It has taken me almost a week to come to grips with this wonderfully heartbreaking story and I still don’t have my thoughts together to write an adequate enough review to be able to do this story justice.

This is the second book I have read by Aly Martinez and I have to say that if I wasn’t a fan from the last book(which, duh I WAS) then I am a worshiper now! Aly has a way of taking two broken people and having them find each other. And I say that there are two broken people because normally in the books I have read in the past, yes there are two broken people, but one always seems more broken than the other, but not in this case.

The Darkest Sunrise has two incredibly sad and real situations that no one likes to talk about but, hey, it happens and the emotions and stigmatism that comes along with it. Charlotte Mills lost her son 10 years ago and since then has been living a life of grief, guilt and self punishment. Porter Reese(kick ass name BTW) lost his wife three years ago and was left with raising two children, one of whom is deathly and chronically ill. Porter lives a life of hatred, guilt and is quite overwhelmed at times. Their paths cross on a faithful meeting and Porter sees the darkness in Charlotte that she desperately tries to hide because that same darkness, is in him too. Together they try and live in the light.

This book…this book was one of the most powerfully written, moving books that I have read this year. It gripped me in such a way that I didn’t think a book could! I cried, oh man I cried, so hard, but I also laughed more than I thought I would and i was a good balance. I can’t say more without just telling you the entire story and somehow I don’t think Aly would appreciate that! 6 Stars!

This is Kylie Scott’s first time venturing into YA and I have to say, I loved it! First, let’s define 2017 YA vs. 1997 YA. Back then there was a lot that wasn’t said in YA books and while I appreciated it, I would always say..I never did that as a teen. 2017 YA novels are increasingly telling the truth about what teens (15+) are actually doing( i.e sex, experimenting) and K. Scott captured that perfectly!  

Edie is a typical teenager who is doing something typical(getting junk food for an all night movie marathon with her bestie) when her life is change irrevocably. I’m talking life or death changed and I have never been through anything like that but the words conveyed the emotions of the horrific experience Edie had to face entirely. But that wasn’t what made the story great for me; it was the after that kept me reading. How Edie dealt with life, her image, and hero worship after the incident.  It was likened to the stages of grief and that is just how Edie saw it; because she was in mourning of her old life and how she was blissfully unaware of the dangers around her, once she was made aware, she couldn’t unsee those things and thus began her fall.

Enter John, the unlikely hero from that fateful night and just the right person to call Edie on her crap and wake her up from her self- destructive behavior. John was the wrong side of the tracks kid but something changed for him that night too and he is determined to not let it change Edie too.

This book/story was such an amazing story and I’m so glad I got to go on this real and emotionally charged journey with these two!  IT was told in such a way that I found myself saying, YES! This is what I would have done as a teen! Deff one of those books you just HAVE to own!

I knew from the last story that Logan was going to frustrate me. First let me say that if you think you can predict how this story will go I am here to tell you you have no idea! It was a slow start for me, Logan is the sexy detective who Kayla can’t stop thinking about but Logan feels like his life is too messy for a relationship. And as much as he can’t stop thinking about Kayla he knows right now is not the time. But the only problem is Logan can’t stand her to be with anyone else! Kayla is determined to make Logan see that she can fit in his life. She knows his secret and she will not take no for an answer! Just when you think that everything is coming together…… That’s when things get complicated! Again I did not see this book to leave off this way! I am on pins and needles for the next book! I can’t wait!

This book was an entertaining read. The female lead character was a joy to get to know. I would go as far as describing her personality as cute. Her journey to “more” is what makes this book such a fun read. This book is not overly sexual and I feel like that gave the author the opportunity to really delve into the heroine’s growth from a young naive lady into womanhood. I truly love the fact that in this book we get real insight of the emotions and thoughts of a young lady in a period of time where society and her family make all of the decisions in her life.

