I troll other blogs and comments sometime and this is how I found out about the Coincident of Callie and Kayden. I had a lot of different feeling while reading this book. I knew right away what happened to Callie and who did it and so it was no shock to me about her progress and her reactions, it was predictable.
But what was shocking was Kayden. I was not expecting his story to progress how it did. I knew the story of that of a female who was abused, but a guy? No that threw me for a loop. He is an abused man just looking to get away from his father, but he has a secret. His secret is what shocked me and kept me reading more. I was so focused on his secret that I almost missed Callie’s. It’s not outright said upfront, but it is implied until almost the end. I liked the way Jessica wrote almost all the small details and as a visual person I loved it.
“I unwrapped the gum from its wrapper and popped it into my mouth”
I also loved the realistic banter between all the characters and that also kept me reading more. This book had me feeling so many different emotions and I can’t express them all in this blog. I wish I would have read this book when it very first came out so that I could gush about it with everyone else who read it! The ending is what is going to get me reading the second book but I’m not sure if I’m ready for sooooo much emotion! I hated how this book ended just because it seemed like it stopped in the middle of a chapter which I hate, I knew there was a second book before reading it, but it didn’t think it would leave me hanging like it did. I was like
For this reason and this reason only I gave this
