Saying “I love you” doesn’t erase the old scars and fears.

“I love you to insanity. I’m not even sure if it’s a good thing.” — Duke

Skye is trying to overcome what happened with Sean. Now that she’s slowly healing, both physically and mentally, she’s determined to do something she should have done sooner.

She’s meeting twice a week with a new, very young therapist, Dr. Marshall.

There, she’s able to talk freely, unwind, and question things. Most of the sessions she talks about herself and her hangups, along with her relationship with Duke, which is still on rocky ground.

“I want to taste his sweat. I want to hear his groans. I want to feel him inside of me.” — Skye

But while Skye is slowly getting back on her feet, Duke feels like he’s drowning. He’s afraid of pushing her too much, of initiating intimacy, and it’s weighing between them. Moreover, knowing that he’s not the one she’s talking to anymore is making him feel things he never thought possible.

“It’s a matter of when I’ll stop fighting.” — Duke

As days pass, Duke is showing over and over how vulnerable he truly is and how Skye has more power over him than she ever imagined.

When Skye sees how they keep hurting each other, she’s determined to do everything in her power to make things right, no matter what the cost.

But one thing is still sure; she can count on Duke whenever she needs him, even if they disagree and fight. When Duke loves, he loves with everything he’s made of, the good and the bad.

“Loving her is confusing, making me afraid of myself and what I can do … because I can break us both.” — Duke

“What if I am already broken into pieces?”

She hates to be touched, hiding under her oversized shirts and behind her wild frizzy hair. Even her bubbly roommate can’t reach her. And yet …

“I’m the guy who knows how you can hurt so much that your insides feel like they’re cut and bleeding.”

The tall, handsome, and tattooed TA in her psychology class changes everything when he literally collides with her and confronts her. For the first time in a long time, she wants to try and open up to this guy whose dark, intense eyes can’t hide his own pain despite his dazzling smile getting to her.

However, just when she’s starting to live again, her ex-boyfriend comes back, breaking her time and time again, making it all the more complicated.

She wants to fight for herself and for this building thing with the TA, even when he pushes her away, but can two broken people patch each other up?

“I never thought colliding with someone could change lives, but it is possible.”

Change Up on Goodreads: Change Up (Patch Up, #3)

Change up

In Patch Up and Fix Up you had Skye and Duke’s story.

Now, it’s time for Derek and Kate to find their path.

He fights for the people he loves.

She fights against love.

Kate Andrews is starting her second year of college in Seattle. She is happy to leave Chicago and her dysfunctional family behind to be with her friends again. Growing up she thought that her parents’ loveless marriage was all her father’s fault, but that summer she discovered that things are so much more complicated in life and love. Her mother is bipolar. That doesn’t mean her father isn’t unfaithful, nor does he support her and her choices. Additionally, he isn’t a great father or husband, but it brings a new perspective in her life; the way she envisions love.

Derek Williams graduated college a few months ago, and while he moved back in again with his single mother and teenage brother, he never thought that he would be struggling with two crappy jobs. He is not succeeding in either of his jobs or in his countless plans for the future. Instead, he’s trying to bring back his brother and set him on a straight path, while trying to avoid the wrong crowd hounding him, thanks to his brother. Together with fighting his mother on her lack of support in their family, this all has caused chaos.

“Yes, my life is a fucking mess. I have nothing for that girl who deserves everything, and yet I still can’t just sit on my ass and wait for the next asshole to pursue her.‘’ — DEREK

Both of them are very different. Their upbringing is opposite; their vision of love and life contrast, and yet …

“I want to open up to it, open up to the possibility of heartbreak even if I’m scared to death. I’m ready to change up.” — KATE

They’re both still hung up on each other. They can’t forget that one night they shared months ago, can’t ignore their attraction and quickly maturing love. They match in every way that matters, but time and time again their respective families are getting in the way.

“He’s the commitment kind while I’m anti-commitment.” — KATE

Are they willing to fight for each other? Is Kate ready to risk her comfort and everything else for love? Is Derek prepared to chose which battles are worth fighting for?