This is my first time reading anything from this author but the cover intrigued me! Nicholas Chandler and Olivia Kane were once lovers until a tragedy causes a rift between families. Olivia and Nicholas secretly agree on one night every year where they meet and don’t talk after till the next year. I was sucked in from the beginning the banter between these two is hot, fiery and the sparks show from chapter one! I was left rooting for them and I didn’t want to put the book down! I had so many questions: Why did their families hate each other? Can Olivia forgive Nicholas? Will they rise from the problems of their past? This book had the right amount of chapters and the chemistry between these two was sweltering! My only negative to this story is I would have loved an epilogue or a more finalized ending but it was still a high five book for me! Can’t wait to read more from this Author!

I’m ridiculously attracted to my best friend.

Today is a bad day. The worst actually. After dealing with the constant manhandling that comes with being a cocktail waitress at a dive bar and surviving a date from hell, I see an eviction notice slapped on the door of my sketchy basement apartment. Great.

We’ve had about a million sleepovers since we met in the kindergarten Deaf program, but this time it’s different because I can’t stop thinking about his hard body covering mine, every single night.

I know Devon would do anything for me, but I’m afraid what I want to happen will ruin our friendship forever. And the more time we spend together in close quarters, the harder it’ll be to resist the spark of attraction I’ve always felt. But maybe it’s possible to have the best of both worlds: keep the one relationship I can’t live without and indulge in an attraction I can’t deny.

I guess the only thing we can do is try…

I was really excited for this book, I mean come on, how many H and h’s in a romance are both deaf? Originality on this was great and I couldn’t wait to dive in. However I kept thinking that I missed a vital part of the story. There were back dated snippets to tell of Jasmine and Devon’s friendship, but I didn’t really get the gravity of their friendship. I felt totally disconnected from both the characters in the story and for me, I couldn’t quite follow the story line. While I enjoyed the ‘breath of fresh air feel it’ gave me, it didn’t live up to what I had hope it would.

I had mixed feelings about the main character, not the book itself. I just want to clarify that before I continue.

I love everything Katy writes and this story was no exception. BUT, I did get irritated quite a bit while reading this particular story because, well, Bryn was not my cup of tea. While I can’t really go into detail about WHY she wasn’t without spoiling anything, I’ll just say that home girl went back and forth so much with her thoughts i felt like I was the ball in a tennis match. Really, it just boils down to my personal preference on female leads. She made some choices that were just…

She had some redeeming qualities about her throughout the story, and she was very well fleshed out and maybe it was because I KNEW someone like her,  but overall….she was frustrating.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about my fav; Double A A-A-R-I-C Christos. The man is lava. Imagine If Malcolm Saint, Maverick and Makenna Jones had a little brother..It would be Aaric Christos. He’s smooth ruthless and so, so sexy. I mean, I could just stare at the cover all day…

and talk about smooth….

“Fourteen years starving to kiss you…”

“…That’s not the kind of wet I wanted to get you..”

I mean….

I don’t think I have loved someone like him since Saint, Maverick and Makenna!

Him, his loyalty, protectiveness and his swag, it all floored me!

Overall, the ending is a HEA, of sorts(haha) and i loved that it was of’ sorts’. Most of Katy’s books I read around three times and even despite my personal dislike of Bryn, I will probably read this book again because, Aaric!

Hot off the press this was a hit for me. This was my first time reading a book from these authors and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Rebecca is trying to prove to her boss that she can take the anchor spot and leave her field reporting days! Cade is an ex NFL star whose family is well known. He is arrogant, sexy, and frustrating all in one package. Her thoughts about him are nothing but platonic! Once the sparks fly between these two they have a sexy steamy night that burns up the pages! You know how you lay in bed a read and when a good part comes along you have to sit up, like that will give you more focus? Well there are some really good sit up scenes!  Rebecca needs to stay focused and Cade is left wanting more.. Will Rebecca get what she wants? Will Cade win Rebecca heart?! It was funny and sexy and just the right length! Thumbs up!
