Book Boyfriends(with pics) your’re welcome!

Published April 11, 2013 by bookbesties

Book boyfriends, we all have them; we all wish they were real. And to be honest if they were we’d have a hard time picking which one we’d leave our significant other’s for if given the chance. But the beauty in book boyfriends is that they are not real and we can drool over them all we want. So here are my book boyfriends, most of these have killed for their main ladies and ALL are hot (cause that’s kinda all that matters) and because I love you, I have pictures to match!

Travis Maddox, if I thought this fighting tattooed hunk stole my heart in beautiful disaster he stole it more in walking disaster. Travis is the epitome of a fighter; he fights hard for everything in life, especially for the girl he loves. There is something about a tattooed man with a temper and a possessive streak but is just a scared little boy deep down that gets to me every time!(Beautiful Disaster)

What list wouldn’t be complete without Christian Grey; we all know who he is, the very complex and gets-what-he-wants Mr.Grey. Let’s be honest, Christen is an asshole, but he is so smooth he could talk you out of anything within minutes; therefore he is not for everyone, but he loves  hard and gives his women the world. While he is a wounded soul he is also very loving and again, has that strong possessiveness mixed with that don’t mess with me attitude that makes him lovable, yet kind of scary. (Fifty shades of Grey)

(This is MY Christian Grey)

Gideon Cross may be the most tragic and complex of all the book boyfriends and yet the most lovable  Much like Christian in some ways with the wealth and smoothness, Gideon differs in the smolder, yes the smolder. He is just in my opinion hotter.  Gideon is a fighter and a lover and knows when to separate the two and knows no bounds when it comes to keeping the women he loves safe.(Bared to you)

Patch/Jev may be a fallen angel but, he is such a bad boy fallen angel it not even funny. Patch is just bad enough to be considered dangerous and to stay away from but he has a story like most bad boys and the whole fallen angel thing draws you in. Topped with his aggressive nature to keep his MC out of trouble and the lengths that he goes to and why you can’t help but to fall in love with him. I’m a sucker for the whole I hated you but I now I love you underlining story. (Hush,Hush)

Daemon Black is an alien but trust me when I say not the gross Independence Day kind. He is so very hot. So hot he should not be in a YA book. But talk about being mean and well, an ass and that’s Daemon. But he has his reasons and being the strongest out his race has to do anything with it then he has plenty to go around, fiercely protective to those he loves and let’s not forget about the cockiness. He should were a shirt 24/7 that says ‘cocky bastard’ cause that’s him, he even gives Jace from the Mortal Instrument series a run for his money! But once he lets in his MC you see that he is in face just like a normal human boy and had feeling too, and can love!(Obsidian)

Aiden St. Delphi he is the only one out of the book boyfriends who has not been at some point in his books be a total asshole. Aiden is pure swoon material if ever there was one. He is the take him home to mamma type material. At six and a half feet strong and built (because he has to fight for a living) this Pure blood who can shoot fire from his hands will make you melt with one look.  Aiden will stop at nothing to protect his MC and will try to kill anyone even a God whom he knows he cannot defeat if it meant protecting her. He is the true believer in ‘love conquers all’ motto and will give it all up to be with his one true love and for that he is my top book boyfriend. (Half-Blood)

(Yes its had to be the biggest)

There you have it, I’m sure there are more and I have more, but I could not put more into this post if I tried, if you have more feel free to add them in the comments below, I’m always on the lookout for more book boyfriends!

Apollyon you sooo didn’t disappoint!

Published April 9, 2013 by bookbesties

Apollyon (Covenant, #4)

I was all types of excited to see that Apollyon was released early; I could hardly contain my excitement!

Apollyon is the fourth book in the Covenant Series by my fav JLA (Jennifer L. Armentrout) and it picks up right where Elixir (a novella in between Deity and Apollyon) left off. If you have not read Elixir, than you may want to before starting Apollyon, just to get the back story.

The Covenant series is basically a Greek mythology series with a lot of action and the right amount of smart-assnes. If there was ever a book series that should be made into a movie it should be these. Alex is a half-blood (the offspring of half mortal/ half pure blood) and she lives in a world where half-bloods are given only two choices; fight or be a slave. In this world pure bloods (offspring of both pure-blood parents) kinda rule and have their freedom to do whatever they please. Her one mission in life is become a Sentinel (like a part of an army) that fights and protects the Pure’s. Because that other choice?  Pssh, Alex is no one’s servant.

The previous books (Half-blood, Pure, Deity) are so packed with action and twist and turns in every one and they are based off the Greek mythologies what more could you ask for right?

