Charley Davidson..My first book Girlfriend!
Published March 7, 2013 by bookbestiesCharley Davidson is a cross between The Ghost Whisperer and Veronica Mars (I know Veronica Mars) and I so want to be her when I grow up!

I did a review earlier on First Grave on the Right and it was like chips, you can’t just have one! I finished the rest of the books (out so far) in about 4 days (I’m a fast reader) and cried like a baby because the fifth book isn’t out yet! WHY!!!!
Charley Davidson is a Grimm Riper without the black robe and Scythe, more like great boobs (Danger and Will Robinson) and killer shoes, with ADD and attitude to match!
“With Great boobs comes great responsibility.”
I decided instead of doing each book I’d just combine them because really you’re not going to start the series in the middle (duh).
****Spoiler*****
Second Grave on the Left: This picks up where the first one left off, Charley figured who the Reyes is or WHAT he is and is dealing with that nugget, when she is pulled out of bed by her best friend/ receptionist Cookie about her missing friend. After going to a coffee shop and finding the friend not there as well as encountering a departed soul in Cookie’s trunk Charley is hired by Mimi’s (the missing friend) husband to find his wife. Charley not only has to find the missing women, but also unravel the mystery behind dead trunk guy (her words not mine), then there is Reyes. Reyes Farrow is the convicted felon serving a life sentence because he was accused of killing his father, Earl Walker. Reyes is able to leave his body (because he is the son of Satan) and come to Charley in incorporeal (ghostlike) form to save her life, talk to her and make her hot, literally. He has walked out of the facility he was in after waking up from a coma and is being tortured by daemons and has decided to let his human body die, only Charley is not having that and in a move that she pulled out of her ass did something that was like WHOA! You don’t want to piss off the son of Satan let me tell you!
Third Grave Dead Ahead: After pissing off the son of Satan, (like really bad) Reyes, Charley is being haunted by him in her dreams. I’m not talking boo! Type haunting, I’m talking every time she closes her eyes he is there giving her the most UH-MAZING orgasms known to man! (Why complain right?!) The only problem is that she isn’t getting any sleep, so she survives on coffee non-stop while working on her latest cases (she always has more than one) a missing wife, again and who poisoned a dog of a local biker gang. Charley has not slept in 13 days and is still able to provide the top notch hilarity that she is known for.
“Give it up? Not likely. Besides what else would I do? I totally should have gone to Hogwarts when I had the chance.”
She also has to deal with the fact that Reyes (the HOT son of Satan) has escaped prison and dropped the bomb on her that the man he went to prison for killing, Earl Walker, is indeed very much alive. Not only did this man do unmentionable things to Reyes when he was a kid (including kidnap him from his birth parents) but he is also insane and Reyes has set out to find him, with the help of Charley. She also learns some things about herself in the process and by the end of this book my mouth was on the floor by what happened! (Can’t tell you, read the book)
Fourth Grave beneath My Feet: Charley is broken, or depressed whichever way you want to look at it. And with good reason! With the revelation of what Reyes did to her and the Earl Walker thing, along with her dad riding the crazy train she has had it with life and has vegged out in front of her T.V. for the past two month. Reyes has been released from prison after having been cleared of all charges of murder and because of what he did, Charley want’s nothing to do with him, yet she keeps seeking him out! This type of romance kills me! I love the I want him, I don’t want him thing. Daemons are attacking her full out now and because she is the portal to haven that Satan wants Reyes (the son of Satan who fell in love with her) will stop at nothing until she is safe. But Charley while on her latest cases gets conflicting information about Reyes and that he may not be who he claims to be. She has this overwhelming fear because of the Earl Walker thing (again, can’t tell you, read the book) where she was not afraid before and that fear is what leads the daemons right on her doorstep. This book was intense because of the relationship or lack thereof she has with Reyes, we all know they are in love with each other but neither will flat out say it and there are consequences for falling in love with the son of Satan. (Naturally)
Still choked full of laughter I found myself laughing even HARDER at this book.
“I parked in front of a NO PARKING sign. Since it didn’t specify to whom it was referring, I figured it couldn’t possibly be talking to me.”
I love Darynda Jones!! I am SOOOO excited for the fifth installment to come out; it’s like Nutella on toast to me at this point! If I didn’t have a n E-reader this would be one of the books I would camp out over night for at the local 24 hour book store. (They should totally have those)
Because this post has gone on long enough of my LOVE for all things Charley Davidson do yourself a favor and get the books, like now. you will not be disappointed, and if you are then too bad!

