Archangel's Shadows (Guild Hunter, #7)

When I first got Archangel’s Shadows I was really excited because I Uber-Love anything Paranormal! After about an hour though I was thoroughly lost! Like even if I had a map, compass and GPS I still wouldn’t have found my way!

I then realized that AS was book seven (7!) in the Guild Hunter series. That just made me want to stop reading and go read the 6 previous books, but alas I could not so I pushed forward. It took a whole for me to get past the para-paranormal of the story. Angels, Vampires, Hunters and more! Talk about a head rush into the crazy, but in a good way.  The story that Nalini Singh paint’s is entertaining enough to keep me interested and invested in a book that I knew no back story about characters that obviously have some serious history. The writing was captivating and the only thing I couldn’t get past was the unpronounceable names, it almost, almost takes away from the story With that being said, I loved Ash and Janvier, what a great duo they make. I don’t know what happened previous between them, but man what’s going on NOW is sexy and emotional and just, so much more than I thought it would be.

Ash is a special hunter and Janvier is a Vampire committed to the Guild AND Ash and while on a case about who is killing innocent girls in the city that is just shy of a big war blow out between another archangel this brings them getting to know each other better and letting Janvier get a glimpse of Ash’s demons that keep her at bay and for Ash to open up to new possibilities. I loved that the book was not just focused on one story (Ash and Jan) but on everyone that presumably were in the previous books too. I still found myself wrapped up in all their lives just as much so as if I had been invested from the first one. I enjoyed the story and will probably go back and read the first 6 then re-read AS as a true fan.
