Last Hit (Hitman, #1)

Excerpt

She has returned. I place my eye against the scope. Her bed is cleared of her bag and her back is resting against the headboard.

Her lithe body is clothed in a thin t-shirt. I can see the faint, dark outline of nipple beneath the cloth. My eyes dip lower. The shadow of her pubic hair is also visible. I can feel my heart rate pick up as I map her body with my eyes.

I feel restless and think perhaps I should review the information I have compiled for the mark or perhaps look at the routing pattern left by the caller from Neuchâtel. I do neither. As I begin to draw back from the scope, her motions arrest me. Her small hand, with the pink-tipped nails, is moving over her belly. One finger traces the tiny lace adorning the top band of her panties. My breath is suspended. Time is suspended.

I have never seen this before. She has never touched herself. Never brought a man home with her. I’d have shot him, maybe. No, I would’ve caused some disturbance. Something. I thought her maybe an innocent and fantasized about awakening her. But now her small fingers are delving beneath the cotton. I can see the bumps of her knuckles as they press against the pale, pink fabric. She is moving her fingers in circles.

I imagine my own fingers, much larger, dark and rough, pressing down upon hers. My fingers flex involuntarily at the thought of her pussy beneath my touch. I’d stroke her lightly and in circles as that is what she appears to like. I’d move my fingers lower, beyond her clit to her hot cunt. It would be wet, dripping wet. My fingers would be soaked, and I would pause so that I could lick her sweet honey off each digit.

My cock is so hard I fear that it will break against the denim of my jeans. I draw a hand over my chest and pinch my own nipple hard, imagining it is her tiny white teeth tugging on it. I’ve broken out in a light sweat.

Her legs tense, and her hand motions become more frantic. I can see her chest rise and fall rapidly. Her whole body is strained, but when her release comes it is truncated. The look on her face is one of frustration rather than satisfaction. She wets her plump lips and closes her eyes. She begins again, but again she is unfulfilled.

My emotions war against each other. I am unhappy that she cannot find her own fulfillment, but there is also fierce possessiveness that arises from an idea I’ve tried to suppress. In my mind, only I can bring her to orgasm and release. I can teach her to touch herself in a way that will be pleasurable and satisfying.

I would not start with her pussy. No, the skin is the largest sex organ. I would stroke my hands over every inch, starting from her forehead. My lips and fingers would smooth away any furrows. My hands would encircle her neck and sweep down over her shoulders to her fine wrists.

I’d rub my body over hers so that she smelled of me. When she walked this city, other men would stay away, recognizing she was marked as my own. Belonging to Nikolai. Maybe I would tattoo it around her neck like a collar.

I stroke the homemade tattoo over my chest. The words inscribed there still burn, years after they were applied. I scowl at myself. She would run in fear if she saw me—the stars on my knees, the dagger through my neck, the spider web on my shoulder. The epaulets on the other. The inscription. I am tempted to throw my scope at the wall. I would never be allowed to touch her pristine skin, not with my dirty fingers or my tongue. I would defile her.

I do not hurl my weapon. An assassin’s tools are his friends; perhaps the only things he owns. But I do leave my seat. She has gone into the kitchen anyway, to eat. We have one thing in common right now. We are both dissatisfied.

Review

This book’s synopsis took me for a loop, it hardly gave anything away but it still drew me in and when I started the first few chapters in Daisy’s view I was a little skeptical and intrigued because Daisy had been living with her father who was agoraphobic and only allowed her out for groceries and what not an hour per week and she decided enough was enough and left. In doing so she became this bright-eyed bushy tail young innocent and sheltered a-whole-new-world person after she left home.  Then incomes Nikolai a used to be hit man for the Russian Bratva which I had never heard of in my life. Thanks google.  And I’m a sucker for all the Russian words thrown in like Da.

Nikolai has no love, no one to love and has never known affection of the need to have someone, his life was simple, with his for hire status he took jobs posted money and lived his life, until he spied Daisy through his scope in the building across the street from him. At first it was a little creepy because he was kinda the stalker next door

Then he became kind of endearing because he was like a baby calf trying to find his footing in the world. He has no idea how to date, how to interact with a women or how to be soft and gentle, especially to someone like Daisy who is all

They court and it’s like watching two sea turtles trying to find land because both of them are just awkward and odd, but they fit.

And the sexual chemistry is like whoa!

