A disinherited duke and a former lady are courting much more than business in the first novel in Megan Frampton’s newest titillating series, Hazards of Dukes.
Everything he had ever known was a lie…
Sebastian, Duke of Hasford, has a title, wealth, privilege, and plenty of rakish charm. Until he discovers the only thing that truly belongs to him is his charm. An accident of birth has turned him into plain Mr. de Silva. Now, Sebastian is flummoxed as to what to do with his life—until he stumbles into a gambling den owned by Miss Ivy, a most fascinating young lady, who hires him on the spot. Working with a boss has never seemed so enticing.
Everything tells her he’s a risk she has to take…
Two years ago, Ivy gambled everything that was precious to her—and won. Now the owner of London’s most intriguing gambling house, Ivy is competent, assured, and measured. Until she meets Mr. de Silva, who stirs feelings she didn’t realize she had. Can she keep her composure around her newest employee?
They vow to keep their partnership strictly business, but just one kiss makes them realize that with each passing day—and night—there’s nothing as tempting as what is forbidden…
This book is so much fun! It has literally everything I look for in a good book; a strong, smart, independent leading lady matched by a handsome, determined, and slightly lost in life leading gentleman. As well as gambling, life altering events, and last but not least a steamy romance. This couple had me laughing and crying along within minutes of their first meeting. Their individual stories created a unique dynamic to their romance that has made this book unforgettable.
Miss Ivy Holton, is determined to give her sister Octavia the future that she didn’t have. After her father carelessly gambled away her future forcing her to do the same to win it back, failure is not an option. Never again will she allow a man to jeopardize the things she hold dear. So when a very handsome gentleman customer starts vocalizing his observations on how she runs her club, in the middle of her gaming floor she quickly has him evicted and doesn’t expect to see his face again. Little did she know that he would not only return, but he would come back with creative ideas on how to bring in more business, and that she would end up hiring him. Will she be able to maintain an employer/ employee relationship or will she give in to desire and gamble with her heart?
Sebastian de Silva, Duke of Hasford, has his whole world turned upside down when not only his title but his entire way of life is suddenly taken away from him. But rather than wallow in the loss or take the offered support of his family and friends he is determined to make his own future and to learn how to be independent. A chance meeting with an intriguing gaming club owner presents the opportunity he needs to do just that. Not only does she become his employer and his landlord, she becomes a valued friend. Will they take their relationship past working and friendship risking it all or will they play it safe?
This book drew me in from the first page right to the last and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!
