This is the second book in the Misadventures in Matchmaking series and it is just as good as the first!!!! I love the imagination, tenacity, and courage of Briar and seeing how all three traits played into this story. I adore this family and seeing the success of their matchmaking agency (even if the sisters seem to be the primary ones who find their perfect matches) in a time where such things were taboo warms my heart.

This is one of few books where I can honestly say many times I genuinely laughed out loud at the banter between the naive yet witty leading lady and the smug, self-assured leading gentleman. Their relationship had me giggling and sighing all at the same time and that isn’t normally something that happens for me in H.R. books. I am eager to read the next installment of the Misadventures in Matchmaking and see if the oldest sister finds her perfect match.

This is a really good book!!! I was hooked from page one!! This book has a little bit of everything all mix in together to make this one of my favorites from 2018. I love these characters and their dedication to their causes and their determination to see even their most unconventional dreams come true. From a secret masquerade sex club to blackmail to a girl’s home to a steamy romance this book had me itching to see what happened next with every page I turned.

Thomas is one of my favorite heroes for 2018 due to his strong sense of honor and his ability to grow and adapt his sense of duty to insure he both fulfills family obligations as well as standing steadfast in what is personally important to him. It’s those qualities that same qualities in Lucia that make them such a strong couple. Each of their individual drive made them strong characters, added together it made them an unstoppable couple.

The last of the spinster heiresses has found love! It just took her standing up for what she thought she wanted in her life for her to get everything she actually wanted. As you all know I adore these ladies and their misadventures as they navigate the Season as “spinsters” to find their true loves, and this book was a perfect close to that time in their lives. Willa is yet another brilliant display of this author’s ability to create strong women characters who are feminine and smart as well as independent and steadfast.

I really like how this book is both a continuation of the stories told in the first two books and the story of the relationship of the individual couple without compromising either story line. I am going to miss these ladies but can’t wait to see what is next from this author.

This is the fourth book in this series that I have read, and I fall more and more in love with these characters and this family with each new book. This book is about Elizabeth, who if have been following the series, is the last member of this family I expected to find love.

In all of the previous books she was such a secondary character and the little we knew of her made her seem to be quite busy taking care of her mother with little time for romance. But Mary Balogh has done a wonderful job of bringing her out of the shadows and into the spot light to find her true love where she least expected it. I really like reading stories where love and happily ever after happen for someone who would be considered an underdog and Elizabeth is the perfect leading lady for such a story.

Seeing this couple realize their feelings for one another and that they were both completely wrong in their judgments of their individual compatibility gave this story a playfulness and joy that is both heartwarming and refreshing. I love watching Elizabeth find her personal fortitude in the face of scandal and seeing her perseverance carry her through. I am excited to read the romantic adventures of the next member of this family.

This is the first book by Christy Carlyle that I have had the great pleasure to read. I love how independently strong both Mina and Nick are but when they are together their vulnerabilities are bared for the other to see. The trauma of Nicks childhood gives him such depth of character it would have been easy for Mina’s character to be lacking in compassion, but impressively this author used her unwavering loyalty to give her a depth that matches his. I really enjoyed this book and these characters and I cannot wait to see what comes next in this series.

The wedding highly anticipated wedding of Nevada and Conner has arrived and with Nevada being Nevada she fired the wedding coordinator/planner and nowhere family has to take charge and make her the happiest bride ever on her special day. Catalina rises to the challenge and will not let anything spoil her sisters day, including the theft of a Rogan family heirloom(diamond) that Nevada is supposed to wear on her wedding day.

Catalina is hired by Rogan’s mother who doesn’t want her son to know that she too suspects someone from her side of the family that is less loved took the diamond . As much as Cat doesn’t want to use her magic because she feels it’s too powerful she knows she must in order to pull this weeding off without a hitch. Even though Cat is shy she is a Baylor and when she is challenged by more than one of Rogan’s over privileged cousins she shines!

So much scandal and I was very impressed with Cat’s story and I thought that I would miss Nevada and Conner knowing this would be the novella that phased them out to start focusing on the others but I am super excited for Cat’s story!

I get excited when I read a new author and love the nervous butterflies in my tummy because I hope for a good book and this book sounded like it would be great.

Nik is a freelance writer who is at a baseball game with her boyfriend of 5 months when low and behold said boyfriend is down on a knee and asking that question most girls would be happy to hear. Nic is mortified because how can she tell him no in front of millions? Who wouldn’t day no, they have only been dating for 5 months and she wasn’t that really into him in the first place! Enter Carlos and his sister Angela who are watching everything unfold and Carlos comes to her rescue and saves her and friends are made. Carlos is sexy doctor and single and Nik and Carlos are both looking for no strings relationship.

Yep of course it won’t be smooth sailing! The banter between these two is magnetic from the start! Carlos family is sweet and funny and real! This story was sweet, sassy and magnetic. This new to me author did well in captivating me. I was glad to have a page turner! Loved it and definitely two thumbs up!

I find myself sucked back into the wonderful world that Jennifer has created with the Luxen, Origin and Hybrids, oh my with The Darkest Star.

This book basically picks up 5 years or so after the last book in the Lux novels; Opposition leaves off. The invasion has ended we see Evie, a young human girl going to a nightclub with her friend where Luxen are known to frequent. What could go wrong? Enter Luc, Luc is hot, young and infuriating to say the least and naturally Evie can’t stand him, but at the same time is drawn to him in some strange way. From the moment GO, Evie was thrown into a crazy world where Luxen and Humans co living are not the only things she has to worry about. Luc is bad news the most powerful of all the Origins ever, she has seen him kill without breaking a sweat, Evie knows this, but she can’t seem to stay away from him and he as a familiarity with her that she finds disturbing. When Friends turn to enemies and kids start going missing, then turn up dead, Evie thinks she has seen the worst, but Evie’s life is blown apart and threatened all in the span of 48 hours Luc will stop at nothing to protect what’s his.