Thennnnn the poo hits the fan as the wrong person finds out about his ‘Little flower’ and man, apparently you don’t ever want to piss off someone who used to be a hit man for the Bratva, this was the first book in a series and the first book by that I have read by two authors and yup I’m a fan!  Though Daisy kept doing things to kinda piss me off and at times I thought she was little too trusting, because let’s face it the normal reaction for someone who found out that they were being watched would have been

But nope, she trusted Nick, and in this case that was fine and she discovers so much more about herself as well as Nick as the story unfolded. This was a great start and I’m very excited about the next book in the series featuring the two supporting characters.

I will definitely be reading the rest in this series.

5 out of 5 stars!

Sociopath: Legacy by Lime Craven Cover Reveal

Sociopath: Legacy (Sociopath #2)
by Lime Craven
Genre: Dark Romance
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23510993-sociopath
Synopsis
Reach for the scars…

Remember me? Aeron Lore: happy and humble. A people person. All around nice guy.

Even I can’t say that with a straight face.

But seriously, things are going great. Leo’s behaving herself; I’m enjoying making sure she behaves. We’re a great team. SilentWitn3ss, our live-streaming news project, has launched to my favorite things ever: controversy and profit.

So when the FBI comes to me and wants to use SilentWitn3ss footage to trace a serial killer named Blood Honey, I’m only too happy to be superior—I mean, to help. And if Leo thinks the brutal Blood Honey and I have a few things in common, I guess that’s to be expected, given my rather unique preferences in the bedroom. My…condition.

But I’m not like him. I can’t stand that she would even think it.

If his actions threaten my relationship with Leo, I’ll hunt that fucker down myself.

If he gets too close for comfort, I will make him bleed—and trust me, he’s closer than I ever anticipated.

There’s a food chain, grasshoppers. The buck doesn’t stop with him. It stops with me. Blood Honey is a nasty son of a bitch, but I can be a lot worse. Question is…do I want to be?

Meet the Author

I like dysfunction. Broken people who can’t fix each other, but fit together because they’re missing the same pieces. One of my favourite songs declares, “take the sinner down to feed desire,” and that’s my MO. I write dirty psychological thrillers with strong elements of dark romance.
I love antiheroes. Female characters who don’t just accept their faults, but downright exploit them. No nice boys. No shame. Mindfuckery for all.

Synopsis

The name’s Aeron Lore. And you are…? Such a pleasure to meet you, sweetheart. Is that a southern accent? Gorgeous.
You fucking bitch.
Why so surprised? I control a billion dollar fortune. I control the news. Give me five minutes and I’ll control you, too. If you could read my mind, you’d probably call me perverted. Unnatural. Manipulative. But I’ve learned to blend in, to be funny and charming. A predator in a designer suit.
I have no conscience. No shame in taking the things I want. And what I wanted was for Leontine Reeves to sell me her boutique tech firm so I could exploit the fuck out of it. Maybe exploit the fuck out of her, too, because desire haunts me in shades of scarlet, and I desire Leo most of all.
I never meant for this to be a love story. I fought it kicking and screaming, the same way Leo fought me. Now we’re bleeding into each other, making a mess. A chaos. There’s no control here. And what do monsters like me do when control leaves the building?
We attack.

Pressure Rising Book Blitz!

Published January 26, 2015 by bookbesties

Book: Pressure Rising (Rhinestone Cowgirls #2)

Author: Rhonda Lee Carver

Genre: Contemporary Romance/Cowboy

Synopsis

Carrying a shotgun lands her into trouble…and under the spell of a cowboy

Pearl learned the hard way that DJ is a poison that needs to be eradicated from her neighboring land. Although she hates him with a passion, killing him isn’t part of her plan. When the shotgun fires and DJ is wounded, she wishes she left the gun at home.

DJ has a pain in his butt—literally. Thanks to Pearl with her poor shooting skills and temper. He knew all along that she had it out for him, but shooting him in his backside was a little too close for comfort. When she shows up on his doorstep— after prodding from her family—apologizing and offering to ‘nurse’ him back to health, he can’t help but imagine all of the opportunities at his fingertips. His sweetest revenge would be to prove that she has feelings for him, and with a little of his country-boy charm, she might lose the emotional barriers and stop treating him like the devil’s spawn.

