Jock Road by Sara Ney(Review Post)

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras. His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Repeat.
Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.

BIG. DUMB. JOCK.
Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

I am a Sara Ney fan so I was very excited for this one. Jackson was sweet and rocking that southern twang. Charlie is feisty and funny.  These two together have cute banter. Things happen when you are not looking for it. They both try to fight their attraction but we all know how that usually turns out.

Jackson has it all right now. He is well respected on campus and could have his pick of the women. Only thing is he wants no distractions and the focus is on his football life. What happens when after a chance mtg over a chicken sandwich life starts to take you on a new path. Charlie is starving but cant believe this southern big lug who has taken the food right out of her hand! After a couple more run ins with Jackson and she wants to dislike him but sees her self falling for him. Will Jackson be able to make room for Charlie?

This is Love by Natasha Madison(Review Post)

Published September 4, 2019 by bookbesties
From the best selling series, Something So comes the spin-off series This is…
Vivienne
Never fall in love.
That was my motto, and I was sticking to it.
Having my heart broken once was enough, and I never wanted to do it again.
He was supposed to be a one-night stand, the only thing I do.
One rule shouldn’t be so hard to follow, but then I went back for seconds, then thirds.
After that, I lost count of the number of times I lost myself in his arms. When I wasn’t paying attention, my guard slipped.

Mark
They call me Private Mark for a reason – my whole life is a secret. For two yeats, we danced around each other until I got her right where I wanted her…under me.
Now that I had her, I wasn’t letting her go. I thought we were on the same page. I thought we were building something great.
Boy, was I ever wrong.
I had no idea that while I was falling in love, she was trying to convince herself we were temporary.
She thought I’d walk away.
She was wrong.
Now it’s time to convince her she wants us too and to show her that the crazy, wild thing we have…

This Is Love (This is, #3)This Is Love by Natasha Madison

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Seasoned Natasha Madison reader alert!
I love a good sports romance and Natasha always delivers. The story line flows and she always delivers strong characters. Mark is this Greek God who plays hockey so win win. Vivienne is funny and feisty and french. The chemistry is so strong between these two that they burn the pages right on my kindle!

Vivienne is the serial dater not wanting to fall in the love trap. Mark has his sights set on the beautiful woman who never called him. Vivienne’s attraction to Mark has her giving in and breaking all her rules. Mark is determined to break down her walls but Vivienne will give him a run for his money. But,  when her past clashes with her present what will she do? Great quick read!  I would give it 20 stars if they would allow!

How to Catch a Wicked Viscont(Review Post)

Published August 27, 2019 by bookbesties

51EGnC83KHL

A young lady’s tarnished reputation might cost her everything in this first book in the Disreputable Debutantes series.

Shy, bookish Sophie Brightwell is expected to make an advantageous match to improve her family’s fortunes. However, Sophie’s plans to make a spectacular debut go horribly awry when she and her three closest friends are expelled from a young ladies’ academy for unbecoming conduct. Since the ton will be sure to close their doors on these disgraced debutantes, they determine that unconventional means need to be employed in the husband-hunting market. Rakehells—the beau monde’s wickedest members—might be the only men willing to overlook a young lady’s besmirched reputation.

But how does one catch a rake?

Nate Hastings, the devil-may-care Viscount Malverne, is the older brother of Sophie’s best friend, fellow disgraced debutante Lady Charlotte. When a terribly foxed Nate accidentally compromises Sophie, Charlotte strikes a wicked bargain: in order to avoid a scandal and the parson’s mousetrap, Nate must help Sophie snare a husband. But as Nate fulfills his obligation and begins to instruct the lovely Sophie in the art of luring rakes, he soon finds himself battling his own fierce attraction to her.

OUT NOW!!

This is the first book in the Disreputable Debutantes series and the first book by this author that I have read.  If the rest of the series is as good as this book I will be a huge fan of both!!   Normally I fall in-love and gush over the characters, while these characters are adorable, it is their story I am over the moon for.  This is such a cute and fun romance!!! From page one to the last punctuation mark this author had me hooked.  The thing that sticks out about this story are the interactions between Sophie and Nate as well as their individual interactions with Charlie and how they all influence the direction of the growing romance.

Sophie Brightwell is certain she has ruined her chance of having a society marriage and saving her family from their financial strife, when late night mischief gets her and her 3 best friends expelled from school and labeled as the Disreputable Debutantes.   Her best friend Lady Charlotte “Charlie” Hastings offers her an opportunity to rejoin society, and try to win over the only men who would be willing to over-look their tarnished reputations.   The only problem with their plan is that Sophie only has eyes for one man, and while he is a rake he is off limits.

Nate Hastings, Viscount Malverncan’t afford to love ANYONE, so he lives a life of alcohol, gambling, and debauchery.  All that ends when his father forces him to move back home and threatens to take everything away if he doesn’t keep his name out of the gossip rags.  When a serious mistake from a night of excessive drinking causes him to make a deal with his sister, Charlie, he is forced to help her best friend find a husband.  Will he be able to keep Sophie at arms-length and help her find a husband or will he succumb to his own desires and claim her for his own?

