This is Crazy(Review Post)

Zara Stone

All my life, I’ve said I will never date a hockey player. I know better because I’ve seen and lived it all. My father is a hockey god, my brother is the captain of the most successful NHL team in the world, and my brother-in-law also plays in the league. Their lives are complicated, so I went in the opposite direction.
I fell in love with a scholar. But instead of proposing marriage, he broke up with me.
Three months later, I saw his engagement picture on Instagram. I couldn’t let him get away with that. No, it didn’t matter what, I was going to make that man see that I did not need him.

Evan Richards
I was in the running to pass my point record from last year, ready to claim the number one spot in the league. On top of my game, I was riding my career high wave.
Then, Hockey’s Princess, Zara Stone tweeted me. She wanted me to crash her ex’s wedding.
The worst that could happen? A PR nightmare. The best? A fun night with a beautiful woman.
It started out as a game—something I’m good at. Her crazy idea twisted into something I wasn’t looking for, something neither of us wanted.

When push comes to shove, one thing runs through my mind:
This is Crazy. Also, this is crazy right.

Yes, this is crazy…….crazy good!

Okay, first the cover is very appealing and second it’s a sports romance, and third, HOCKEY! I was IN!

Right from the first sentence you will be able to tell that the story will have you engaged. Zara(loved her name) has to deal first with her boyfriend breaking up with and then finds out that he proposes to another female. What would you do? Well social media here she comes and she gets the attention of Evan who is a cocky, uber good hockey player. They meet and the attraction is sizzling.

I loved all the characters. Her family are hockey greats also and Zara has a twin who always has great one-liners to say! The story flowed easily and it will have you flipping the pages to see if she can get revenge on her ex or will she give in to her attraction to Evan. And Evan, ladies Evan will be your new book boyfriend. He is so sexy, sweet and always has the right words. Trust when I tell you that this book is making me go on a binge reading anything by Natasha! Thanks for the great read.

How to Date a Douchebag: The Lying Hours(Review Post)

Published May 9, 2019 by bookbesties

ABRAHAM
DAVIS—Honest Abe to his friends—IS IN OVER HIS HEAD…
He’s a fixer
and a do good-er. The all-knowing, resident “grandfather” on the
wrestling team who everyone relies on to fix their problems. His teammates go
to him for everything; advice, homework, or when they need a sober driver at
three in the morning–whether he likes it or not.
Abe’s
current mission is easy: mend his roommates broken heart by helping him find a
girlfriend on the LoveU app–without getting caught in the lie…
SKYLAR
GABRIEL. IS. OVER. IT.
Over her bad
grades. Over her meddling older brother and his two best friends. And over
dating douchebags. What she wants to know is: where have all the nice guys
gone?
She longs
for a handsome, sweet, and honest guy who can make her laugh. In one last ditch
effort to prove that he exists—Skylar turns to LoveU.
On her worst
day, Skylar has no filter (it’s a miracle she hasn’t been ditched mid-date).
On her best,
she’s as wholesome, and sweet, as pie.
On Thursday?
She matches with Abraham Davis’s roommate.
Skylar
Gabriel is falling for the wrong guy—she just doesn’t realize it yet.
Why?
BECAUSE ABE
DAVIS IS A LIAR.

I was excited to review this book since I have read the rest of the books in the series, and loved them.

Abe Davis is on the wrestling team and also does the bidding for his roommate JB. His roommate is on the Love U app which is the school’s version of Tinder, and he has Abe filtering his matches. Abe comes across Skylar who seems different from the others and right away he is hooked. Skylar is looking for a relationship and after her friends talk up the Love U app she decides to give it a try.

She loves the exchange with JB(aka Abe) on the app but when they both go on a date she is left wondering where is the sweet and funny guy she has been talking to? Abe hates the fact that JB has this great catch but is showing his true jerk qualities. This whole time I am yelling at my kindle because I want Abe to show himself to Skylar but he is feeling some Bro code and keeps quiet until……Skylar finds out that in a way she was Catfished with these two and then the race for Abe to try to redeem himself is on!

I felt Abe was a bit weak at times and felt the ending left a bit to be desired. Overall not my favorite in the series but I am interested in Skylar’s roommates book. This is a great series to read.