First Grave on the Right, Where have you been all my life?!

OK, OK I know.. I Missed the bus on this when it came out, In fact it too was at my very large TBR pile and I figured I would get to it sometime… man what the heck took me so long first off?!

From the moment I opened the book I knew I would love it instantly and I did.
“This whole grim reaper thing should have come with a manual. Or a diagram of some kind. A flow chart would have been nice.”
Yes, this book is about a Grim Reaper, a female grim reaper / PI/ smart-ass extraordinaire, who named her boobs “Danger” and “Will Robinson”. I could not stop laughing out loud at this book, literally.

From the things coming out of her mouth to the witty phrases at the begining of each chapter
“I may not look like much, but I’m an expert at pretending to be a ninja. -Bumper sticker”
Charley Davidson is a grim reaper, the grim reaper without the whole black robe thing. She helps departed souls say goodbye to loved ones and in most cases help them find out who murdered them. This is where we find Charley at the opening of the book, three Lawyers have been killed on the same night and they all worked for the same firm, coincidence? Charley doesn’t think so and with he help of her Uncle Bob, a Skip tracer (think Avery from Grey’s Anatomy) and her best friend/secretary Cookie, Charley brings in the bad guy. She does all of this while being visited by a mysteriously beautiful man that ..umm.. gives her THE BEST DREAMS EVER. But when she starts remembering things about the dream man and then find out that he is not so much a dream but very real, Charley becomes obsessed with finding out who he is. And when she dose it’s a perfect way to Segway into the second installment of the book which I am downloading to my Kindle as I type.
I loved this book from beginning to end, it had just the right amount of paranormal without reaching and just the right amount of mystery and some romance sprinkled in. And who wouldn’t love that cover? The shoe alone…. Anyways,
5 out of 5 stars!

Never Too Far
Published February 27, 2013 by bookbestiesBy: Abbi Glines
I was SUPER excited for this book to be released so I could finish the Rush and Blair story.

Within the first few pages I was shocked. Usually I’m used to reading books that have the “whhhhaaat” moment in the middle or the end if its a two-parter but this had me like

But in a good way.
Continuing from Fallen Too Far it’s been three weeks and we find Blair having to come back to Rosemary after having her world shattered by the one person she trusted the most. She now has a secret that is threatening to shatter her world and the man she left behind. Rush is a shell of a person without Blair in it and once she comes back he is hell bent on making her stay, with him; and will do whatever it takes. I found myself waiting for the other shoe to drop while reading it, I was thinking it can’t be that easy.. she comes back and assumes her old job and even has a place to live right off the bat. Since the shocker from the first few pages carried throughout the book and I was 80% done I thought nothing major was going to happen and they would ride off into the book sunset. (silly me)
I found myself shouting at the the book (RUSH to be exact) when said event did happen and was all

He can’ be this stupid ..BUT the book did have a HEA (happy ever after) sort of. In places it felt kinda rushed and I would have liked there to be a epilogue to show what happens a few years or even months down the line just to see how it all tuned out, but I think we as the readers can fill in the blanks. 4 out of 5 stars.

Waiting too Long for Never Too Far
Published February 26, 2013 by bookbestiesBy: Abbi Glines
I reviewed this book when it first came out in December, but now that Never Too Far(Part 2 of the saga) is releasing TOMORROW!!!! (can you tell I’m excited), I thought I’d post my mini review of if in honor of it.
Abbi Glines has outdone herself with this book. I had been hearing about this book all over social media and while I had intended on getting this book because I am a huge fan of Abbie’s having read many of her books in the past; I still had a huge TBR pile and this was just going to be added to it. But once I saw SO many great reviews I had to move this book to the top of my pile and boy am I glad I glad I did!. Where do I start? Blair set’s out to go and live with the father who abandoned her and her mother years ago, after her mother died from cancer and left Blair not having any where to live as she sold everything to pay off her mother’s medical bills. Blair is thrown into this lush world with fancy-schmancy everything and being a southern homely girl feels out-of-place.

