Jock Road by Sara Ney(Review Post)

Published September 5, 2019 by bookbesties

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.

Those are Jackson Jennings, Jr’s three mantras. His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one end-game: the Pro’s. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.

EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Repeat.
Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.

BIG. DUMB. JOCK.
Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night, in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

I am a Sara Ney fan so I was very excited for this one. Jackson was sweet and rocking that southern twang. Charlie is feisty and funny.  These two together have cute banter. Things happen when you are not looking for it. They both try to fight their attraction but we all know how that usually turns out.

Jackson has it all right now. He is well respected on campus and could have his pick of the women. Only thing is he wants no distractions and the focus is on his football life. What happens when after a chance mtg over a chicken sandwich life starts to take you on a new path. Charlie is starving but cant believe this southern big lug who has taken the food right out of her hand! After a couple more run ins with Jackson and she wants to dislike him but sees her self falling for him. Will Jackson be able to make room for Charlie?

The Best Friend Problem by Mariah Ankenman(Review Post)

Published August 12, 2019 by bookbesties

Prudence Carlson has been lucky in life. A fulfilling wedding-planning business run with her girlfriends in Colorado, plus the best guy friend ever in her firefighter bestie Finn. All that’s missing from it is a baby. Luckily, it’s the twenty-first century–Pru can take matters into her own hands. She doesn’t need to find true love to create the future love of her life.

Except all this talk of babies and insemination and…Pru and Finn cross a line they never expected to. Sure, one night of passion won’t change their close friendship. Until Pru goes in for a fertility check-up to find…she’s already pregnant.

As best friends, Pru and Finn have survived college, new jobs, and bad breakups, but can they survive crib shopping, birth classes, and late-night cravings. Especially when Finn has never considered himself even remotely Daddy material?

This was a new author to me and I love a friends to lovers story. I really enjoyed this story. It’s always interesting to see how deep the relationship is between friends. Pru has it all right now, two of the best girlfriends and a wonderful wedding business. Not to mention her other best friend Finn. She is ready for a baby and tangles her bestie Finn to help pick out a donor. After a night of celebration the morning brings to light the line that these two best friends have crossed.

Finn is a firefighter and is living his life of bachelorhood. Until Pru goes to her doctor and finds out her surprise is already on it’s way without having to use a donor.  Pru and Finn have a long history of friendship and have managed to be there for each other without crossing any lines. We all know that it’s just fun when the characters blur the lines. Finn was so sweet and thoughtful. Pru is very independent so she was all ready to deal with the pregnancy by herself. I love the banter between these two it flowed so well and you could really see the love they had for each other. The story was well written and I loved the banter with the two girl best friends. Overall great read and would definitely read any other books from this author.

From the best selling series, Something So comes the spin-off Series This is…

Zoe
When you grow up surrounded by hockey players you know one thing for sure, I was never going to settle down with one.

Heck, I didn’t even know what icing was. I was too busy climbing the corporate ladder, becoming one of the most successful realtors in New York City.

I wasn’t interested in dating or anything that got in my way.

First, he was my client and then he became my friend.

Viktor
My parents told me I skated before I walked.
When I was eighteen I was drafted into the N.H.L third overall, playing in Los Angeles—the city of dreams.
What more could I ask for? I played hard, but eventually, I partied even harder.

Five years later I was traded a week after I entered rehab.

There was no time for anything except my health and making sure I’d come out on top. I had to be better.
There wasn’t another option.

One of the rules of recovery was ‘don’t fall in love’ and I made it a top priority. She was off limits in every single way.

Until it was too late

One night, one decision, one act can derail everything.

When push comes to shove, I’m only certain that, This is Wild.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Who doesn’t love a sports romance and at best a hockey romance. I love this family they are relatable and funny.
Fresh out of rehab from his addiction Viktor Petrov has a long road ahead of him. Viktor has a lot of changes going on including being signed by the NY Stingers and will be leaving his old team in LA. He meets the sister of the owner of his new team and also new realtor, Zoe. There is attraction at first sight but Viktor knows she is off limits and during his recovery period he does not need distractions. Zoe keeps telling herself that she won’t date a client and hockey players but why doesn’t she believe herself? Watch Viktor journey towards his first year of sobriety and now that him and Zoe are settled on being friends well let’s see if that lasts!

