Seven Sins. Six Innocent people. Five Days. Piece of cake….
When gorgeous new client, Lukas Scott, saunters into the office requesting their help to find a stolen box, it sounds like a simple case—until the truth comes out. The box is full of Sin.
Let me start by saying I had never read a book by Jus Accardo before, granted she was in my large and ever-growing TBR pile, but I had never gotten around to one of her books. Well after reading Darker Days, let me tell you her books just got moved up the list! Had I known I was in for such an awesome ride with her books I would have long since read them. I want everyone to be able to read this book so that I can talk about it with them!
From the time I had done the cover reveal and read the teasers I was hooked. You have a teenage girl who fights demons, with her MOM and they run a detective-by-day-slash-demon-hunting-by-night business. Score! Jus did an awesome job at drawing me in to ALL the characters introduced in the book and I can tell this will be one of the series to look out for. You are going to want to know what happens next at each page turn, and no matter how much I told myself ‘after this chapter I will…’I couldn’t put it down until I was done.
Imagine if Veronica Mars and Buffy the Vampire slayer had a kid. That kid would be Jessie Darker. With just enough snark to be funny and relatable she also can kick ass and take names with the rest of them and far from a normal teenage girl.
“Last week, I evicted a nest of Hell Hounds in the park; got a twelfth century ghost out of the record room in town hall, and two days ago I went shopping with a witch and a necromancer. What about that screams normal to you?”
Everyone around her want to protect her, but all she wants to do is prove herself and prove herself she does. This book was not short on action, something was always happening, there was never a dull moment but there was kissing, because there is ALWAYS time for that. But it still was never lacking and normally I can guess what will happen in the book before it’s told. Like the big secret reveal. The Scooby Gang ain’t got nuthin’ on me!
But this book…I got nothing. It kept me guessing and on my toes EVERY.SECOND. The intricate plot and story line was written it left me thinking about what could happen in the books to come long after I finished. This is how you start a series, with a bang and Jus certainly did that.
Not everyone can do paranormal YA and I will admit I am somewhat of a YA snob, I like who I like and that’s it. Jus has made my list. Excellent read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
*I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.*
