Bolivar Randy Heart (aka Brady) knows exactly what he wants next in life: the perfect wife. Raised in a strict traditional family household, he seeks a woman who is sweet, conservative, and eager to settle down. With his well-known protective and dominant streak, he needs a woman to offer him balance in a world where he relishes control. Too bad the newly hired, gorgeous, rehab addict is blasting through all his preconceptions and wrecking his ideals…one nail at a time… Charlotte Grayson knows who she is and refuses to apologize. Growing up poor made her appreciate the simple things in life, and her new job at Pierce Brothers Construction is perfect to help her carve out a career in renovating houses. When an opportunity to transform a dilapidated house in a dangerous neighborhood pops up, she goes in full throttle. Unfortunately, she’s forced to work with the firm’s sexy architect who’s driving her crazy with his archaic views on women. Too bad he’s beginning to tempt her to take a chance on more than just work…one stroke at a time… Somehow, some way, they need to work together to renovate a house without killing each other…or surrendering to the white-hot chemistry knocking at the front door.

My Fair Lover (Legendary Lovers, #5)

Published August 29, 2017 by bookbesties

Nicole Jordan’s irresistible Legendary Lovers series continues in this sizzling twist on My Fair Lady, as a bewitching beauty and a rakish sea captain trade favors . . . and tempt fate.

Lady Katherine Wilde believes she has crushed any lingering romantic feelings toward Brandon Deverill, who spurned her six years ago. And now that the rough-edged rogue needs polishing to claim his inheritance, she’s willing to strike a practical bargain: Kate will mold the brash privateer into an acceptable English nobleman if Deverill will safeguard her from brigands on a voyage to recover lost family treasure. However, the soul-melting kiss that seals their agreement just may reignite blazing passion.

Brandon’s fortitude was sorely tested when he turned Kate away from his bed all those years ago. Even a rake such as he wouldn’t seduce an innocent beauty before sailing into battle. But now that he’s inherited a title and must take a suitable bride, he sets his sights on Kate. Though he fiercely desires her, true love is a notion that baffles him–until their adventure turns perilous and Brandon realizes he’d gladly trade his life to save the woman who has captured his heart.

This book is a great story of two lovers who were separated by circumstance that fate pushed back together. While the book was well written the story line was slightly predictable. I knew from the first chapter that the two main characters were going to end up madly in love with each other and that was very concerning for me. But I was pleasantly surprised when although the story was predictable it was still a very enjoyable read and I found myself cheering for the success of the characters. I love that the heroin is written to be cunning and a great strategist. I loved seeing her make plans and how they played out in her favor in ways she had no idea they would. This would be a good book for someone just getting into the genera of historical romance who may not be able to predict the outcome so easily.

Illegal Contact (The Barons)

The rules of the game don’t apply off the field in this first Barons novel.

New York Barons tight end Gavin Brawley is suspended from the team and on house arrest after a video of him brawling goes viral. Gavin already has a reputation as a jerk with a temper on and off the field—which doesn’t help him once he finds himself on the wrong side of the law. And while he’s been successful professionally, he’s never been lucky when it comes to love.

Noah Monroe is a recent college grad looking for a job—any job—to pay off his mounting student debt. Working as Gavin’s personal assistant/babysitter seems like easy money. But Noah isn’t prepared for the electrifying tension between him and the football player. He’s not sure if he’d rather argue with Gavin or tackle him to the floor. But both men know the score, and neither is sure what will happen once Gavin’s timeout is over…

OUR FIRST M/M REVIEW!(OH, MY)

Although a first for the blog, this is not my first time reading M/M romance but it is my first time reviewing it, and this book was a wonderful way to start!  I really like that although one of the main characters is a football star this wasn’t a sports romance.  Both characters were relatable and well built, to the point where I can see myself being friends with Noah in real life.  I really enjoyed this book and watching as Gavin and Noah fell in love.  I like seeing the softer side of “rough” characters and watching how exposing their sensitivities makes them grow. From page 2 I was cheering on this romance before just based on the contrasting personalities of Gavin and Noah.   This book gave me everything I expected and more.  It was a fun read that I finished in one sitting because I was so drawn in.

The Devils Cut J.R. Ward Release day!

Published August 1, 2017 by bookbesties

I am 100 pages from being dine with this baby(life git in the way if my blogger duties) but its still so good!

At first, the death of William Baldwine, the head of the Bradford family, was ruled a suicide. But then his eldest son and sworn enemy, Edward, came forward and confessed to what was, in fact, a murder. Now in police custody, Edward mourns not the disintegration of his family or his loss of freedom . . . but the woman he left behind. His love, Sutton Smythe, is the only person he has ever truly cared about, but as she is the CEO of the Bradford Bourbon Company’s biggest competitor, any relationship between them is impossible. And then there’s the reality of the jail time that Edward is facing. Lane Baldwine was supposed to remain in his role of playboy, forever in his big brother Edward’s shadow. Instead he has become the new head of the family and the company. Convinced that Edward is covering for someone else, Lane and his true love, Lizzie King, go on the trail of a killer—only to discover a secret that is as devastating as it is game-changing. As Lane rushes to discover the truth, and Sutton finds herself irresistibly drawn to Edward in spite of his circumstances, the lives of everyone at Easterly will never be the same again. For some, this is good; for others, it could be a tragedy beyond imagining. Only one thing is for certain: Love survives all things. Even murder.

Beauty Like the Night (The Spymaster Series) Review Post

Séverine de Cabrillac, orphan of the French revolution and sometime British intelligence agent, has tried to leave spying behind her. Now she devotes herself to investigating crimes in London and finding justice for the wrongly accused.

Raoul Deverney, an enigmatic half-Spaniard with enough secrets to earn even a spy’s respect, is at her door demanding help. She’s the only one who can find the killer of his long-estranged wife and rescue her missing twelve-year-old daughter.

Séverine reluctantly agrees to aid him, even though she knows the growing attraction between them makes it more than unwise. Their desperate search for the girl unleashes treason and murder. . . and offers a last chance for two strong, wounded people to find love.

This book took me a while to get into, not by any fault of the Author. You see, I have read so many historical romance books that they all start to have very similar plot lines and characters this book was very different right from the start. It took me a while to stop reading this expecting typical historical romance characters and plots and to start reading it as more of an adventure book. I love that our lead characters are an infamous spy and thief and how their individual skill sets as such play into their relationship. This book as many twists and turns and is quite an adventure to read. I absolutely can not wait to add this to my collection.