“It’s never been friendship, and it’ll never be.’’ — DEREK

Excerpts

Author Bio

I live in Southern New Jersey with my amazing wife, who is also my best friend. We live just outside of Philadelphia and about an hour from an awesome selection of beaches. It was on a beach that I wrote my first short story and I love to spend as much time as possible there. There is something so invigorating about the sun and the blue skies.

While this is my first novel, I am already working on my second and hope to have many more to come. When not working on writing books or my blog I am a husband to an amazing woman, and a father to two fantastic young adults. I am also a corporate finance professional that spends the rest of my time helping executives and business leaders improve and grow their business. It is some of this experience, which has helped bring this story and the sequel to life

Character Interview

Hello, my name is Robert Cutter and I am the owner and chief executive of Cutter & Co. an investment firm in New York City.

Mika: Hello Robert. Welcome to my blog. I’m going to ask you a few questions so my audience can get to know you a little better.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Robert Cutter: My greatest achievement up until a couple of months ago was making something of myself. I didn’t have much to start with. Thanks to my mentor for taking a chance on me, I was able to accomplish more than I ever imagined. I now have more money than I ever dreamed of, houses, cars, power, prestige, and women.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Robert Cutter: It’s a tough choice for me. Signing a deal to buy a company and adding it to my portfolio or riding through the streets of Manhattan in my Aston Martin with a beautiful woman beside me. Probably business first, the car is nice but I do enjoy the challenge of turning around a struggling company and making it stronger.

Do you have any secrets you want to share that were not revealed in Cutter?

Robert Cutter: No more secrets for me, well you never know what might happen in book 2.

Do you have any siblings? If so, will we have an opportunity to get to know them better?

Robert Cutter: I never knew my parents, so I don’t know if I do have any siblings.

Any particular scene you enjoyed the most?

Robert Cutter: Towards the end of my story I learn something amazing that changes my outlook on parts of my childhood, and even changes how I see the future me. It teaches me that you should never lose hope in people.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Robert Cutter: This is hard for me to answer, because I never really give women much time. In my life, my focus is on work. I run a multi-billion dollar investment firm with many subsidiaries that are counting on me. That leaves very little time for dating, but I do have lady friends. They are beautiful and I enjoy having them around. I always found women to be more of a distraction than anything. (Exhales) To answer your question, the best quality would have to be dealing with me not settling down.

When did you know you were in love with your heroine?

Robert Cutter: It took me awhile to decide that I really loved her. But, we had a connection right from the start. It was hard for me to accept these feelings because I really don’t have the time for this in my life.

Did your story end too soon?

Robert Cutter: I am hoping my story isn’t over.

What is your greatest fear?

Robert Cutter: Not having money and being poor again.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Robert Cutter: My house in Cape May, although I don’t go there this time. I had it built for me and did a take a part in the architecture and design, but I actually have not even seen it yet.

Which living person do you most despise?

Robert Cutter: I try not to hate or despise anyone. In business you have to keep bridges open at all times.  But there is one person who constantly gets under my skin, you will get to know him. I don’t really think he is a bad guy, but he put my friends in danger, and that is unacceptable.

What is your greatest regret?

Robert Cutter: My one regret is that my mentor doesn’t get to see me succeed. He would have liked that and hopefully he would be proud of me.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Robert Cutter: I would like to play a musical instrument, perhaps the piano.

Where would you like to live?

Robert Cutter:  I live in Manhattan with a house in Cape May and stay in the best hotels in the world. But, it does get cold here in the winters. I am not sure to be honest if I could ever give up Manhattan, it is just so alive. Constantly moving like I am with running and building my businesses.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Robert Cutter: People say that I am a workaholic, but considering how I grew up I just believe that a man can never have too much. People have to make their own luck, and take their chances when they get them. Sometimes it doesn’t work out, but so far it has for me.

Who is your favorite hero of fiction?

Robert Cutter: Gordon Gekko. He was a genius.

Who are your heroes in real life?

Robert Cutter: My real life heroes are police and firefighters of New York who ran into the World Trade Center, and protect us every day. I also think that the doctors and nurses in our hospitals are incredible people. You will meet one in particular who stands out above the rest.