One touch and Pearl is hooked. Changing the bandage on DJ’s nice, tight buns starts a fervor within her that leads her down a delicious path—and straight into DJ’s strong, awaiting arms. She realizes shutting him out isn’t as easy as building another wall of protection. He’s in her blood and she’s addicted. And her cowboy is determined to unlock all of her closed doors.
Excerpt

All hell broke loose inside of her as he rolled the tip of his tongue along the inside of her mouth. His fingers threaded through her damp hair, tangling in the mass, lifting her head at a perfect angle so he could reach deeper.
He tasted good. He felt even better. The scent of his soap and the clean fragrance of rain mingled underneath her nose, making her nipples tight.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, dragging him closer, pressing her breasts against his hard chest.
His teeth nibbled at one corner of her mouth, scraping gently along the curve of her bottom lip. A vision of him nibbling her pussy lips made her scorch with heat as a strong desire to be one with him washed through her. Her core ached for fiery release.
All trepidation faded from her.
His kiss slowed and he pulled back. She whimpered in disappointment and opened her eyes. His gaze was filled with longing and she wanted him right then and there, not caring that earlier that week she could have wrung his neck.
“Darlin’, I don’t think one kiss will be enough.”
A hot shiver raced across her flesh. “No?”
“Uh-uh.” His eyes turned a shade darker and he sucked in a deep breath.
“Where are we headed here, DJ?”
“I have plans to lick every part of your delectable body. Is that a problem?”
She couldn’t have turned him down if her life depended on it. She unfastened the top button of his shirt, then another. “I like that idea.”
He smoothed his hands along her bare leg to the top of one cowgirl boot and pulled it off her foot. He gave it a toss and it landed with a thump to the floor. Then he removed the other. “You’re making me crazy, woman.”
Undoing the rest of his buttons, her mouth watered at the sight of his bare chest and flat stomach.  “God, I’ve never seen a better body.”
He chuckled and it vibrated his chest. “I don’t think I’ve ever been more flattered.” His eyes twinkled.
She tugged his shirttail from his jeans and helped him slip the material from his shoulders. He had nice, large shoulders that could carry a lot of weight. “Is there any part of you that isn’t toned?”
“Well, you haven’t seen all of me yet, sweetheart.” He smoothed the back of his knuckles along her cheek.
“I’ve seen this part.” She squeezed his ass, careful not to hurt his wounded cheek. “That’s definitely in shape. About the only thing I haven’t seen is buried deep in those jeans, and from the looks of that bulge, I don’t think I’ll be a disappointed woman.”
He sucked in a breath. “Are you sure you want this?”
“I not only want it, I’m craving it.” She moistened her lips. “It’s been a long time for me, DJ. I hope I can satisfy you.”
He blinked. “Darlin’, I’m satisfied just looking at you. Trust me, neither of us will have a problem.” He tucked a tendril of her hair behind her ear. “How long has it been?”
“Too long,” she whimpered.
“I don’t want to make you feel like this is all I want. We don’t have to—”
She covered his mouth with her finger. “Don’t, DJ. I want this. I’ve been waiting a long time to feel this way.”
“I’m privileged to break the dry spell.” He winked. “I’ll take very good care of you, sweetheart.” He nuzzled his nose against her cheek.
She scraped her nails down his back. “How fast can we get the rest of the clothes off your body?” She couldn’t wait to see his goodies.
Author Bio:

At an early, Rhonda fell in love with romance novels, knowing one day she’d write her own love story. Life took a short detour, but when the story ideas would no longer be contained, she decided to dive in and write. Her first rough draft was on a dirty napkin she found buried in her car. Eventually, she ran out of napkins. With baby on one hip and laptop on the other, she made a dream into reality—one word at a time.
Her specialty is men who love to get their hands dirty and women who are smart, strong and flawed. She loves writing about the everyday hero.
When Rhonda isn’t crafting sizzling manuscripts, you will find her busy editing novels, blogging, juggling kids and animals (too many to name), dreaming of a beach house and keeping romance alive. Oh, and drinking lots of coffee to keep up with her characters.

The oldest of three sisters, Jewels Stone takes care of everyone, especially those she loves. When she finds out the youngest Stone is duped, she plans to rope and wrangle the cowboy to teach him a lesson on how to treat a woman. Tied to a bedpost and as mad as a hornet, Spark Ryder wants to toss Jewels over his knee and spank her. But how can he convince her that he’s innocent when she’s out to settle a score against all men?

