’t want it to ever end!

Viola Astley, step-daughter of Hugo Wilde, Duke of Lindow has been part of the notorious Wilde family since she was two years old.  After all that time you would think being a Wilde would be so much a part of her that she would forget that she wasn’t born into the family.  Sadly, it is glaringly clear just how much she isn’t a Wilde.  All of her siblings are beautiful, successful, courageous, and well-liked by society.  If you ask her, Viola is none of those things, she is small all over with ordinary eyes, useless, afraid of everything, and painfully shy.  Will an enlightening encounter with an “exceptionally rude” duke shake up her world and change her view of herself?

Devin Elstan, Duke of Wynter, is more interested in sitting at home at his desk working on equations than being out at society functions.  However the dukedom requires him to produce an heir.  To make that happen he needs to find a wife.  The best place to find a worthy future duchess is at a ball, and what better ball than one being thrown in honor of a duke’s daughter?  Certain his title insures he will have no issue attracting the lady of his choosing, he intends to hide himself from the rest of the husband hunters in the library until it is time for him to dance with her.  It’s in that very library where he unintentionally insults then meets the host’s step-daughter who contrary to her reputation as shy, is “funny and sweet. Brave” and who he cannot stop thinking about.

I enjoyed this book more than I can explain and it is a true credit to this series and this wonderful author!

The Rival Roomies by Piper Rayne (Review Post)

Published May 19, 2020 by bookbesties
Release Date: May 12

I’ve loved him from afar.

Though most times he’s only a foot away.
I’m smart enough to know he’ll never be anyone’s forever.
He checks all the bad boy boxes.
Tattoos. Check.
Motorcycle. Check.
Chip on his shoulder. Check check.
If he wasn’t my neighbor and friend I may have thrown myself at him. Okay, yeah. I wouldn’t. Because guys like Dylan don’t want a woman who writes kid’s math textbooks under him in bed. Instead, I pathetically savor morsels of moments where I have his sole attention.

That was until his archenemy moved in with me. Now suddenly, Dylan’s moving in too and warning off the first guy in a long time who’s showing me interest. Could he finally see me as more than a friend, or am I just a prize to win and show off to his enemy?

Grab Your Copy Here:

This was definitely the book that I couldn’t wait for and i was highly excited to see it in my kindle. Dylan and Rian are great friends and secretly have liked each other. Rian doesn’t think that her good girl persona would ever be something Dylan would want. Dylan thinks that Rian is too good for him and he does not want to lose their friendship. What happens when a old friend turned enemy moves in as the new roommate with Rian that has Dylan moving in also. May the best man win.

I loved Dylan with his sexy bad boy persona but inside he is a teddy bear. The relationship between him and Rian is sweet and flirty. You want the issues to just disappear so these two can just be together because they seem so right. Rian is smart and funny and can bake her butt off so what is there not to love? This was a great swoon worthy , friends to lovers romance that will have you smiling all the way.

This is a novella in the How to Date a Douchebag series which, one I love the title of the series and two I just love the series. This story is short and sweet and will have you chuckling from Prologue to the end. Rex is back to his old stomping grounds to help out the Wrestling team and he has some history from the past while he attended. Hannah is quirky, sassy and awkward and attends the university. After one swipe on the LoveU app and her convos with Rex start the ball rolling. Quickly we find out the struggles that Hannah has with guys and has everything to do with the lack of filter on her mouth and her quirks. Rex takes the role of teaching Hannah how to date a guy . You definitely see a different side to Rex and the banter between these two is hilarious.  The chemistry is hot and there is a flirty, sweet and awkward banter that is amusing. Great short read from Sara Ney.

The Virgin and the Rogue by Sophie Jordan(Review Post)

Published April 29, 2020 by bookbesties

51QTgVKvs5L._SY346_

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that the young lady everyone assumes is mousy has uncharted depths… particularly when there’s a scientific sister, an aphrodisiac, and the stepbrother of a duke around. Creative, unique, and racy –this story is not unlike the very elixir around which it is based.”–Jodi Picoult, New York Times bestselling author of Small Great Things and A Spark of Light

Continuing her bestselling Rogue Files series, Sophie Jordan brews up a scintillating romance about a timid wallflower who discovers a love potion and ends up falling for a dashing rogue.

A love potion…

Charlotte Langley has always been the prudent middle sister, so her family is not surprised when she makes the safe choice and agrees to wed her childhood sweetheart. But when she finds herself under the weather and drinks a “healing” tonic, the potion provokes the most maddening desire…for someone other than her betrothed.