Great interview Robert. It was a pleasure meeting you. I wish you all the success!

Sociopath by Lime Craven Cover Reveal

Published October 9, 2014 by bookbesties

Sociopath-LimeCraven-1600x2400
Book: Sociopath
Author: Lime Craven
Genre: Dark Romance
Synopsis

The name’s Aeron Lore. And you are…? Such a pleasure to meet you, sweetheart. Is that a southern accent? Gorgeous.
You fucking bitch.
Why so surprised? I control a billion dollar fortune. I control the news. Give me five minutes and I’ll control you, too. If you could read my mind, you’d probably call me perverted. Unnatural. Manipulative. But I’ve learned to blend in, to be funny and charming. A predator in a designer suit.
I have no conscience. No shame in taking the things I want. And what I wanted was for Leontine Reeves to sell me her boutique tech firm so I could exploit the fuck out of it. Maybe exploit the fuck out of her, too, because desire haunts me in shades of scarlet, and I desire Leo most of all.
I never meant for this to be a love story. I fought it kicking and screaming, the same way Leo fought me. Now we’re bleeding into each other, making a mess. A chaos. There’s no control here. And what do monsters like me do when control leaves the building?
We attack.
Excerpt

SOCIOPATH
Often, at this time of night, I go into my gym room and pound out a few miles on the treadmill. Work on the weights. Not tonight, though; not after the meeting. I’m hungry for other things.
A long hot shower is where the build-up starts. I rub at my thighs with soapy hands. Take deep lungfuls of steam. Watch my cock harden as the water beats down, making it bounce and bob. I don’t allow myself women often—I’m too easily distracted by the ripe promise of flesh. But Miss Reeves and that ass. Jesus. I have to seduce her into selling her business; may as well go the whole nine yards and seduce her into other things, too.
In the bedroom, I don’t wait to dry myself, so my damp skin sticks to the sheets. No matter. I wrap a lubed hand around my cock and just squeeze intermittently. Teasing. This is what her pussy will feel like, this tight, ebbing grip. Breath slips through my teeth in a cold hiss.
Leontine told me that her name means lion, and it makes for a pretty line but it’s not what she is. Beyond those bedroom eyes and that surly, almost submissive manner, I know her type exactly; she’s the kind of girl who’ll let me play with her pussy until she’s wetter than an April morning, who’ll look pained and keep still while I lick her overripe clit. She won’t want it, not really, will keep the fight inside and pretend it isn’t happening. And then her orgasm will come from nowhere—desperate and aching—and she’ll claw at me while I claw at her sweet spot, fingers jabbing harder than she ever thought she’d like.
The words she’ll say in that accent. The haughty, breathy hitch in her voice when she comes—now that’s my kind of drug. Why has nobody figured out how to charge for that yet? Hookers don’t come like good girls; they rarely come at all, actually, but even when they do, it’s always spoiled with fake gratitude afterward. I don’t care if a girl thanks me for her orgasm, and I prefer it when she’s still too traumatised to get the words out, but Jesus. Sex is all about honesty—that’s what makes it sexy. And sex is one of the few things I can actually be honest about.
Which is why I don’t have it too often.
I stroke myself; long pulls, short twists at the head. The throb of impending orgasm climbs the muscles of my inner thighs. With each new streak of heat, I lean further into the pillows, back braced, chin tipped. Eyes squeezed shut. In the darkness, Leontine comes back into view, walking away from me in the lobby with her perky, sculpted ass bobbing in goodbye. The mere thought of it bare sets my teeth on edge; I can see her bent over, ass high, her pussy peeking out beneath like a split peach. She’ll want to be fucked when I’m done with my tongue and fingers. She’ll want to be full, to feel something else. Something risky. Bloody. Ah.
She looked almost frightened of me earlier. If I had a conscience, I’d feel bad for thinking of her like this: bent over, begging for it, trembling with pleasure and fear. But I don’t. And when I spray half a hell of cum over my abs, groaning and panting with the force of it, there’s no devil on my shoulder.
There’s just an empty room, a damp bed, and the dark undertow of impending sleep pulling me down, down, down.