While seeking revenge, Jewels finds a passion that’ll have her hanging by a dream. The pressure is too much and loose threads holding the past begin to unravel. Her brain urges her to run while her heart wishes to stay.

Spark wants nothing but distance with Jewels, but when things start to heat up on the Rhinestone Ranch, he samples Jewels’ treasure and finds himself on the wrong end of the rope again—but it’s his soul that’s bound to a woman who will never trust.

He wants to stitch her broken heart, but will he walk before his own heart is in need of mending?

Excerpt:

SPARK’S NOSE ITCHED. But he couldn’t move his hands to scratch.

Forcing one eye to a slit, he wasn’t in his room, but still in the motel. Damn. He’d fallen asleep.
Opening both eyes, he blinked the fuzziness away and lifted his head. His arms were stretched high above his head and his wrists ached. He darted a glimpse above him.

He was tied to the headboard. Acid gurgled in his stomach. “What the hell!” He gave his hands a jerk, but the rope held them tight. “Fuck!”

Jerking a glance around the room…there she was…sitting in the chair, her legs crossed and a look of satisfaction covering her pretty features.

“What the fuck is this?” Now he understood why Ms. Stone had been throwing herself at him. “Talk to me!” he demanded.

A sticky, tingly sensation brought his gaze lower and on his legs. He squinted. Both legs were covered with some sort of pink, glossy paper.  “And what in God’s creation are those?”

She got up, stood at the end of the bed, a smirk curving her lips. “Wax strips.”
“Get them off me and let me the hell out of this bed!” he snarled
“Are you sure you want me to help you with the strips?” One thin brow curved maliciously.
“Hell yeah!”

She reached down, grabbed the corner of one strip and pulled.

“Ow!” he squealed as a fire like none other raced through his leg. Clenching his teeth, he looked at her through narrowed gaze. “What the hell was that for?’
“You did ask me to help you. So I did.”
“I’m talking about all of this—the rope, the shit on my legs.” He forced a breath through tight lips.

Smugly, she crossed her arms. “This is a lesson earned.”

He popped up a brow. “A lesson? For what?” Bringing his gaze back to his rope twined wrists, he visually examined the headboard. The cord was wrapped around his wrists, fashioned through the five-inch gap into the wooden detail, then pulled back through and tied in a knot. From what he could see, and with another tug, it wasn’t a bad knot.

“I’m sorry, but I have plans so I must hurry. I won’t spend much time with my explanation. You played my sister. Therefore, I’m showing you what it’s like to be played.”

Prologue

Susan stepped off the Greyhound bus and inhaled deeply, taking in the crisp winter air.  Almost immediately, she began to shiver in response to the sub-freezing temperature outside. She pulled down on her wool hat so it completely covered her ears, only leaving an inch or two of her newly cut and dyed hair exposed.  She slung her duffel bag over her shoulder and headed towards the street, pushing herself through the sea of people streaming in the opposite direction.
Keeping her head down in fear of being recognized, she double-checked the address she had hurriedly scribbled down on a piece of paper before leaving her house that morning.  She knew she was being paranoid and was unlikely to be recognized by anyone there, but one can never be too careful – something she knew she would need to remember now that she was all alone in the big city.
Sadly, it wasn’t her parents whom she worried would come looking for her.  They would probably be relieved to read the note that she left behind, absolving them of all responsibility for her well-being. They likely wouldn’t even realize she was gone until one of the maids found her note, which made clear that she did not want to be found.
Susan stopped in front of a small stone building, nestled between two daunting office towers.  Even in the busyness of the downtown streets, her destination looked welcoming – something for which she felt very thankful since it would be her home for some time.  The front door swung open and she quickly stepped to the side, allowing a girl who looked a couple of years younger than Susan pass.  The girl’s belly looked like it was about to burst and, with the help of two other women, she got into a waiting taxi. Susan instinctively touched her own belly and reveled in the thought that, in a number of months, she would be just like that girl.  As she watched the taxi’s taillights disappear down the street, she rubbed her belly and whispered to her unborn child, “This is it little one.  Today we start our new life together, just you and me.  If you are a girl, I’m going to name you Phoebe. And if you are a boy…well I’m not quite sure yet, thankfully I have some time to figure that out.  But most importantly, I pray that I will be enough for you…” Her voice trailed off as she opened the door and stepped into her new life.