RUSH is her new step-brother whose mother married Blair’s father (who he can’t stand) and has to offer her a room under the stairs (very harry potter, but not) until their parents get back from their honeymoon. Blair is not some helpless female that needs to be saved, she is strong and fearless and I LOVE that. As she starts to trust Rush and other people around her more she finds that there is a running secret it seems the whole town knows EXCEPT Blair and when she finds out, it’s too late.

I love that it wasn’t a typical girl falls for guy, guy breaks her heart love story BAM story over.WHILE the story did break MY heart its far from over and I can’t wait until March for Never Too Far!.
And TOMORROW the story continues and I for one will be ready with my Kindle at 12am and then glued to it like a fat kid and Nutella!

The Perks of Waiting…
Published February 23, 2013 by bookbestiesBy: Stephen Chbosky
When I first heard about this book it was about 7 years ago before it was being made into a movie and I read the first few sample chapters from Kindle then got to reading something else and it fell to the waist side. Then the movie came out and all this hype was put around it, now I’m not one for watching movies based off of books before I read the actual book so I avoided the movie and all mentions of it like the plague.
.
The movie is out on DVD so I figure OK, NOW I can read it.
The book is set in the 90’s and is written in a series of letters by “Charlie” to “Dear Friend.” It chronicles his life as a high school freshman who is a loner and awkward to say the least. He meets this brother and sister duo Patrick and Sam who are seniors at a football game when he was trying to “participate” and the three instantly hit if off even though Charlie is younger than them. The Book or letters tells his story of going through his experience with his friends and you come to find that Charlie is a strange fellow but also special. He cries, A LOT throughout the book and has an odd way of looking at things, through his experience he gets his first kiss, first girlfriend and first breakup, and has his first acid trip and is just exposed to all the things older kids are exposed to as he is again younger than they are (15). I was pleasantly surprised there was a lot of book time given to The Rocky Horror Picture show as it’s one of my favorites and I hope they kept that in for the movie.

We find out later, not until the very end; when all his senior friends are heading off to college why Charlie is the “way he is” and it blindsided me.

I thought it was one of those quirky coming of age stories and it is, it just has something deeper behind it in the end and Charlie last letter kind of leaves me feeling that he really will be OK. All in all I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars because I did like it, but I am glad I waited on this one.

Chapter Breaks Necessary
Published February 22, 2013 by bookbestiesHopeless: By Colleen Hoover
This Book
ok…
I can’t say anything BAD about this book! it was amazing the best Colleen has written so far! If you are a fan of her other works then you should be warned that this book is NOTHING like her last two, it has mature subject matter and language(although not much on the language). She made Sky so likable, and then Holder; the two of them together! Don’t even get me started. The book is told in a journal entry format by Sky, the main character with her starting her first time in high school after being home schooled all her life and her best friend six moves away all in the same week! (whoa, right?) She meets Holder who dropped out of school for being just bad in general and one other friend at school who is “Mormon”. Because of the reputation her best friend had she is a slut by reputation and is hated by all, but she is drawn to Holder or rather he is drawn to her. With some flashbacks added in here and there we get to unravel the story of sky (and, the insanely hot and hot-headed Holder) at the same time that she does.We find that sky is not who we or she even thinks she is, and when that story is FULLY.. unraveled

The emotional twist and turns the book took me for was just amazing! I couldn’t put it down! Just when i thought “OK, i can breathe, what more could happen right? WRONG! I love the ‘terminology’ she makes up for all her books! (at this point you should be running out and getting Slammed and Point of Retreat). I don’t want to give too much away but I needed countless ‘Chapter Breaks’ (read the book and you will understand) throughout the book and If you haven’t read this book yet, you NEED TO, like NOW. Five stars to Colleen and