I love the chemistry with all the characters and the story just flows so well. I have enjoyed this series thoroughly! 5 stars all the way! Great read

I’ve spent years hiding in the shadows.

He’s spent his whole life chasing the bright lights of the NBA.

We have nothing in common, except for the fact our friends ditched us for spring break.

I have a bucket list for my senior year at Valley U.

He’s the only person I know on campus.

I’m ready to start checking things off my list.

Frat party: Check.
TP the baseball house: Check.
Goat yoga: Check.
Skinny dipping: Check.
Falling for Zeke Sweets, Valley U’s MVP: Not going to happen.

Goodreads: http://bit.ly/TheTip-Off

This author was new to me when I started this series and I love her style of writing. In this series it’s a great group of friends that one by one start to fall.

Zeke is your top NBA draft pic and Gabby has a college bucket list. Zeke has been working hard and making sacrifices with the end goal of making it to the NBA until Gabby comes into his life and starts to change his perspective. Zeke has been low key not into big parties and has had great self discipline. After several years of online classes after her accident Gabby is finishing her last college year on campus and making a new norm for herself. Zeke only has room for friends and is not looking for any distractions as the draft is near and he might just make it……..

The relationship between these two is subtle and a bit of a slow burn. Gabby goes through a lot of different emotions after she was scarred after her accident. Zeke is a pleasant surprise, gentle and caring. If you love sports romances this book and this whole series would be a great series to read. Now cant wait for Nathan story next!!

I can’t make out her form until I’m halfway down to the water. She sits on the dock, feet dangling above the water. She’s so fucking beautiful and innocent and I want to ruin her and worship her all at the same time. I’m not going to do either of those things, though. I’m going to stick to the path. The path doesn’t include dating. The path doesn’t even include fun most days and Gabby deserves days that are all about fun.

She turns her head as I get closer and there’s that big Gabby smile pointed right at me. “Hey.”

“Hey, yourself. Whatcha doing down here all alone?”

“I thought we could cross skinny dipping off both our lists.”

My brows raise. “What about your tattoo?”

She shrugs. “It’s been a week. I’m willing to risk a quick dip if you are.”

I rub a hand over my chin. I’m not ashamed of my body, but I’d also prefer not to have my black ass photographed if one of my teammates happen to stumble upon us. Last year one of the sophomores got drunk at a party and passed out naked in the bathroom. I have no idea why he was naked in there, but the photos of his hairy ass were everywhere. My ass is baby smooth and awesome, but I still don’t want it on display.

“Well, come on before someone sees us.” She’s unbuttoning her shorts and pushing them down while I stand there gawking. The sight of her bare legs puts me in motion. Just not a part of me I want in motion right now. I turn around, give my dick a little pep talk that includes promises I won’t be a celibate asshole forever, and then undress to my boxers.

“You decent?” I ask over my shoulder.

“No. Oh my God, don’t look.” She laughs, I hear her footsteps on the dock and then a splash. A few seconds later, she calls, “Your turn.”

I push my boxers down and then hold my hands over my junk, semi-erect still because promises be damned, and take two large steps before jumping in beside her. Her happy squeals direct my entry into the lake as I clear the water from my eyes. We’re treading water buck naked not two feet from one another. It’s a little trippy. I haven’t spent time with a girl naked like this in… well forever. If I’m naked and this close to a girl, it’s for one purpose and though I’m a gentleman, of course, it’s not about anything but carnal desires being met. Thrusts and grunts and release.

I don’t think it would be like that with Gabby. No, I know it wouldn’t be like that, which is another reason it can’t happen.

“So now what?” she asks, suddenly looking a little nervous.

“Far as I know, this is all there is to it. How do you feel?”

“Naked.” She laughs. “But also like a rebel.”

She splashes water at me playfully and I do it right back.

“Think anyone can see us?”

I shrug. “Maybe. Do you want them to see you?”