With the power…

Kingston’s rakehell ways are going to destroy him and he’s vowed to changeHis stepbrother’s remote estate is just the place for a reformed rogue to hide. The last thing he wants is to be surrounded by society, but when he gets stuck alone with a wallflower who is already betrothed… and she astonishes him with a fiery kiss, he forgets all about hiding.

To alter two destinies.

Although Charlotte appears meek, Kingston soon discovers there’s a vixen inside, yearning to break free. Unable to forget their illicit moment of passion, Kingston vows to relive the encounter, but Charlotte has sworn it will never happen again—no matter how earth-shattering it was. But will a devilish rogue tempt her to risk everything for a chance at true love?

out-now-png-7

This is the second book in Sophie Jordan’s: The Rogue Files series and I am even more in love with the series now after reading it.  I truly admire how creative the author got while writing this book, and how the different personalities and strengths of each of the sisters play together to make the perfect environment for Charlotte (the middle Langley sister) to bloom into the best form of herself as she finds her very unexpected place in the world.  Her ability to take a leading lady who we knew to be mild mannered and pull her completely out of character without sacrificing the integrity of the storyline is what draws me to her books time after time. I absolutely adore this book and love this series.

Charlotte Langley is content to marry her childhood friend, William Pembroke.  They are a well suited couple, she is ready to be his wife and eager to return to her childhood home and get back to the simple life she has been missing.  After taking one of her sister Nora’s herbal cordials to ease the pain of her monthly courses she finds herself acting in a manner that is completely beside herself and with a man who is not her betrothed.  Where her actions that night caused by the potion or were they her true nature making itself known?  Will she find herself in the content marriage she has planned or will her new found passions see her in the arms of another?

Since his last visit with his sick mother, Samuel Kingston finds himself tired of his life as a rake.  In fact, he hasn’t sought out the company of a woman in nearly a year and is on the hunt for isolation and solace when he arrives unannounced at the country home of his estranged step-brother, the Duke of Warrington.  He only intends to stay for the night as he is only passing through, that is until he is accosted in the middle of the night by the last person in the house he would have expected.  Will he continue on his journey of celibacy and solitude or will he extend his stay and discover the happiness he did know he could have?

As I said before, I absolutely adore this book and love this series. I really hope you do too and can’t wait for your feedback.

The Rakess by Scarlett Peckham(Review Post)

Published April 29, 2020 by bookbesties

The Rakess: Society of Sirens, Volume 1 by [Scarlett Peckham]

Meet the SOCIETY OF SIRENS—three radical, libertine ladies determined to weaponize their scandalous reputations to fight for justice and the love they deserve…

She’s a Rakess on a quest for women’s rights…

Seraphina Arden’s passions include equality, amorous affairs, and wild, wine-soaked nights. Her ideals are her purpose, her friends are her family, and her paramours are forbidden to linger in the morning.

Adam Anderson is a wholesome, handsome, widowed Scottish architect, with two young children, a business to protect, and an aversion to scandal. He could never, ever afford to fall for Seraphina. But her indecent proposal—one month, no strings, no future—proves too tempting for a man who strains to keep his passions buried with the losses of his past.

But one night changes everything…

What began as a fling soon forces them to confront painful secrets—and yearnings they thought they’d never have again. But when Seraphina discovers Adam’s future depends on the man she’s about to destroy, she must decide what to protect… her desire for justice, or her heart.

out-now-png-7

Let me introduce to you an author who is new to me and who I can’t wait to read more and share more of her work with you. This book is one heck of a way to start a series!!
Whew!!! In most H.R. books it’s usually the hero who is dark and brooding or has a
heartbreaker reputation, but in this book it’s the complete opposite! The hero in this book is the one who’s reputation is put in jeopardy by the heroine.

IT IS SO AWESOME!!!!!

She is such a bad girl and I fell in love with her from the moment I met her. I was moved by her courage, her drive, and her strength. I really appreciate how raw and exposed the author made her in order to really draw us into her world. This story isn’t about a woman scorned who is out for revenge. This is a story about a woman scorned who is out to create a revolution and it is
incredible! What do we want? Equality for women!!! Seraphina Arden is the voice of the Society of Sirens. As such she has an obligation to finish writing her memoirs so they can be used to further the cause. In order to meet her publishing deadline, she returns to her childhood home, the place that started it all, in the hope that it will remind her of the events, emotions, and injustices that set her on the warpath for change. Even though she may be away from the entertainments of London, that doesn’t mean she is ready to give up her hedonistic ways or the vices that help her keep her demons at bay. When she meets the handsome architect living next door, all she wants is a little no strings attached fun to distract her from the chore of being in this place and reliving these memories. Will her reputation precede her and ruin her plans to seduce him? Or will she finally see that “nice” isn’t so bad after all?