This was a great start of the series and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series holds.

First I must say when it comes to this Author there should be more than 5 stars.

The cover is enticing and I love the color scheme. You see it and its warming.  Now when you turn to chapter one Dominic is the first to speak and after the first sentences I knew I was going to have a sleepless night. There is something about these Piper Rayne books that I swear are like a drug and I am happy to have the addiction.! Ok so its book 3 and You have Enzo who was alpha , Carm is a charmer and Dom has been quiet and broody. Dom and Val have had a complicated past and it’s been off and on. There have definitely been some miscommunications and every time they thought it would be their time life would happen. Now present day you have Vegas and drinking with an explosive chemistry between two people and Tadaaa you have a marriage made in heaven. Well….. remember life is not easy and between this Italian families and an Ex husband it will be a long road. Yes I loved Dom he was broody but sweet and spicy. Both him and Val just had beautiful chemistry. The story is a roller coaster with twists. This is raw, relatable and real. My favorite couple of the series and damn ladies you put everything including the kitchen sink in this story lol. Another one click choice because this is romance at its finest!!.

The Quarterback’s Secret by Kylie King(Review Post)

Published August 27, 2019 by bookbesties

Zach
Taylor is in his prime. He’s star quarterback of his college and, of course,
all the girls clamor over him. Life is going great for the campus star…that
is, until his best friend’s little sister transfers to the school.
Zach
remembers little Janie Fuller all too well. She’s the same girl who snuck
around with him at night behind her brother’s back, and the same girl who asked
Zach to be her first.
Zach
doesn’t remember many girls’ names, but he will never forget what he did with
little Janie. Now she’s all grown up, and she knows exactly what she wants: her
brother’s best friend.
Zach
& Janie’s past soon catches up with them, and the secret crush they
harbored years ago returns full force. Neither of them will be able to resist
one another, and their struggle to keep their forbidden affair under wraps will
be much harder than they expected.

New author to me but this is a second chance, be others best friend and a sports romance so all of these pulled me in. This is a fast paced story but it’s cute and sweet. Janie has an encounter with her brothers best friend Zach but then he goes off to college. Of course its forbidden to have feelings for his besties sister so he tries to move on. A couple years later and Janie has transferred to her brothers college. Nervous to see Zach again but upset that he ghosted her. Will they be able to move on now that they are both on the same campus?

This is a fast paced read but I definitely enjoyed it. Well balanced characters. Sexy football player who has chemistry with the heroine check. This was a new author to me and I will definitely look forward to reading again from this author.

All of her books are quick and hot, with over-the-top fantasies that probably shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

Alessandro is known as a lot of things, playboy, Count, Instagram famous and hot but Catalina see’s a different side that not many know about..Killer?

Through all the twist and turns of this story, It felt at times that Cat was in over her head and
Alessandro was there to pull her out. There was so much action and plot twist it kept me reading and trying to figure everything out before it was revealed(which I never did). The ending gutted me but it was a great segway into what I assume will be another(or two other) books.

Great world building and story for new and seasoned readers of Ilona’s work!

Call Her Mine by Melissa Foster(Review Post)

Published August 15, 2019 by bookbesties

🔥🔥 Call Her Mine by Melissa Foster is LIVE!! One-click today!! 🔥🔥

Two besties and a baby make for an instafamily and a surprising romance in a delightful series by Melissa Foster, the New York Times bestselling author of the Sugar Lake novels.

Ben Dalton has always been honest, except where his heart is concerned. He’s been in love with his best friend—saucy, smart-mouthed Aurelia Stark—forever. But Ben’s a planner, and timing has never been on his side. When he finally decides to make his move, Aurelia beats him to the punch with a move of her own—to a different town.

Aurelia loves her new life in the charming town of Harmony Pointe. She has a great apartment and her very own bookstore, and best of all, the sinfully hot, commitment-phobic friend she’s crushed on for years is no longer just around the corner. Maybe she’ll finally be able to leave her unrequited love behind and move on.

But when a baby is left on Ben’s front porch—a baby that is presumably his—Aurelia is there for him. Neither one knows the first thing about babies, but how hard can it be? Ben and Aurelia are catapulted into a world of love, laughter, and tracking down the baby mama, and it might even add up to a very happily ever after… just not one either of them expects.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Friends to lovers is always a great story line.
Ben has been pining for his best friend and waiting for the right time to tell Aurelia that he has been in love with her . Aurelia has the hottest best friend named Ben and it’s been hard to be around him while he goes out and has his one night stands.
Aurelia is strong and independent character but has such a soft spot for Ben. Ben is sweet and sexy and in this story the teddy bear comes out. She has moved to a new town and is about to open a bookstore and try to move past her feelings. Ben never has great timing when a present is left on his doorstep and now as he comes clean with how he feels will Aurelia be able to return his feelings? As they try to navigate their friendship and life they hope that the odds are in their favor.

