Ruined By Jus Accadro

Published December 26, 2013 by bookbesties

Ruined (The Eternal Balance, #1)

I have read only one book by Jus Accrado and that was Darker Days and I loved it. Ruined is NOTHING like Darker Days. First I believe its considered New Adult and maybe Pararomance and it’s amazing! I loved it from start to finish, who wouldn’t? A man who was born with a daemon and has to basically share his body? I loved that we have basically a Cain and Able story going on because it centers around two twin brothers (one Bad one good) and their hatred/ love for one another. Throw in some violence and a snarky yet lovable Women and you get the making of an awesome series.
The book is in dual POV’s from Jax to Samantha, the girl who has known both brothers since they were both young. One is her best friend and one she has loved since she was fourteen (guess which one). Jax is the epitome of town bad boy, if something bad happened it was usually him, or so the town thinks.

“The sound of your voice makes me sick. I want to physically rip you to shreds each time you open your gooddamned trap. You’ve always been careless, but are you suicidal too?”

When they were kids they were best friends and as they got older something shifted and they fell in love, but when Jax left it all shifted.

Samantha is in hiding from something that happened while at college and is still battling her own daemons and when Jax comes back to town and it seems as though whatever made her run from college is following her.
The chemistry between Jax and Samantha was one part Snarky, one part shared history and ALL hot. When it was both of them they burned it up.

I did know going into it that it was part of a series, so I should have been prepared for the ending, but nooo, I wasn’t. I wasn’t prepared for it to end; I actually put down my Kindle for a whole day in order to live in this world a little bit longer. Paranormal romance has to be my number one favorite read because of all the twist it can take and this one did not disappoint with those. Jus has another hit on her hands and I cannot wait until the second book comes out. I will say it’s not a cliffhanger but you still want to have the second book like, NOW.

Published October 24, 2013 by bookbesties

I’m so pleased to be able to bring you the cover for this book, the Third in the Love Inc. books and what I think will be my favorite, because I love Merchant!  I have been a fan of Ella James ever since the first Love Inc. book Selling Scarlett and I can’t wait for this one to come out! I’m all

So here it is!

Unmaking Marchant by Ella James_ebooksmUnmaking Marchant by Ella James wrap

Marchant Radcliffe, owner of the exclusive Love Inc. brothel outside Vegas, is no stranger to darkness. He lost his sister in childhood and his parents in college. Since his best friend helped him finance the Love Inc. ranch almost ten years ago, Marchant has drowned himself in business—and he’s thrived, despite the heavy secret that has plagued him since his parents’ deaths.

Then, after ten years of good fortune, Marchant’s skeletons start to peek out of the closet, tossing him down a trail of ruin that begins with arson and could end with murder. Because he’s kept his struggles private, he has no one to pull him back from the brink.

 Suri Dalton.

After a breakup with her longtime fiancé, Suri, the daughter of one of Silicon Valley’s tech tycoons, has nowhere to go except her BFF’s new penthouse in Las Vegas. The last thing Suri is looking for is a man, but after drowning her woes in wine on the flight over, she stumbles into a torrid make out session with a beautiful stranger—who just so happens to be Marchant Radcliffe, a playboy and a literal pimp.

Despite an immediate attraction, Suri writes Marchant off as exactly the sort of guy she should avoid. Until Love Inc. goes up in flames, Marchant winds up at the bottom of a swimming pool, and Suri is the only one around to pull him out. What happens when what you see isn’t what you get? What do you do when destiny is too alluring to resist and too dangerous to survive?

Published October 16, 2013 by bookbesties

If you thought the cover for Lauren B’s last book The Trophy Husband was hot, wait until you get a load of The Thrill of It’s cover. I love the actual color of the book, not to mention the very nice eye candy. I i may or may not have reacted like this:

Needless to say I love the cover! Check it out for yourself.

The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely for Oct 16 cover revealPageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]

A new adult story of Love. Sex. Addiction. Blackmail. And Power…

Some say love can be an addiction. Others say it’s the thing that
makes life worth living. Let me tell you everything I know about
love…Love isn’t patient, love isn’t kind. Love is a game, a chase. A
thrill. Love is wild and war-like, and every man and woman must fight
for themselves. At least that’s how it was for me. A high-priced
virgin call girl by the time I started college, I was addicted to love
and to sex. Even though I’ve never had either. I controlled love,
played it, and held the world in the palm of my hands. Then I fell
down from those highs, and I’m being blackmailed for all my mistakes,
forced to keep secrets from everyone, except the only guy I don’t
regret.