Stay by Tia Louise Cover Reveal!

Published May 8, 2019 by bookbesties

Cover Design: Shanoff Reads
Cover Photographer: Wander Aguiar

Stephen
Hastings is a control freak.

He’s arrogant. He’s smart as a whip and sexy AF.

He has too much money. He’s bossy, and he’s usually right.

All I saw were his clear blue eyes, tight ass, and ripped torso.

I gladly handed him my V-card that night, ten years ago.

I was so stupid. I swore I’d never be that stupid again…

Emmy
Barton works for a dry cleaner?

Yes, that Emmy Barton—long, blonde hair, bright blue eyes, pretty smile…

Sexy little ass. Smart mouth.

She was the only girl who interested me, but I was leaving to be an officer in
the Navy.

Now
I’m home, running my business. My life is perfectly ordered until I bump into
her, divorced and struggling to make ends meet.

I hate seeing her like this. I hate that she married Burt “The Dick” Dickerson.
What an asshole.

She
says she hates me, but when we fight, it’s all heat and lust.

I won’t leave her this way.

She will let me help her and her son. She will stay…

It’s a thin line between love and hate, and this line is on fire.

Kiss Me Tonight(Review Post)

Published May 2, 2019 by bookbesties
I had it all.
The Super Bowl rings.
The hot shot TV gig.
Then I got fired.
Now I’m living in
middle-of-nowhere Maine, playing assistant coach to the woman of my nightmares.
Did I mention that she
and her son are my new neighbors?
If you talk to the
locals, they’ll tell you Aspen Levi is the queen of high school football.

But if you ask me, my new head coach is a pain in my left nut sac.

She’s too blonde.
Too peppy.
And way too sexy for my
peace of mind.
Only, one minute we’re
fighting, and the next I can’t keep my hands off her. One hot kiss. One
forbidden touch. I don’t do love but . . .
What I want, I take, and
what I want is Aspen Levi.

💍Paperback: https://amzn.to/2PIGMOP

This is my second book I have read from this author so I definitely was excited to read this book and hoped that I would enjoy it.

The two characters in this book are in their 30’s so it’s a refreshing change from the young college age romances. Dominic DaSilva is a retired NFL player with many accolades under his belt. He needs away from the limelight and needs to hide after going on a dating show failure. He is hoping that the small town of London will be the right fit. Night one and as he is nursing his beer at the bar he meets Levi Aspen who herself is back in her hometown of London. She is bouncing back from her failed marriage of 15 years. Only good thing is her teenage son.

She finds herself intrigued by this solid, beautiful man sitting in the stool by her. After striking out with Dom she goes home. Well of course life is sometimes not fair. Levi is the new head coach of her high school football team and it so happens that her assistant coach is no other than Coach Dom. Now, one he has to deal with being the Assistant and Levi now has to work alongside this sexy beast . The chemistry with these two is scorching and Levi is funny with her thoughts of being in her 30’s , having a kid and how her body looks and her feelings for this man that is gorgeous and wanted by every lady he looks at. The journey of Dominic DaSilva healing his wounds and allowing himself to try and open up to Levi is beautiful.  Levi was very young when she married her ex husband who was older than her and he controlled every aspect in her house. Dominic challenges her and tries to break down her walls. This is a funny sexy relatable romance that will have you panting one moment and sighing the next. Great read very much enjoyed!

Prince on Paper(Review Post)

Published May 1, 2019 by bookbesties

9780062685582_bbf4a

The Reluctant Royals series returns with a good girl searching for the life that’s not too big, and not too small, and the bad boy prince who might be just right for her.

Nya Jerami fled Thesolo for the glitz and glamour of NYC, but discovered that her Prince Charming only exists in her virtual dating games. When Nya returns home for a royal wedding, she accidentally finds herself up close and personal—in bed—with the real-life celebrity prince who she loves to hate.

For Johan von Braustein, the red-headed step-prince of Liechtienbourg, acting as paparazzi bait is a ruse that protects his brother—the heir to the throne—and his own heart. When a royal referendum threatens his brother’s future, a fake engagement is the perfect way to keep the cameras on him.

Nya and Johan both have good reason to avoid love, but as desires are laid bare behind palace doors, they must decide if their fake romance will lead to a happily ever after.