Author Bio

I like dysfunction. Broken people who can’t fix each other, but fit together because they’re missing the same pieces. One of my favourite songs declares, “take the sinner down to feed desire,” and that’s my MO. I write dirty psychological thrillers with strong elements of dark romance.
I love antiheroes. Female characters who don’t just accept their faults, but downright exploit them. No nice boys. No shame. Mindfuckery for all.

Have you STILL not gotten Shame by Rachel Van Dyken?! What the heck are you waiting for?!

Published October 7, 2014 by bookbesties

Everything done in darkness, will eventually be brought into the light.

I ran, but all it did was keep me one step ahead of my past. I tried to start over; new name, new identity. But you can’t change your soul.

A fresh start at college was just what I needed. For a while, it worked. I was the party girl, the one that seemed confident, but it was a lie.

When guys kissed me–I felt only pain.

When they touched me–Nothing but fear.

Deep inside, every girl wants to be the beauty in the story, to find someone that will see you as their world.

But the truth? I was the beast. And as much as I wanted redemption, I wasn’t fool enough to think I’d ever get it.

Until he walked into my life.

I wasn’t prepared to fall for someone. My scars were too deep, the wounds too raw. But he offered me peace, he offered me security. I should have known it was just another lie–I should have known that falling in love with my professor was a bad idea. But I was powerless to stop myself from falling. And he was powerless to catch me.
Because the darkness finally caught up to me, and as fate would have it, a cruel twist almost bled me dry. But I’m stronger than I knew. I’m stronger than you think.
You think you know my story, but you don’t….after all everyone has Shame in their lives– and I’m no longer afraid to show you mine.

Viper’s Den part 1

Published October 7, 2014 by bookbesties
Book: Vipers Den
Author: Eliza Brown
Genre: Contemporary Romance Novella
1st in a series of Novella’s
SALE!

Synopsis

I’m Piper Jones, owner and operator or Vipers’ Den; a hair and beauty salon catering to the unconventional. My clients are often referred to as: eccentric, freaks, or misfits.

I’m also single, a fact my mother is less than pleased with. Making it her mission to change my status, she continually sets me up on dates with her friend’s offspring. Only her roster of “gems” is dwindling. Each date is worse than the last.

Then Kade Benson, the one man I have loathed for as long as I can remember, approached me with the most asinine (borderline genius) plan I’d ever heard to rectify both of our situations.

As ludicrous as it is, it might just work.

However, I never expected things to work out the way they did.

Testing the Submissive Blog Tour!

Published October 4, 2014 by bookbesties

Book: Testing the Submissive
Author: AL Daltrey
Genre: Dark BDSM Erotica (Fiction)

Synopsis:

Abby stood nervously before her Master in the classic submissive pose: fully nude, legs apart, wrists placed behind her back; deeply ashamed of her evident arousal. Worse, she had to recount in exact detail the proceedings of her last whipping. The whipping had been severe; as was the case with most of the clients she was commissioned to serve. Most of these clients were men, some were women, on occasion a couple, or even a group. Nevertheless her body reacted like that of a wanton whore as she retold of the sadistic punishments and extreme sexual use inflicted upon her body.
How far would her Master push her with these ‘tests’? How far would Abigail go? How many times could she stand before him blushing; yet with that unmistakable tingle? Their relationship was surely headed for a collision course. Or was it?
This story contains STRONG BDSM. While fully consensual, it includes submission, dominance, sadism and masochism. Please do NOT buy or read this if you are offended by graphic sexual descriptions including sexual violence. All characters are aged 25+, and it is recommended for an adult audience ONLY (aged 21+). This story is pure fiction and the author does not condone any violent behavior.