Trey…

With all the other women, I knew what they were. They were temporary.
They were pills, they were bottles, they took away all the pain, and
numbed the awful memories that wore down my ragged, wasted heart.
Until I met Harley. She’s the only girl I ever missed when she walked
away. But now she’s back in my life, every day, and there are no
guarantees for us, especially since I don’t know how to tell her my
secrets. What happened to my family. All I know is she’s the closest
I’ve ever come to something real, and I want to feel every second of
it.

How can you love with no regrets when regret is all you know?

It looks and sound amazing! You can pre-order if from AMAZON for just $2.99! (original $3.99)

Rivulet by Jamie Magee Blog Tour

Published October 8, 2013 by bookbesties

Rivulet

This was my first time reading anything by Jamie Magee and the plot made me very excited to read it. A girl who has an ice cold touch and freezes things?! Pssh, where do I sign up?!

First off the book was a nicely put together book with some good detail.  It had a great idea for the story but was quite a bit confusing to follow; even after I figured out what effect was being reached for. I did have to go back a quite a few times and re-read passages so that I understood what was happening. A few times I was kinda like

I would have appreciated a bit more detail in describing the individual characters of the story, their appearance and their clothing. I didn’t even realized until almost the end that the main character was blond and still not sure of the coloring for her male lead, is he brunette? Usually the title of the book kinda ties in with the story, and I’m not sure if this is because it’s the first book in a new series , but I was a bit confused by the title; the connection in the story seemed forced, it didn’t make a lot of sense to me on how it worked together.  I did love the characters names, Indie, Cadence, Gavin, Sebastian, Guardian, they are common but unanticipated names; and not forced like Basil or Wrath would be.  I also enjoyed how independent Indie is, not a weepy, whiny person that requires a boyfriend, that some YA books tend to have. Indie stands up for herself and what she believes in and that in and of itself would be a great message to send to any young reader. The end of the book I hope I got correct because it really just confused me more, but again maybe its cause it was the first in the series.

I like simple reads, but of the plot is intricately woven and does not leave me confused then I’m all for it! Maybe it’s just me but  sadly this one left me more confused then anything. I loved the concept so  I will try the second book to see if it makes more sense to me.

Looks and sounds amazing right!? The colors alone in the background are so eye catching! And now…. we also have an excerpt from this awesome book!

Excerpt

“So not your biggest fan at the moment,” I said, closing the office door behind me. The runofffrom my jeans had soaked my sneakers pretty good. With each step, I gave a slight squishing noise accompanied by an annoying squeak against the old tile floor.

From across the room, Mom stared. “What happened to you?”

“It attacked me.” Tossing my bag on the couch, I sank into her chair and made sure to grind my butt into the cushion. Got it nice and wet. I was all about sharing the love—and right now, the love was soggy.

She laughed, waving a folder in my direction. “Surely you’re overreacting. It was one little zombie. They don’t attack people.”

“I’m serious, Ma. It tried to drown me. And the client assaulted me with ugly footwear. As far as punishments go, I’d say we’re probably square. I’ve learned my lesson.”

“You’re serious?” Amused expression now replaced by concern, she crossed the room and leaned over her desk to get a better look at me.

“As a coronary.” Once I was sure the chair had sponged up all it could, I stood and huffed past her. Pulling at my favorite T-shirt—the word Fate inside a blood red heart, is a four letter word on the back—I said, “Child welfare would not be happy to hear you tried to feed your only child to a walking corpse…”

“But why would it attack? Did you provoke it?” Folding her arms, she frowned. “Insult it, perhaps?”

I winked at her. “Provoke it? Sure. I went and wiggled my ass in front of it yelling lunch just to see what’d happen.” I’d called it Stinky, but that didn’t count as an insult. Something couldn’t be considered an insult if it was true, right?

Right eyebrow twitching, she fought against a smile. “But you’re okay, right? No bites, broken bones, head injuries, possessions…?”

I smiled and did a little twirl. “All in one piece and still me.”

Mom had a checklist she went through at the end of each job. I was known for taking almost as much damage as I inflicted.

“Oh, and you’re probably going to get a call from the client. I sorta smashed her fence in the process.”

Mom groaned. “I told you to be more careful.”

“It’s not like I tried to break anything.”

“Something tells me you didn’t try hard enough not to break anything, either.”

“In my defense, it wasn’t a simple trap and slap…”

“We can’t afford this.” She reached down and pulled a white envelope out from under a stack of papers. “This is the bill for that Mercedes you smashed.”