OUT NOW!!!

This is the second book by this author and from this series I have read, and while like its predecessor it is not a historical romance I thoroughly enjoyed it none the less.  This book was a total run read and every minute of it had a smile on my face.

Dating games on her phone were Nya Jerami’s window in to the world of romance that she was to self- conscious to enter in real life. Until the wedding festivities of her best friend brought her together with the one man she has had a secret crush on she was never allowed to dream of being loved by anyone but her family.

Johan von Braustein aka the Tabloid Prince of Liechtienbourg aka Bad Boy Jo-Jo is known for being the life of a party and the paparazzi couldn’t get enough of his wild antics. Too bad for them they only saw the mask of the man he wanted them to see. At his best friend’swedding he finds himself in close proximity with one of the few people who is able to see the man beyond the mask, and it just so happens that he has been crazy about her for a while.

This book isn’t a historical romance but it absolutely reads like and follows a similar story line to all of my favorite H.R. books.  I really enjoyed seeing Nya find her inner strength and watching Johan shed his Bad Boy persona all as they fall completely in love. I couldn’t put this book down and I hope it is the same for you.

Down With Love(Review Post)

Published August 7, 2018 by bookbesties

Out Now! Get it HERE!

Sparks fly when the hot-shot divorce lawyer meets the high-powered wedding planner. The only question is, what kind?

If you ever get married, remember my name: Max Henderson. In my line of work, you acquire a certain perspective on supposedly everlasting unions. . . .

1. Pre-nups are your friend.
2. The person you married is not the person you’re divorcing.
3. And I hope you didn’t spend much on the wedding because that was one helluva waste of hard-earned cash, wasn’t it?

But some guys are willing to take a chance. Like my brother, who thinks he’s going to ride off into the sunset with the woman of his dreams in a haze of glitter on unicorns. And the wedding planner—the green-eyed beauty who makes a living convincing suckers to shell out thousands of dollars on centerpieces—is raking it in on this matrimonial monstrosity.

The thing is, Charlie Love is not unlike me. We’re both cogs in the wedding-industrial complex. As the best man, I know her game—and I can play it better than her. But after one scorching, unexpected kiss, I’m thinking I might just want to get played.

This ebook includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

Opposites always attract right?
Well what about a divorce lawyer and a wedding planner?
First let me say that this is was a new to me author and while I love finding new authors, there is always a hesitations going in. With that being said, this book had me from ‘GO’ just by that alone. Meet Max, the brother of the groom who is a divorce lawyer. Charlie the wedding planner for his brother’s weeding and obviously, loves, love. When Max first hears about his brothers wedding plans he is happy for him but as a realist he knows that love is not always 100%. He has been there and done it and has the t-shirt, mug and souvenir photo. He meets Charlie and has an instant attraction when he find out she is the wedding planner. Even though they both have different views when it came to marriage she still feel’s that spark whenever she is Max around. The relationship starts to evolve and walls start to come down. Max starts to change his views while Charlie wants to stay as a one night hitter, but when that spark’s combust it made for one steamy read.
This was a flirty, fun read with a dash of spice. These two characters were well developed and funny. Great Job Kate Meader I will def be reading more of your amazing stories!

A Duke by Default: Reluctant Royals(Review Post)

Published July 25, 2018 by bookbesties

51va5KTGY7L

Award-winning author Alyssa Cole’s Reluctant Royals series continues with a woman on a quest to be the heroine of her own story and the duke in shining armor she rescues along the way…

New York City socialite and perpetual hot mess Portia Hobbs is tired of disappointing her family, friends, and—most importantly—herself. An apprenticeship with a struggling swordmaker in Scotland is a chance to use her expertise and discover what she’s capable of. Turns out she excels at aggravating her gruff silver fox boss…when she’s not having inappropriate fantasies about his sexy Scottish burr.

Tavish McKenzie doesn’t need a rich, spoiled American telling him how to run his armory…even if she is infuriatingly good at it. Tav tries to rebuff his apprentice—and his attraction to her—but when Portia accidentally discovers that he’s the secret son of a duke, rough-around-the-edges Tav becomes her newest makeover project.

Forging metal into weapons and armor is one thing, but when desire burns out of control and the media spotlight gets too hot to bear, can a commoner turned duke and his posh apprentice find lasting love?