After the loss of his beloved wife, Adam Anderson is focused on making a name for his architecture firm and guaranteeing its success so he can give his children the best life possible. That’s how he and his family found themselves in Cornwall for the summer, living right next door to a sultry author. He is here for business. This is just one more commission on his way to bigger and better things for his firm and his family. He cannot afford to let an improper proposition from The Rakess distract him from his goals, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be neighborly and be her friend, right?
While I enjoyed this book tremendously, I will give you all a little warning; as you all know I am a historical accuracy nut, and this book did really well in that realm except for one word, used in one dialogue: “bejesus”. The part of the story that the conversation takes place in is set in 1797 and the first known use of that word is not until 1861. I know it might seem like I am nit-picking since it was just one word and it was only used one time, but when I read it, it jarred me right out of the amazing world the author worked so hard to create, and I wanted all of you to be warned. That being said I like this book and these characters so much and I truly cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Continuing her delightful Bridgertons Prequel series, #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn presents the latest love story between the Bridgerton and Rokesby families.

She was given two choices…

Georgiana Bridgerton isn’t against the idea of marriage. She’d just thought she’d have some say in the matter. But with her reputation hanging by a thread after she’s abducted for her dowry, Georgie is given two options: live out her life as a spinster or marry the rogue who has ruined her life.

Enter Option #3

As the fourth son of an earl, Nicholas Rokesby is prepared to chart his own course. He has a life in Edinburgh, where he’s close to completing his medical studies, and he has no time—or interest—to find a wife. But when he discovers that Georgie Bridgerton—his literal girl-next-door—is facing ruin, he knows what he must do.

A Marriage of Convenience

It might not have been the most romantic of proposals, but Nicholas never thought she’d say no. Georgie doesn’t want to be anyone’s sacrifice, and besides, they could never think of each other as anything more than childhood friends… or could they?

But as they embark upon their unorthodox courtship they discover a new twist to the age-old rhyme. First comes scandal, then comes marriage. But after that comes love…

This is a classic story of lifelong friends who circumstance makes them see one another as more than the friend next door, and I was addicted to it from the first line! In a time where a woman could be easily manipulated by men and the expectations society sets for their reputations, into an unwanted marriage this heroine stands her ground and refuses to allow a scandal to force her to marry a man she does not love. I admire strong leading ladies who stand up for what is right and who have the courage not to settle for less than they deserve.

Julia Quinn has given us just such a character and she is wonderful. Of course, a heroine of this nature is going to need a hero in her life who sees her potential and is willing to take chances with her to help her find success. This author has delivered both of these characters as well as a truly endearing story for them to fall in love by. The only fault I found with this book was that once it was finished, I found myself wanting more. Once I read the last page of the epilogue, I was left thinking that this story went by way too fast. There should have been more. It should have taken them a little longer to discover their true feelings for each other, maybe then I wouldn’t have finished the book feeling like their story was rushed.

That being said, the story
we did get was sweet and I really enjoyed it.
Nicholas Rokesby has been mysteriously summoned away from medical school by his
father. Upon arriving home his parents guilt him to participate in a crazy scheme to save the reputation of one of his lifelong friends and neighbors. The last thing he needs right now is to delay his studies by missing school just because his parents are determined that he should marry her and save her from this disaster. She is one of his oldest friends, like a sister, he has never considered her as more. There have never been tender feelings between them, and he doesn’t know if she will even entertain the idea of marrying him but if offering will keep her reputation from being ruined then he will do his part.
Georgiana Bridgerton is done crying over the injustice of being a woman. She is done
crying over the situation she is now faced with and the impending ruin of her reputation. She was kidnapped by a financially destitute scoundrel and held against her will for just long enough for society to dictate that she must marry her kidnapper. Too bad for society and for Freddie Oaks that she has no intention of them force her hand into any life she doesn’t choose for herself. A sudden, surprise proposal from one of her oldest friends sends her reeling and forces her to see the desperation of her situation. Will she give in and marry Freddie? Will she face
social ruin, or will she find happiness in the most unlikely of places?
Yes, I think there should have been a longer timeline in the story, but that doesn’t take
away from the fact that I adore these characters and their story, and I hope all of you do too.
