I had been seeing this cover art around for a while and read a brief description of it and thought it sounded promising so when the chance came to do a blog tour of it, I jumped at the chance. A man and a women being ‘just friends’.
I had very mixed feeling about this book because for one it was longer than I was used to and while it had a lot of detail that I would normally like and some mystery as to the action of the MC’s, it still left me wanting more. I did not know that going into this there would be another book in series. I was almost done with it and realized that a big part was not resolved and then I knew. I did love the chemistry between the two MC’s, and the build up lading into the two’s love. Some people have an issue with the long-awaited love, but I FLOVE it and I loved this one and Hunter was in a word, sizzling! I mean he was a MMA fighter but flawed and Lorrie is swearing off love. Now with that being said, let’s get to the other stuff. The things that bothered me the most about the book was the repetitiveness of how she would absolutely not date hunter under no circumstances what so ever! OK, I get that Lorrie didn’t want a relationship, I mean she pretty much stated it in EVERY sentence and if I had been Hunter I would have duced out a long time ago with the way she was emphasizing how much she wasn’t going to sleep with him.
I get that she was flawed and that she was not looking for love, he himself had given up on the thought and was just friends until they weren’t. I did like how they didn’t just seem to fall in love at the snap of a hat and it took a while, like a W H I L E and that was realistic. The other things that got to me where the similarities to another book that I had read and fell in love with; and maybe if I hadn’t read that one first, then I would have loved this one as well. I liked it, it was just I had heard the story before.
3 out of 5 stars