Ok all my fellow HR nerds, I am giving you fair warning right now.  While it does involve a Duke, THIS IS NOT A HISTORICAL ROMANCE BOOK.  That being said this book was a fun read!  It was a nice break from my typical genre and I really enjoyed it. Getting to know Portia and her view of herself was like getting to see my own internal reflections, which made it really easy to become fully engrossed in this book.  Her sassy interactions with Tavish made me wish I had her quick wit.  I love how she was able to bloom and grow and find herself through Tavish and the other character’s eyes.   This is the first book I have read by this author and I will be on the look-out for more.

Playing Hurt by Kelly Jamieson(Review Post)

Published July 2, 2018 by bookbesties

He’s playing hurt. She’s laying low. And they’re both flirting with disaster.

“Kelly Jamieson is my go-to author for hockey romance.”—Jami Davenport

Chase: The last thing I’d ever want to do is let my team down. After overcoming my bad-boy reputation, I was dominating on the ice. But things aren’t going so well this season, and even my parents think I’m partying again. Now I’m really worried about my career. The only bright spot in my life is the Twitter flirtation I’ve struck up with pop princess Jordyn Banks. Turns out she’s a huge hockey fan—and she’s willing to wager a date on her favorite team. . . .

Jordyn: Even though I’m an L.A. fan now, I’ve always had a soft spot for the Aces, since I grew up in Chicago. Then I lose a bet to Chase Hartman, and suddenly I’m up close and personal with a pro athlete who’s anything but soft. Not only is Chase the hottest guy I’ve ever met, he’s secretly super sweet. As if I had time for a relationship . . . yeah, right. But when I suddenly have nothing but time on my hands, he’s the only one who understands. Now, with both of our careers at stake, Chase is tempting me to put my heart on the line too.

This ebook includes an excerpt from another Loveswept title.

OUT JULY 17TH!(CLICK ON COVER FOR LINK)

I love a good Hockey romance and I have read books from the Aces series before. and loved them, and this was a winner for me! Jordyn is a famous musician and Chase is a starter for the Aces! Chase can’t believe when Jordyn and him start a banter on Twitter, after all he has had a crush on her for a while. After date number 1 Jordyn knows that her feelings for Chase will be more than a one time thing. Chase and Jordyn are such a cute pair! Between injuries and daily stress and then mix in some miscommunication and their relationship is on shaky ground! The banter between these two is exhilarating and fun! This was an new way of starting off a romance and, for me, this book had it all; a Twitter battle, some hockey and music all swirled into one to make this book a hit! This was a great read for me and can’t wait for the next in this series!

Damn Travis you got me,Again!

Published April 4, 2013 by bookbesties

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)

First, if you haven’t read Beautiful Disaster then STOP, and go read it.

That being said, I wanted this book so much, more than Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edward’s POV) and finally an author actually did it. How many times have I secretly asked this, begged even and Jamie McGuire did it, retold the same story from the male’s POV. If you fell in love with Travis in BD then you will absolutely want to marry him in Walking Disaster.

The story was the same and then it wasn’t,  it was refreshing to see it from Travis’s POV, I mean I thought I had the whole story with BD but I now know the full story. I loved having the other half of the story, I felt a little disconnected to Abby in this book, but that was because this wasn’t her story. She had her story told, now it was Travis’s, which meant more Shepley, whom I love (best supporting actor, ever) and more Trenton who I can’t wait to hear his story. Travis and Abby’s relationship is very tumultuous and seeing the story from his side show’s you just how much (homeboy crazy).

Everyone who had read BD knows the story so I’m spoiling anything when I say this; the breakup scene from Travis’s POV was

I thought it was sad told from Abby’s POV, but from Travis’s POV It killed me! Even though I knew what was going to happen it still got me. There is something about a guy as tough as Travis ‘Mad Dog’ Maddox literally losing his mind over a girl. Although its fiction us women out there all want that guy (if we don’t have him already) that will be our Travis.

image

The Epilogue was a good way to wrap up the story without leaving anything left to question and we got a glimpse into what happens later in life for everyone. I wasn’t left disappointed, thank you Jamie McGuire.

4 out of 5 stars.