Love this story they have a special bond and it’s frustrating and heartwarming at the same time. The cover is so hot and that alone should make you read this story! Great read and a definite one click.

This was a new author to me and I love a friends to lovers story. I really enjoyed this story. It’s always interesting to see how deep the relationship is between friends. Pru has it all right now, two of the best girlfriends and a wonderful wedding business. Not to mention her other best friend Finn. She is ready for a baby and tangles her bestie Finn to help pick out a donor. After a night of celebration the morning brings to light the line that these two best friends have crossed.

Finn is a firefighter and is living his life of bachelorhood. Until Pru goes to her doctor and finds out her surprise is already on it’s way without having to use a donor.  Pru and Finn have a long history of friendship and have managed to be there for each other without crossing any lines. We all know that it’s just fun when the characters blur the lines. Finn was so sweet and thoughtful. Pru is very independent so she was all ready to deal with the pregnancy by herself. I love the banter between these two it flowed so well and you could really see the love they had for each other. The story was well written and I loved the banter with the two girl best friends. Overall great read and would definitely read any other books from this author.

A Little Light Mischief (The Turner Series, #3.5)A Little Light Mischief by Cat Sebastian

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is my first time reading a F/F romance let alone a Historical F/F romance. I’m glad my first was written by an author I adore! As usual for Cat Sebastian the heroines are well written and have lots of character. I like how she made the intimate scenes between Alice and Molly more real to life rather than the crap you see in adult films, that was one of the biggest reasons I hadn’t yet read any f/f romance books. This book has adventure, strength, empowerment, and acceptance, all things that make up a great story.

As the daughter of a impoverish Vicar, Alice Stapleton, was not prepared for her new life as a lady’s companion. But her new position not only saved her from starvation, it led her to make friends withMrs. Wraxhall’s lady’s maid. Through her friendship with Molly she not only discovers her sense of self, she is empowered to stand up for herself and right the wrongs done to her in her past. Her friendship with Molly also gives her the confidence her to embrace other aspects of herself that she denied herself in the past.
Molly Wilkins needs her position as Mrs. Wraxhall’s lady’s maid and she is determined not to mess it up or let anyone get in the way, not even the very attractive new lady’s companion, who can’t seem to take her eyes off of Molly. Will sharing the thievery skills she acquired to survive in the past help her and her new friend gain their independence, or will they be caught red handed and lose it all?

I am glad this was my first f/f romance. Let me know what you think of it?

The Rouge King By Abigail Owen(Review Post)

Published July 30, 2019 by bookbesties

9781640635319_fd636

A modern-day Game of Thrones meets JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series from paranormal author Abigail Owen.

Kasia Amon is a master at hiding. Who—and what—she is makes her a mark for the entire supernatural world. Especially dragon shifters. To them, she’s treasure to be taken and claimed. A golden ticket to their highest throne. Problem is, she can’t stop bursting into flames, and there’s a sexy dragon shifter in town hunting for her.

As a rogue dragon, Brand Astarot has spent his life in the dark, shunned by his own kind, concealing his true identity. Only his dangerous reputation ensures his survival. Delivering a phoenix to the feared Blood King will bring him one step closer to the revenge he’s waited centuries to take. No way is he letting the feisty beauty get away.

But when Kasia sparks a white-hot need in him that’s impossible to ignore, Brand begins to form a new plan: claim her for himself…and take back his birthright.

This was my first time ever venturing into the world of dragons, but the blurp seemed interesting and this is a new to me author, so I gave it a shot.

Kasia is a rarity in a world full of dragon, and wolf shifter’s as well as Vampires. on the run since her mother died protecting her and her sister’s from what they know as ruthless dragon’s who want nothing more than to use them for their own advances.

When Kasia can’t control her fire, which also allows her to see visions, she seeks help and winds up at a clinic where someone suspects what she is and rats her out.

Brand has been a rouge dragon shifter all his life, ever since his parents were killed and wants nothing more than to be able to avenge his families death. He is known as ruthless and mean and will do anything to further is goal. When he is dispatched to retrieve Kasia for a king he hopes to align with to help him with his revenge, he finds he is the only one who can control Kasia’s fire when her visions start. Brand’s sole mission is to bring Kasia to the king and keep her alive and out of the clutches of other shifters who would want to do her harm all the while not trying to fall to his desires that he has for the phoenix.

Kasia feel herself being drawn to Brand but know she should keep him at arms length, despite her ever growing feelings she has for him. When they fund themselves literally running for their lives from wolves, vampires and dragons the tensions between them come to a head, but now he has to hand her over to dragon king.

I found this story intriguing and I hate love triangles so I was a little concerned that it would be when Brand took Kasia to the Blue King but it’s done in such a way that it clearly isn’t a love triangle. I did find that the story was a bit longer than I felt (At the time) and I also thought the ending could have been shorter. Now looking back i get why the author put everything into the book(to build the world and relationship between the character) but I still felt the ending (which was a fight scene) was drawn way out.

For that I gave this 4 1/2 stars because the story was great and I definitely want to go back and read her other sires, also in this world.