“God, no,” she says too fast. The excitement in her eyes is a dead giveaway. I think Gabby likes the thrill, the possibility of being caught, and God help me because I want nothing more than to keep her safe while she explores every sordid fantasy.

Operation Bailey Wedding(Review Post)

Published July 23, 2019 by bookbesties
No one could have guessed a
marriage could sprout from a one-night stand, but Holly Radcliffe and Austin
Bailey appear to be written in the stars. From the backseat of Austin’s Jeep to
the altar they come. The town of Lake Starlight along with the Bailey’s are
prepping for the event of the year, but as usual things never go smoothly with
these nine siblings and let’s not forget Grandma Dori!

This is a novella in the Bailey series!

If you have been reading the Bailey series then you will enjoy this Novella of Austin and Holly’s upcoming nuptials. The book starts several days before the big day and I love how each chapter is from the different siblings.

To see each of their POV I think was a great idea. This book just makes you fall even more for this great big family. I have always loved The Baileys they are so relatable, warming and inviting.

You get a little more glimpse of Sedona and Phoenix and of course you can’t forget about Grandma Dori who is still up to her shenanigans! I love the writing style of their books because they flow so easily and always makes me excited for the next book. Soooooo…. you will definitely want to read all pages till the end because the sneak preview well….😁😁😁 Thanks for another 20 star read!

DIRTY FLIRTY ENEMY(REVIEW POST)

Published July 16, 2019 by bookbesties

He’s the arrogant Manhattan
realtor with billboards advertising his six-pack more than his expertise in
negotiations.
I’m the competing broker who stupidly moved across the hall
from his office.

From day one, I’ve been his sworn enemy. Okay, so I might
have accidentally stolen one of his clients. Well, is it stealing if the client
comes to me?

Even our vicious banter and loathing gazes can’t hide the
chemistry between us. Who can blame me? He has enough charisma to make every
hot-blooded woman in the city melt with a single word.

Just when I think a mutual respect could be born between us,
the biggest developer in the city offers us an opportunity that pits us against
each other.

Time to forget Carmelo Mancini’s dreamy eyes and tight abs.

Game on.

Just seeing that the author is Piper Rayne would be enough to one click and buy, but for everyone else I guess we will talk about the book a little.

Once again we see the second Mancini brother in this series and he is sex on a stick and charm that drips off the pages.

Carmelo Mancini is this hotshot sexy realtor broker and his enemy is Bella the FSBO(for sale by owner) broker who seems to be giving our boy Carm a hassle and she just moved her office right next to his……cue sexual tension and rivalry.  They both are put on with the same client to try and sells a condo on the floor they were given. With just a little competition,  sexual tension, and alpha male, what could happen?

The banter between these two is exhilarating and sweet. Bella is not a pushover but is a great strong character. I can’t say enough how personable and relatable these characters are. They are very homey and warming. This is an excellent read. The last of the Mancini brothers has been quite mysterious so I cant wait to see what’s in store. Thanks for another great read!!

A Pizza My Heart by Teagan Hunter(Review Post)

Published June 20, 2019 by bookbesties

Most people would probably be
embarrassed to land themselves back in their hometown and working at a pizzeria
after an ugly divorce.

Not me.

It’s home, and I have one last shot to make Wren Daniels see me as more than
just her brother’s best friend.

When the opportunity to show her what’s been right in front of her this whole
time presents itself, I take it, holding nothing back this time.

Wren thinks we’re pretending, but there’s nothing fake about the way I feel.

After all, she’s always had…a pizza my heart.

Foster has always had a huge crush on his best friends sister Wren. After a failed marriage Foster is back in town and has his sights set on Wren. He left all those years ago to try and forget his feelings for her but will he be able to win Wren over and show her what’s been there all along? They start their “fake dates” and feelings start to stir up for Wren.

Poor Foster who had a crush and ended up having to go through some pain just to get to where he is at now. Wren needed some work to see that her true love has been under her nose this whole time. I liked the side characters they were well developed. I mean I love Pizza so the story is a win for me lol. The chemistry feels one sided at the beginning and slow burns it’s way up . This was a smooth read lots of funny parts that will have you chuckling.