Alex has connected with the First (Seth) and has lost herself to him and everything he wants become what she wants, she is being held in a reinforced cage so that she can’t break out and go to him, because one touch from him and he will become the ultimate god-killer.

Aiden her one true love is not willing to give up on her so easily though and fights like hell to make her come back to him, when she does they have to find a way to make their happily ever after come true, right after they save the world from a war between the Gods (Zeus, Poseidon ect.) and the First who will stop at nothing to gain ultimate control and rule Olympus.(homeboy crazy)

Alex is presented with a choice, she now she has to kill the First but at what price to her? And will she make the right choice?

We see more about Seth and what kinda makes him tick and that maybe his feelings for Alex were not all fake and why Alex is having such a hard time decided if she can kill him or not.   I loved this book, because I am a fan of Love and also team Aiden( go Aiden), they got to spend so much time together and be in the love bubble before the pooh hits the fan (in Sentinel). I missed Alex and all her snark

“They couldn’t kill me…..I was the Apollyon… My eyes locked with the Fury’s and I smiled. She hesitated and I snapped to my feet. “Bitch, please.”

And can’t wait until the fifth and final installment Sentinel comes out, they just get better and better with each one.

4 out of 5 stars.

Raven’s Gate(The Power of Five) Gatekeepers

Published April 8, 2013 by bookbesties

Raven's Gate (The Gatekeepers, #1)

I  have to tell you about the Anthony Horowitz’s Book Series: The Power of Five (Raven’s Gate)

Ok let’s start with Raven’s Gate, which is YA paranormal, I first got this book from the library just based on the name of the book series and the book cover.(I’m a cover whore) I know never judge a book by its cover well I am glad it caught my attention since I was engulfed into the Anthony Horowitz’s world. First we find the main character Matthew Freeman who Is living in England ever since his parent’s mysterious death by downing which he somehow prophesied. WHAT?

So this kid somehow got his inner Ghost on (aka Whoopi Goldberg) or should I say call me now for your free psychic reading! Either way I dived into the book more. Matthew who now is living with the guilt of not warning his parents of their death becomes a bad ass kid ( Juvenile Delinquent) But we find one of his thefts go bad and someone gets stabs and his other friend leaves the scene and Matt is left to take the blame and is arrested and is given a choice. ( WTF how do these people get choices?)

image

Well it’s either jail or living in the country with an old woman name Jane Deverill. Well being that Matt does not want to go jail he chooses to live with Jane. (BAD MISTAKE) So Matthew is now in the village with this old crazy lady and things just are not what they should be? Matt even tries to run away and finds that he can’t leave the property. Can you say “Houston we have a problem,” now Matthew figures out he is  surrounded by a coven of evil witches who are seeking to free a horde of demons known as the OLD ONES who were somehow imprisoned by Matthew some thousands of years of a go along with four other children, (Hence the Power of Five). So now Matthew either needs to give in and be a part of the Witches Stone Soup or find his inner power and become a Gatekeeper!

I found this book  to be a great opener to the power of five book series. Matthew is such a Bad Ass and I loved the characters that come along with this book. I definitely would give this series a try. 4 out of 5 stars!

The next book is Evil Star Stay tuned for that review!

Damn Travis you got me,Again!

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)

First, if you haven’t read Beautiful Disaster then STOP, and go read it.

That being said, I wanted this book so much, more than Midnight Sun (Twilight from Edward’s POV) and finally an author actually did it. How many times have I secretly asked this, begged even and Jamie McGuire did it, retold the same story from the male’s POV. If you fell in love with Travis in BD then you will absolutely want to marry him in Walking Disaster.

The story was the same and then it wasn’t,  it was refreshing to see it from Travis’s POV, I mean I thought I had the whole story with BD but I now know the full story. I loved having the other half of the story, I felt a little disconnected to Abby in this book, but that was because this wasn’t her story. She had her story told, now it was Travis’s, which meant more Shepley, whom I love (best supporting actor, ever) and more Trenton who I can’t wait to hear his story. Travis and Abby’s relationship is very tumultuous and seeing the story from his side show’s you just how much (homeboy crazy).

Everyone who had read BD knows the story so I’m spoiling anything when I say this; the breakup scene from Travis’s POV was

I thought it was sad told from Abby’s POV, but from Travis’s POV It killed me! Even though I knew what was going to happen it still got me. There is something about a guy as tough as Travis ‘Mad Dog’ Maddox literally losing his mind over a girl. Although its fiction us women out there all want that guy (if we don’t have him already) that will be our Travis.

The Epilogue was a good way to wrap up the story without leaving anything left to question and we got a glimpse into what happens later in life for everyone. I wasn’t left disappointed, thank you Jamie McGuire.

4 out of 5 stars.