Author Bio:

By day I work in Marketing, which involves a fair amount of writing. Therefore, I never really had an interest to write for pleasure. When you do it all day, the last thing you want to do when you get home, is more writing. All the while, as my career progressed, so did my involvement in the BDSM lifestyle.
This interest in kinky sex started in my University years. Like most men, I loved meeting women, and especially the occasional one who didn’t mind being tied up, or blindfolded, or spanked. All sex was great, but kinky sex was more exciting, more exhilarating, and more fulfilling.
Over the years I was lucky enough to meet my fair share of submissive women. And don’t for a minute think these women were weak. Outside the bedroom they were confident, opinionated, gregarious and self-assured. However, inside the bedroom (so to speak) they wanted to feel the strong firm hand of a dominant man taking complete control.
Eventually I found the perfect partner, and am happily in a relationship.
One day, I flipped my laptop open, and to my surprise – I had an urge to write a BDSM story. Soon I had 20 pages, then 40, then 60. The novel that resulted is pure fiction and more extreme than anything I’d subject a submissive to in real life. As many reviewers have said it’s not for the faint of heart. That said, the reviews have been spectacular. This enthusiastic response fueled me to begin a second book. The next one will be written from the point-of-view of both the Dom and the sub, chapter by chapter.
If you decide to read my book, or any of my future efforts, I truly hope you enjoy it.

Yours truly, Al

Reapers Stand by Joanna Wylde-(SOA gif heavy)!

Published October 1, 2014 by bookbesties

Reaper's Stand (Reapers MC, #4)

Reapers Stand

As Reapers Motorcycle Club president, Reese “Picnic” Hayes has given his entire life to the club. After losing his wife, he knew he’d never love another woman. And with two daughters to raise and a club to manage, that was just fine with him. These days, Reese keeps his relationships free and easy—he definitely doesn’t want to waste his time on a glorified cleaning lady like London Armstrong.

Too bad he’s completely obsessed with her.

Besides running her own business, London’s got her junkie cousin’s daughter to look after—a more reckless than average eighteen-year-old. Sure she’s attracted to the Reapers’ president, but she’s not stupid. Reese Hayes is a criminal and a thug. But when her young cousin gets caught up with a ruthless drug cartel, Reese might be the only man who can help her. Now London has to make the hardest decision of her life—how far will she go to save her family?

My Review

Okay, first I want to put out disclaimer: I Do NOT read any type of motorcycle club type books  at all simply because I am OBSESSED with a certain MC style T.V. Show featuring a very hot and dangerous Jackson Teller and I feel that NO ONE can stand up to him in print. Well slap my face and call me a Clubslut because Reapers Stand has stood up and fed more into (if that’s possible) my obsession with MC type shows and now books!

I had never read anything By Joanna Wylde and I had no idea that RS was even in a series of books until about the third chapter. This book can be read as a stand-alone totally and completely and while I want, no make that WILL, go back and read the other books before RS I was still thoroughly hooked on this one.

Reese ‘Picnic’ Hayes is the president of the Reapers MC club and has been content with bedding wiling women left and right since the love of his life and mother of his two grown daughters died from cancer. He just had a birthday and is enjoying a rather gracious birthday gift from his Srgt at Arms officer when the cleaning lady he has been eye humping since he met her a few months back walks in asking for a favor. He sees this as the perfect opportunity ‘work her’ out of his system.

London (love the name) is an independent women, as in ‘I got a job and I got money so I don’t need a man to take care of me’ independent. What she needs is to find her bratty ass second cousin(who is more like her kid) and drag her way from the wild party the MC is having before she gets pregnant! She sees Reese enjoying his birthday gift and is immediately intimidated by him. In exchange for her favor of helping finding her cousin she agrees to be at Reese services, cleaning services that is and when the attraction between them gets boiling hot and neither can take it anymore it explodes like Hiroshima!

But someone begins to pull London’s strings and now she has to decide, loose someone she loves or loose someone she loves! Tough choice.

This book kept me up reading well into the night, and not just because the sex scenes were amazing, no it was the way J Wylde wrote these characters so thoroughly and the humor had me in stiches. It wasn’t the in your face funny but more the subtly sarcastic kind. I just could not get enough and when it was over I was very much

I have put the other Reaper books on my TBR list and maybe moved them up a few notches too, because while this book can be read as a stand-alone, there are characters that intertwine in this story and had me wondering what happened with them.

Well Done Joanna for furthering my obsession!

5 out of 5 stars!
