Release Date: February 4
From USA Today & Wall Street Journal Bestselling author Meagan Brandy comes a new standalone, fake relationship romance with a twist!
That’s what we are.
That’s what we agreed to be.
I thought it would be harder, convincing everyone our school’s star receiver was mine and mine alone, but we played our parts well.
So well, the lines between us began to blur until they disappeared completely.
The thing about pretending, though, someone’s always better at it, and by the time I realized my mistake, there was no going back.
I fell for our lie.
And then everything fell apart.
It turned out, he and I were never playing the same game.
He didn’t have to break me to win.
But he did it anyway.

This was a new author to me so I was very interested as I love a enemies to lovers trope. I was thinking at first YA ok let’s see how this goes! At first glance I was on the fence with how to feel about Nico. My first impression is broody and a bit of a jerk. Right from the jump the dynamic between Nico and Demi was interesting and you can feel the tension. Demi has a crush on a fellow guy but he doesn’t see her. Nico decides to help her get seen. They are both neighbors and do not like each other. At least so it seems. The silly thing is when you start seeing someone in a different light and now feelings start to change. Nico is a bit rough at first glance but he starts to win you over once you start peeling back the layers. Demi has her own hang ups in life but Nico is there to help. Demi is sweet but strong and they both at first seem like opposites but really compliment each other. I enjoyed this read and would like to check out some of her other books.