“Oh! So not my fault. How was I supposed to know that Spring Heel was gonna land on the car? If it makes you feel any better, I think he was aiming for my head…”

“If you keep this up, we won’t even be able to afford the rent.”

She was right, of course, and it made me feel horrible. “I’m sorry. I guess I’m a wrecking ball wrapped in blue jeans. Take my cut of this job and put it toward the repairs. Keep my paycheck for the next month, too.” A good start, but it didn’t feel like enough. Sure, it would cover the damages—I hoped—but I felt guilty about upsetting her. The bills that were piling up kept her awake at night. This was only going to make things worse. We got a fair amount of business, but the overhead in our line of work was sky high.

As much as I hated the idea, I knew what would cheer her up. “I’ll even throw in pet possessions for the next month.”

OMG I’m so excited!!!!

Act Like You Love Me by Cindi Madsen Cover Reveal!

Published May 10, 2013 by bookbesties

Here at bookbesties, we LOVE cover reveals! It’s like unwrapping a long-awaited candy bar after a long day!  We get all

image

So here it is, the cover for Cindi Madsen’s book Act Like You Love ME! Due out June 10th!

Act Like You Love Me cover

All’s fair in acting and amore…

Brynn McAdams isn’t the awkward drama geek she was in high school—she’s grown up and confident, or at least she likes to think so. But when her old crush, the impossibly handsome and impossibly unattainable Sawyer Raines, comes back to town to direct her community play, Brynn finds herself determined to be someone other than the girl he doesn’t even recognize. Good thing she’s an excellent actress.

After his bad breakup in NYC, the last thing Sawyer wants is to get involved with another actress. But the glamorous and beautiful Brynn draws him in, even though as her director, he knows she’s off-limits. There’s just something about the woman that feels…familiar. Like home.

As Brynn’s lies start to snowball, she struggles to stop acting and come clean. But what if Sawyer is already falling for the fake Brynn, not the Brynn she truly is?

ACT LIKE YOU LOVE ME excerpt:

“Cut, cut cut!” Sawyer stood. “Was that supposed to be more passionate? Because it sucked.”

“This is supposed to be the eighteen hundreds,” Brynn said. “It can’t be too passionate or it would seem inappropriate for the time.”

The next instant Sawyer was charging up the steps to the stage. “I’m not saying it’s got to be a kiss with tongue, I’m saying you’ve got to look at each other like you’re in love so the audience will want it to work out. Our modern audience.” Sawyer shook his head. “Take it again, from before the proposal.”

It was impossible to concentrate with Sawyer standing right there, so close she could hear every shift of his body and feel his gaze on her like a weight. All her lines were swimming together.

Leo knelt, told her she was an angel. She said her line, trying to peer into his soul like she wanted to be with him, and then Leo kissed her. And it was sloppier than usual.

She did her best to not jerk back, though it was her first instinct.

“Okay, that was just…” Sawyer moved in front of her. He looked at the playbook, then lowered it by his side and stared into her eyes. The air thickened around them and she could feel every thump of her heart. “What a perfect angel you are, Cecily.” He said it so tenderly, his smile close-lipped but full of joy.

“You dear romantic boy,” she said, all out of instinct because thoughts were getting fuzzy.

He leaned in and kissed her, a soft kiss with his lips barely parted. The pressure of his lips increased for a delicious moment, and then they were gone. A quick, simple kiss, but when his mouth left hers, she felt its absence so strongly that she couldn’t think about anything else for a couple seconds. Her breath was stuck somewhere in her lungs and her lips still tingled, living the sensation over and over again. Heat wound through her body, her hands itched to reach out and touch him. And then she remembered she was supposed to. She ran her fingers through his hair and felt the whisper of his breath on her wrist as he exhaled.

“Wow, that was good,” Wendy said from the front, breaking Brynn from her trance.

Brynn stepped back and swallowed, but her throat wasn’t working right. Sawyer’s eyes never left hers, and one corner of his mouth curved up in a smug, self-satisfied way.

“It was all right, I suppose,” Brynn said, working to keep her voice steady. She crossed her arms and shrugged. “For a first-timer, anyway.”

That only made Sawyer’s smile grow wider.

Brynn couldn’t help but watch Sawyer as he jumped off the stage. Funny how she’d dreamed of kissing him all the time in high school, but her fantasy wasn’t even close to the real thing. Her heart felt like it’d just been wrung out and shoved back in her

And her scene with Leo was better. She was sure it had nothing to do with the fact that she closed her eyes and pretended it was Sawyer kissing her again.

Nope. Nothing at all.