About the Author

Canadian born and raised, Erin Everleigh, is the mom of three girls, who always keep her on her toes – twins age 7 and an older sister who is 9.  She has a self-confessed addiction to reading that her family will certainly corroborate, and you will rarely find her without her kindle at arm’s length constantly feeding this obsession.  She is the author of the soon to be released novel, Absolute Love.  A story that composed itself in her head, which she could no longer ignore.  After months of writing out chapters on her iPhone, she finally opened up her laptop and decided to take the plunge.

The Untouchables By J. J. McAvoy (Holy WOW)

Published January 14, 2015 by bookbesties

When I first got Ruthless people, I was thrown off because never had a read of a hard as balls female who was a mafia leader and held her $hit as much as Melody. It was always the ruthless men and the women who were somewhat hard, but always gave the men the control in the end. Slap my face and call me a rat when Mel was all boss bitch, literally.

It floored me and I was instantly in love and couldn’t wait for The Untouchables. Melody and Liam were such a unstoppable and powerful couple you can’t help but want to know about their lives and what they are doing at every minute of every day! JJ McAvoy did not disappoint in this second instalment with all the twist and turns with not just Mel but with the whole Callahan clan!  When we last left them in Ruthless People, they were recovering from a horrible loss and blow to the family and finding out secrets that would shock Mel to her core.

The Unstoppables picked right back up where all that action left off, with Mel and Liam’s bond stronger than ever and a new threat, not only from outside forces but from someone in their inner circle! The nerve! Does that person who is betraying them value their lives that less, because if there were ever a fictional character I would never want to cross it’d be Mel, on a good day!

There was parts in the book, like in any good mafia book where I wanted to climb in the fictional word myself and yell at the MC or the person who was low-key betraying them and yell, “Look, its this bitch right here, kill her! KILL HER!” but I just had to settle with screaming this out loud and scaring the crap out of my kid.

I’d like to call this book the calm before the storm, because while there were defiantly things that happened that were shocking and WTF moments (especially the last chapter, it was the biggest, WTF moment) this was just the start of what I can only hope to be a climatic ending so explosive I’m sure I will have to call out of work the next day to recover from.

I have only ever truly read one or two Mafia series and this by far has been one of the best, Sex, Love, Money, Power, Blood, Death and Loyalty beyond belief is just a few things that littered the pages of The Unstoppables and I can’t wait for American Savages. J.J. McAvoy is one to look out for and I can’t wait to see what comes from her in the future.

Paris Hemsworth’s Road to Wonderland

(RTW Book 2 – can be read standalone)

by Francesca Marlow

Synopsis

‘Paris Hemsworth’s Road To Wonderland’ is the second novel in a new adult series, which tells the tale of a seventeen-year-old girl’s tragedy. A tragedy that steers her down an unlikely path full of twists and turns.
Paris is a naive, feisty fashionista who floats, carefree, through her life in 1990’s Manchester, thanks to her three great loves: her father, her best friend, and her motorbike. Izzy Moffit is a shy, quiet, literature lover who has been surrounded by violence daily, seeking solace in movies and music. The two are an unlikely duo, but since the age of four, they have been inseparable, always promising to be there for each other no matter what.
That is until one day Paris receives heart-shattering news which turns her life upside-down. Suddenly, their friendship is tested in ways it never has before, and just when things are starting to look up for them, adulthood steps in and kicks them both in unimaginable ways. Paris is forced into a life full of fear, guilt and doubt, which sees her evolve from the feisty, fun young girl she once was into something she never thought she’d be. Weak.

Having hit rock bottom, Paris is left with two options: climb the ladder back up or continue to swim in the sea of despair. The first option is easier said than done when you have no hope or faith left, when the loves of your life have all moved on, and you think you’re alone in the world. In the war against addiction, Paris knows it is only a matter of time before something has to give, but she is unable to predict at what cost.

About the Author
Francesca is a self-confessed drifter, never quite fitting in anywhere until she discovered the love of reading two years ago. Books proved to be non-judgemental, loyal and thought provoking, so much so that she was inspired to create her own world. A world where she could channel her every day thoughts and emotions to deal with the daily grind which we call ‘life’.
Francesca’s biggest accomplishments to date are the two little ladies that share her heart, closely followed by the one thing she is very proud to say: “I wrote a bloody novel!” She’s a Yorkshire lass and a secret romantic at heart, with an eclectic taste in music and a great love for films – all of which continue to be a source of creativity as well as well deserved relaxation moments.
